Some heavily used references on this page 1, 8 and 10 probably shouldn't be used as much. Patrick Brower, references 8 and 10 and the source for several of the news article references also, was a targeted victim of the man this page is about. His book on the subject is biased to some extent and leaves out some key information on the subject. Tom Bagsarian, source number 1 has been the editor for several concrete magazines and has connections to the family that own the concrete factory that was targeted. After spending much time on the subject and reading Patrick Brower's book (the main source in this article) I can see key information has been left out to create a bias on the subject.
I am unable to provide a soloution to this issue. Hopefully someone who is experienced with editing Wikepedia can fix the page. HubberDubber (talk) 02:59, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i am almost certainly the wrong editor to help you as I never touch anything remotely like this, but let me ask you a question to perhaps start a discussion by other editors. In what way is this man notable? I understand that the event itself was highly notable if you live in Granby and may warrant an article; I haven't looked closely enough to determine that and don't really want to. But before we even get to the sourcing, this is a biography of a living person, no? There are some pretty stringent rules for those articles and one of them, I am pretty sure, is that you don't need to be spidered by Google for a single event like a midlife crisis where you went nuts with a bulldozer, which is my takeaway from a very fast skim of the article. If nobody else answers you, try WP:BLPN. But it is probably also relevant to whatever the situation is that sources for the most part are allowed to be biased. The question is whether they are reliable for the facts. Unless they are so biased they misrepresent the facts... I really have very little interest or bandwidth; but my hot take is that the article probably shouldn't exist at all. Better yet, if you are new to Wikipedia, go to the Teahouse or the Help Desk; they will be more versed in the proper procedures for this. Elinruby (talk) 01:56, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The incident is clearly notable if you look at the sources, but per WP:CRIME I agree it should have been named '2004 Granby bulldozer rampage' or similar. Then again the same guideline says it's okay to make it a biography if the crime was unusual. By the way, Heemeyer is dead so it's not a BLP. As for the biased sources, this doesn't read like an attack article at all. It even mentions he rescued someone from an avalanche. @HubberDubber, I don't think many will have the time to read through the book and edit this article unless they're otherwise interested. I recommend doing so yourself. This is a popular page so any mistakes you might make will probably be corrected quickly. Very late response, but BLP has nothing to do with this. The L in BLP stands for "living", after all.
The entire background for the incident is Heemeyer's... antics, so in practice the biography is him and the same. I feel like it would be more confusing to write it as an event based article PARAKANYAA (talk) 11:36, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"In places, this armor was over 1 foot (30 cm) thick, consisting of 5,000 psi (34 MPa) Quikrete concrete mix sandwiched between sheets of ½-inch (1.3 cm) tool steel"
Ah. I see the problem. First, I misread the sentence. it read "consisting of 5,000 psi (34 MPa) Quikrete concrete mix", not "consisting of 5,000 psi (34 MPa) of Quikrete concrete mix."
Second, the page should use the actual name of the product, which is "Quikrete 5000 concrete mix".

change the reference list by either removing source 9 or 11 (Smith, Martin J. (July 25, 2004). "Martyr Without a Cause". Los Angeles Times. Retrieved July 2, 2023.); and then use this singular reference for the multiple uses in the text. Usermanbilly (talk) 15:55, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The "Timely evacuation" implies that Marvin didn't kill anyone because of the evacuation. Given the timeline of events, you cannot say Marvin wanted to; although he had plenty of chances to do so from video footage. He never actively went after personnel. Instead, enacting his catharsis on the buildings of his rage. The current sentence implies that Marvin was on a murder spree.
Do categories such as "American male criminals" fit here? No doubt what he did was illegal, but owing to his suicide he was never tried and convicted. InherentDogma (talk) 15:59, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
