Miss Universe 2024 will be the 73rd Miss Universe pageant, to be held in Mexico.[1][2] Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua will crown her successor at the end of the event.
On 18 November 2023, during the Miss Universe 2023 pageant, businessman Raúl Rocha Cantú announced via a video presentation that the 73rd edition will be held in Mexico.[3] This marks the first time Mexico will host the pageant since previously hosting in 2007.
In September 2023, during the Tanner Fletcher show at New York Fashion Week, Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel revealed that the Miss Universe Organization had made the decision to remove age restrictions for contestants over the age of 18, which would be implemented starting with the 2024 edition. Prior to this change, the pageant had restricted participation to women between ages 18–28 on the year of the pageant, outside of special circumstances.[a][5][6]
This edition will mark the debuts of Iran and Saudi Arabia; and the returns of Belize, China, Kyrgyzstan, and New Zealand.[7] New Zealand last competed in 2019; while the others last competed in 2022.[8][9]
As of 11 May 2024, nine contestants have been confirmed to compete for the title.
