Can User:Beauty School Dropout please explain their objections to my edits? They are well-sourced, reasonable and clearly not vandalism. When I attempted to discuss this with Beauty School Dropout, they deleted my comment and did not respond. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.147.164.210 (talk) 21:58, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, please leave a message on my talk page if there is no discussion after a reasonable amount of time (a day or two) PhantomTech[talk] 22:15, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I felt that your additions were highly opinion rather than based in stated researched facts. However, I will not redact your edits again from this IP address. Thank you. Beauty School Dropout (talk) 22:57, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Everything I added was well-sourced. That a woman cannot be a perpetrator is still a prevalent myth associated with male rape. See herehere or here for instance, or research papers [1][2] There is also a fairly prominent researcher who thinks female on male rape is not possible so it's not just a fringe view [3]81.147.164.210 (talk) 00:05, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Though a bit redundant, I think this has a place in the Myths regarding male victims of rape section. EvergreenFir(talk) 16:20, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's an odd question. Shouldn't you be explaining why it is fringe? GirthSummit (blether) 13:35, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Because it's well covered by reliable academic sources. It would only be fringe if it was only covered in pseudoscience. —Panamitsu(talk) 21:52, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The main body of this article makes no mention of gendered definitions of rape that prevent male victims of females from being tracked as rape victims, instead being counted as “forced to penetrate” victims.
when looking at the CDC’s NISVS study, for instance, the number of women penetrated by men was 1,270,000; while the same period showed 1,267,000 males that were “forced to penetrate” by women.
source: the 2010 NISVS study released by the CDC.
it also neglects to address that judges, AG’s, etc are actively working to lower age of consent for boys to avoid charging women with statutory rape.
I wonder about the list in this section, Rape of males#Long-term effects. It doesn't seem to distinguish between victims of female abusers, and male abusers. I would assume some on the list, especially 8 (homophobia) but likely also 7 "Fear of becoming 'homosexual' or 'gay'." and 2 "Confusion over gender and sexual identity." are not significant risks for those who are victims of only female abuser/s. The source doesn't seem to offer any info on this, I was originally wondering what on earth Living Well was as the name sounded a bit questionable but it seems to be a support website for victims so maybe isn't quite so bad but still I feel a better source would be ideal.
