I don't use it often, but every time I use ((help me-ns)) I am annoyed by the response. In particular, the statement to please add your question to that editor's talk page instead
. 99% of the time the ((help me)) that prompts an -ns closure is being made on a user's talk page when they receive a message from another user, and going to that user's talk page to leave a different note is a trend that is falling rapidly out of favour - most people prefer to keep threads continuous on one page.
I know the pitfalls of trying to get too technical/jargon-y with new editors, but could we potentially change that quoted line to something more along the lines of "Please ping the editor in question" or something? Primefac (talk) 12:34, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
A user added the Admin help template to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard in this edit. An admin added the answered=yes parameter a couple of hours later, but this did not clear the page from Category:Wikipedians looking for help from administrators, where it remains about a day later.
As far as I can tell, this template is designed to be used only on Talk pages, so maybe its use on a project-space page is causing the issue. If not, maybe someone can figure it out? We might also want to enable the template's use in project-space. It's been used a handful of times at noticeboards, the Teahouse, and AfCs. |answered=yes
it sends no categories. I suspect a cache issue. Primefac (talk) 19:29, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
