DYK for Lucia Votano[edit]

On 24 March 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Lucia Votano, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Lucia Votano (pictured) was the first woman to be appointed director of the Gran Sasso National Laboratory, the largest underground research center in the world? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Lucia Votano. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Lucia Votano), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Disambiguation link notification for December 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Adrian Mihai Ionescu, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Romanian and Swiss. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:59, 19 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Neuroshima Hex![edit]

I can't blame you for PRODing this, it looked weak, but it is very much notable. I've added some sources as did others, and claims of notability. I'd suggest reporting poor titles to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Board and table games, it is reasonably active and not too inclusionist, we can try to rescue the articles - or endorse their deletion. I have done a lot of both myself. Cheers, Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:48, 25 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for the heads up, @Piotrus. I'll make sure to drop a message in the WikiProject talk page next time :) Broc (talk) 15:14, 25 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Disambiguation of place names[edit]

Maybe you found this already, but there are a couple of areas where the disambiguation naming convention for place names are discussed. WP:NCDAB has a heading 2. Comma-separated disambiguation and WP:TITLEDAB has a heading Comma-separated disambiguation — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:10, 29 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

what guidline says that something well known needs no citation.[edit]

just because something is well known does not mean its true.thus it need a citation. Rguyr (talk) 19:30, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You don't need to cite that the sky is blue. That page is an essay rather than a guideline but still contains useful information. Certes (talk) 20:41, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi @Rguyr: please also have a look at Wikipedia:When to cite#When a source may not be needed, in particular Uncontroversial content in the lead section is often not cited, as it is a generalization of the cited body text. If you read the article (I assume you are referring to Semiconductor), it is very clear (and well sourced) that a semiconductor has a resistance value in-between that of an insulator and of a conductor. If you feel that a source is missing and that a statement is unreferenced, you should try to add a source yourself rather than tag and leave. See WP:HIT&RUNTAG. Hope this answers your question. --Broc (talk) 09:23, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Your Revert[edit]

So you really think that a section named Quotations contains too much quotes? And therefore should be tagged? - Please be so kind as to reconsider. 2A02:3030:A0F:D412:CC2A:D068:56E1:508C (talk) 08:09, 27 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for reaching out! Yes, such sections are not seen very favorably if the quotations are not contextualised within the article's body. See MOS:Quote for more details. Please write again if you have more questions :) Broc (talk) 08:14, 27 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Timovinga[edit]

@Timovinga is seemingly engaged in disruptive editing throughout Wikipedia, especially on topics that are related to Hinduism and LGBTQ. I'd suggest fighting your corner for aggressively by involving admins and moderators to get your content back up. Arind8 (talk) 09:40, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Approval[edit]

Shouldn't this bot have approval before making changes in another bot's user pages? -Kj cheetham (talk) 12:05, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Kj cheetham it was only temporary, I was testing out the script until DreamRimmer set up a recurring task on toolforge. I have to apologize however, as I just realized that automated editing (including for testing) outside one's own userspace is against policy. Broc (talk) 10:44, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No problem. :) — DreamRimmer (talk) 10:57, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
