I've created an article for Billy Williams who played for West Brom in the 19th century as well as for England. Are you able to add/correct anything? Cheers. --Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 07:33, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Hey, thanks, I'm spending too much time putting images on really... But I agree. To be honest, I've been concerning myself with getting the whole figure of the subject in the crop, and not really been paying much attention to other things that make the image look a bit odd. I'll have a go at getting these cropped soon. And nice one with those OS maps - quite surprised any images of the ground are available. A photo of where the ground was would be fantastic and I can't really see any problems with privacy, but it's definitely best for it to be checked. Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 19:52, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi there Jameboy, this is VASCO from Portugal (read CAREFULLY),
I have had it with WP and this time i mean it! From now on CONSULTING ONLY!! Before leaving, i would like to ask another thing from you mate, this time without any involvement with third-party users, just the WikiProject Football project itself.
I begin: i have edited three or four times PEPE (REAL MADRID)'s stats, he played 19 times this season with no goals (every major football website will attest to that) but, he scored an OWN GOAL against DEPORTIVO CORUÑA, which, has any INTELLIGENT human being, with knowledge of SOCCER RULES, knows it is not credited to a player statistic history, just referred to. This is getting wilder now...User 202.75.80.182 said this "charmer" on an edit summary: "Goals are included. Own goals are NOT excluded.", then proceeded to write 19-1 in infobox. I corrected it on site and explained, humourously and politely, that own goals "are bad", like a referee scoring it by accident, so they are not accounted for, and also left a message in his talk page. His SHITTY, UNCLASSY answer was:
"According to your reference, I like to apologize about my edits as you referred. But I just want to know. What is the meaning of adding 22 goals on Spanish cup? I only stated that he scored 1 goal for the league, but 0 for CUP. Are you trying to VANDALISE the article before saying I'm trying to add silly edits? If you say YES, I will forgive you, because you only put 22 goals on CUP section. If you say NO, FUCK off.
Anyway, I stated that he scored 1 goal, because I think that goal is a good goal. You are welcome to give me any comments on my talk section, but don't give me any nonsense, such as it's just an own goal, or OWN goals are BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. Thank You."
So my friend JAMEBOY, i am sick and tired of this, even more so when i DID NOT VANDALIZE PEPE's page as he accused me of. I know not having an account is sometimes "dangerous" but you cannot accuse anyone without proof. What i would like you and all the partners at the FOOTBALL PROJECT do, is somebody please explain these people what an OWN GOAL is, create a talk page, etc, etc, i don't have the guts anymore, the guts to talk with unpolite and dumb people (no offense meant here mate).
By the way, to avoid any confusion, on my part, i checked 4 or 5 sites, read carefully through ALL REAL MADRID matches (CUP and CHAMPIONS LEAGUE inclusive), and PEPE scored 0, none, zero, goals, and this guy told me (reread message above, that he thinks "that goal is a good goal."). I GIVE UP...
Again, thank you for invite me to join the PROJECT, have a great life (here and elsewhere),
FROM PORTUGAL, VASCO AMARAL (clear conscience, always tried my best) - --217.129.67.28 (talk) 19:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm. That same comment was brought up at its GAN. I came up with an answer then, and I'll find it now again. But the fact a second person has said that will push me to try find something else that can be added to the middle. Found it here's my answer then "I appreciate this query. I partly noticed this at the time I wrote it. However I feel some periods of any historical facts are always going to have more notable periods than others. For those 62 years, there are only a few ways of saying the team got promoted, got relegated. Nothing majorly notable happened as far as I can see. However I appreciate your concern and will try to find anything else I can add to these sections."
I will try add more though. The first section includes the foundation, which has one entire paragraph. The first 16 years are then reduced to three rather than the apparent four pars. This period also includes the club's only major success, highest ever finish, and only extended period in the top flight. The last two sections detail the club's rise back up the leagues (twice), the fire, three periods in administration, only years in the Premier League and only European campaign.
However I will look to see if I can expand on the intermediate years. And thanks for the early comments. Peanut4 (talk) 00:58, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
JAMEBOY, VASCO here,
I'll admit my message was a bit confusing, was just spilling my guts out about the vandalism, the edit wars i had and i am sure everyone here has to, while proposing something i do not even know is appliable on the Football TaskForce, that was all...I am not doing it myself, because i will stop editing.
