Great scholarship on the article. Do you have more information about her family. I am trying to find her parent's names. I think I found her on the 1930 census, but want to be sure. I don't think her name was "Henrietta" at birth, and thats why it is so hard to find. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) 18:37, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
When I saw "talk", I had no idea what to do. I don't know much more now. Thank you for your compliment. Yes,her birth name is different. But, her last name was Pleasant or Pleasants. I did research on the family , and had contacts with them for a year or two,or more. I was asked to do research by residents of Turner Station after I was asked to come down and meet the BBC film makers of "Modern Times".
Later, I wrote a letter to Johns Hopkins, I received a BA there in 1972, asking them to participate in commemorative activities. They declined but they referred indirectly to the problem of discarded material that I wrote about in my edits of the Henrietta Lacks' entry in Wikipedia. I am not looking at this letter.
I worked hard to commemorate the family with members of the Lacks' family and Turner State residents for two to three years, and to promote other commemorations of them. I have continued to do so. But,I no longer work closely with the family or the Turners Station community.
A Commission ended in 2002 I think; the same year Moore died ,again I think, which pointed to the need to make sure that Americans were informed about discarded materials. Discarded materials is not covered by the informed consent provision. I am not giving her name to you now because I do not know whether publishing this fact may be detrimental to efforts being undertaken to commemorate her.Bwyche 15:02, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi there. I see you recently tried to nominate Johns Hopkins as a Good Article by adding it to Wikipedia:Good article candidates—unfortunately, you made a bit of a template mix-up, so the article name wasn't linked; you also forgot to add ((GA nominee)) to the article's Talk page. Would you like to complete the article's nomination, or would you like to work on it a bit more? If the nomination stays incomplete, someone may remove it from the list; in case you nees any help completing it, let me know and I'll give you a hand. Best, Fvasconcellos 21:31, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi, it's June, and I just saw your message above.I went to your space and saw the comments on your recent accomplishment. Congratulations. I do need help completing this article, but I do not know whether you can still work with me on it. My nomination was considered and then rejected. I am an alumni of JHU , and I started to work on a biography on him, so I can provided the references most of the time for the information provided. Best to you and congratulations, again. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although we invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Johns Hopkins, was not constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. I read it. I was trying to verify points that may be controversial. Tell Mike I am a "she" not a "he", a "girl" and not a "guy"I probably got carried away I was so frustrated when I saw almost no new citations and references after I provided some around February. When I read Wikipedia guidelines I am often confused by them. BwycheBwyche 11:42, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
I was not offended ( I thought it was funny) and if you meant over fifty and African American you were right on these two counts, though . I'm interested in African American and non African American history. Thank you for everything. I think a lot of problems today come from historical accounts that are wrong but have become sacred cows. Bwyche76.104.124.107 16:03, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
ThK you for your offers of help and Imean to take advantage of them after I figure out how to follow the guidelines. Thank you. I type with one finger. Bwyche````Bwyche````
The best way to see what a "good article" or a "featured article" is is to look at existing examples. See Flu for an example of what wikipedia house style is supposed to look like. WAS 4.250 10:36, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. Since I will read anything, sometimes its difficult for me to see stuff like style, and so on, But I will look at it. Thank you again. BwycheBwyche 11:13, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Again sorry for what happened, I think WAS 4.250 was refering to your post at Talk:Johns Hopkins/Comments when I think the vandal warrior hit you. I think it was a genuine testosterone over zealous mistake, but please we know who you are now - NO MORE SACRED COWS ;-) you have friends. Don't desert us for a few prized keifer! Mike33 11:38, 29 June 2007 (UTC) and if you do need a hand WAS 4.250 has promised to help you every step :-)
To WAS 4.250 I saw your work on the references, and external links and I tried to work on them following your method, but failed. I want to put in one more inline citations before I leave for a while Sorry, Please Helpme Bwyche````
There are a few things going on right now in WikiProject Maryland that I thought all members should know about, especially the first one.
Now for the exiting news:
A couple last things:
I hope you read through all that ;). Thanks to all members for your contributions to the project's articles so far, let's keep up the good work!
Sincerely, -Jeff (talk) 05:43, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
I have created a template ((WikiProject Maryland/flag/animated)) using a commons image that could be used on the front page of the Maryland project. As you can see, I have configured it to fly behind the wiki-puzzle-world logo in the upper left portion of the screen. I will leave it there for a couple of days and invite your comments as to whether we should use it on our front page, or not.--«Marylandstater» «reply» 16:32, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
My mistake for reverting your clear well-intentioned edits. I encounter such large amounts of vandalism down at RC, that occasionally it's difficult to distinguish between bad and good faith edits. Apologies for the inconvenience. --Flewis(talk) 15:38, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
An increase of 2700 articles.
An increase of 3 articles.
An increase of 0 articles.
Just put that out there for the project's consideration.

It would probably be a good idea if you stepped away from Johns Hopkins for a little while. You have a lot of interesting information about things semi-related to the man, but the article is absolutely unreadable. I've tried in the past to comb through and put together a decent article, but everything gets reverted and you continue to overdecorate the tree. Take a vaca and let some others eyes take a look. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.204.215.18 (talk) 06:48, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

It was recently suggested that WikiProject Maryland might be inactive or semiactive and it might be beneficial to include it in the list of projects supported by WikiProject United States. I have started a discussion on the projects talk page soliciting the opinions of the members of the project if this project would be interested in being supported by WikiProject United States. Please feel free to comment on your opinions about this suggestion. --Kumioko (talk) 03:03, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
