Matveyevsky District (Russian: Матве́евский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[7] district (raion), one of the thirty-five in Orenburg Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,800 square kilometers (690 sq mi).[4] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Matveyevka.[3] Population: 12,267 (2010 Census);[5] 15,627 (2002 Census);[9] 15,704 (1989 Census).[10] The population of Matveyevka accounts for 24.8% of the district's total population.[5]
