Elhayi (Persian: الهایی), also Romanized as Elhāyī, Al Ḩā’ī, Alhā’ī, and Al Hayi,[3] is a city in the Central District of Ahvaz County, Khuzestan province, Iran, serving as the administrative center for Elhayi Rural District.[4]
At the 2006 census, its population was 3,741 in 546 households, when it was a village in Elhayi Rural District.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 5,103 people in 1,091 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 7,651 people in 1,905 households, by which time the village had been elevated to the status of a city.[2]
