What is the purpose of this article? Is this article on West Bengal Government's tourism projects and initiative or it has been attempted guide on West Bengal tourism? If first one is true– our focus should be on WB Gov's initiative and if second on true (i.e. it is a travel guide), then Wikitravel is a better place.
Duplicate of "West Bengal" article– irrelevant information
A very large portion of the article is not relevant here and should be added (or already added, hence duplicate content) in West Bengal article.
"Cultural" section
Full of unnecessary points, literature, culture should be in "West Bengal" article, not in 'Tourism in West Bengal"

Most of the images will be removed again and the purpose of this article is "West Bengal Government's tourism projects and initiative". But no sufficient information is available on the Government's initiatives, most of them say that the Government is "going to" take action. --Jagadhatri(২০১২) 13:39, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've performed some manual editing of the article and would like to suggest some things to fellow members. I'd personally also take up the task of fulfilling these requirements. I wish the article to be upgraded to a good status.
Avoid including too many galleries in article, as per Wikipedia:Galleries. Common solutions to this problem include moving the gallery to wikicommons. Wikipedia is not an image repository
Per WP:WIAFA, this article's table of contents (ToC) may be too long – consider shrinking it down by merging short sections or using a proper system of daughter pages as per Wikipedia:Summary style. However, this shouldn't be the major problem if the article looks good and appealing.
The article has too much of geographical details, which are somehow not conerned very directly with the article.
As the article deals about Tourism in WB, we should add some data and facts about tourists coming to West Bengal, most visited places, annual budget of government and schemes of government to promote the same.
Per Wikipedia:Context and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates), months and days of the week generally should not be linked. Years, decades, and centuries can be linked if they provide context for the article.
There are many grammatical redundancies in the article.
The article must have proper layout (sea beaches, hill stations under "heritage"?). Done
Parts of the article must not have have poor prose, and some sections must not be just full of list, without any prose. Done
What has the whole list of authors and poets to do with tourism? Or, for that matter, the film personalities or the bands? If you think there is some relation between these and tourism, you have to explain that in the prose. Done
No sections must be without any citations.
Stuck
There must not be any mere copying from other articles. Done
Tone and neutrality problems, for example in the unattributed use of phrases like "Kolkata (then known as Calcutta) enjoyed the privilege of being the capital of British India and witnessed a spate of frenzied construction of buildings, largely influenced by the conscious intermingling"
Stuck
Manual of Style issues, including overlinking, hyphen/dash problems, capitalization in headings, etc Working

It's a tourist guide to West Bengal. Worse than that, it appears to be an advert for tourism in West Bengal. There's no infomation about the tourist industry: revenue, number of visitors, numbers employed in the industry, impact of tourism etc. It either should be completely re-written or moved to something like Tourist attractions of West Bengal, but that is close to advertising spam rather than an encyclopedia article. I am unable to find the information about the revenue they get from tourism, the tourism and industry and also the number of visitors. :( You can help.....--Tamravidhir(২০১২) 14:26, 4 August 2012 (UTC);[reply]
I'm sorry, Tamravidhir. :( I don't have a single "featured article" on my own list, because I really just don't have time. I don't want to sound like I don't value featured articles; I do. Obviously, they represent some of our best achievements, and the people who work on them are a huge part of what makes Wikipedia great. But while I occasionally try to improve articles (and even when I can to create them), most of my time on Wikipedia is spent using my "mop" to clean up copyright issues or attempting to help keep things running smoothly for people like you. What about asking at the WikiProject or perhaps finding somebody who has created a lot of Featured Articles and asking them for advice? --Moonriddengirl(talk)13:23, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's a little off the beaten path for him. Um, Redtigerxyz does a lot of good work on India, but he prefers historical and religious aspects. (He's brought several gods and a Mahabharata character to FA already) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:09, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The sections Wildlife sanctuaries and national parks and #Rivers of West Bengal, for example, look terrible and don't provide much knowledge to the reader. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:36, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