Take care, safe editing, and a nice life. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.129.67.28 (talk) 02:31, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Just a final thought JAMEBOY,
I was wondering if your "ermmm...?!" to my LONG, LONG message was just of bewilderment, misunderstanding of its content, or did you, in anyway were offended by my words, thinking that any of my insults there were aimed at you. No, my wikifriend, rest assured, but if you were offended, i apologize for any incovenience, as well as the exaggerations in requests for doing this or that.
Even though i will not edit any more, i will still consult WP now and then, and check my talk page, so you can, if interested, reply.
Cheers, be safe, from PORTUGAL

I edited the article as Moore was not voted the POTY by the fans (the Jack Stamps Trophy) but instead won the club's internal award. The JST went to the supporters (it was presented to the crowd by Roy McFarland prior to the last home game of the season v Reading). Apologies for not including this in the edit summary. Have fixed the apps to 305, im not sure where i got 300 from! Eddie6705 (talk) 20:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

I note that you have shown his date of death as 20 October 1929. I have two sources that give this as 28 October - the Betts book ("England - Player by Player") which I use and www.englandfootballonline.com. Can you verify your source? Cheers. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 21:54, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Hello. I m glad you raised this for it does look indeed that I am wrong. I was under the impression that claiming Irish citizenship through descent was a form of becoming a naturalised citizen of (the Republic of) Ireland, but according to Irish nationality law these are two distinct means for acquiring Irish nationality, I ve just discovered. I ve also found out that Kiely, with two Irish parents (see later comment) and born prior to 1983, is most likely not a British citizen, as Irish can settle in the U.K. without acquiring (naturalised) citizenship, because of Common Travel Area. I still think it should belong to Category:Irish people of English descent, as this cat page lists people who or either ethnically English (which he s not) or of English national origin (which he is, not in technical sense related to citizenship but in a real sense having been English-born and raised) Mayumashu (talk) 17:08, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I've never had loads to particularly input into the Ronnie Wallwork entry, but I was thinking a while ago, that it's probably GAN worthy. Feel free to take it to Peer Review, and I'll help out in anyway I can.
Your help with the history article has been great. I've left one minor question at the end. Hopefully I'll give it another read through tomorrow and see if anyone else can offer any advice. I'm not sure it's quite FAC worthy yet but should be fairly close. Peanut4 (talk) 01:07, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the link check. I've corrected them all except Jim Smith and Alan Willey. I am unsure what to link the Smith article to as there is already the more famous Jim Smith, and i don't know the year of birth. Also, i'm not sure what is wrong with the willey link. Thanks Eddie6705 (talk) 19:08, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Edit: Now i have just created Alan Willey (footballer born 1941), should Alan Willey be moved to Alan Willey (footballer born 1956)? Eddie6705 (talk) 19:55, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi there JAMEBOY, VASCO again,
after several "threats" of leaving i am still here, working for the site's improvement, although still no part of any specific taskforce and without an account. I just have one doubt that i have to clear, possibly with your help:
After entering WP:FOOTY, i have seen no field in which to file a report/complaint about a disruptive user, i would like you to point the right steps to me, i will take care of the rest. I also would like to know, outside from that specific football section, where can you report about the same? Thank you in advance.
HAPPY WEEKEND FROM PORTUGAL, VASCO AMARAL -
Sorry JAMEBOY, forgot to sign earlier...
VASCO AMARAL - --217.129.67.28 (talk) 18:05, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi there again JAMEBOY,
I feel there is a bit of a misunderstanding here, my WIKIFRIEND. Yes, i understood perfectly which WIKISECTIONS i must enter, but am still a bit "numb" about in which field in particular, or to which entity can i write my complaint.
This is, i assure you, a WIKImatter of the utmost importance, as this user (Pararubbas, check is edit history to confirm) i want to report is REALLY, REALLY disruptive.
Thanks again, VASCO AMARAL - --217.129.67.28 (talk) 20:13, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Jameboy, thank you very much for your help, man, no problem, i will try to find it elsewhere and, if i do not succeed, i will treat this user (and other vandals) with the old-fashioned "they vandalize, i revert it" (as many times as necessary).
Thanks again, ask too if you need any help from yours truly, VASCO AMARAL - --217.129.67.28 (talk) 20:40, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi Jameboy, sorry for the delay in replying. Your list is not sortable so, in theory, repeated relinking isn't required. So, as you have with seasons, link the years the league change, I wouldn't bother relinking the top scorer. Hope that helps. Let me know when you take it to FLC. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:29, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
I've got no idea who the player third from the right is, but he's got some awesome socks on!!!!!! ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:03, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
To be honest I've never even read WP:DASH. The only reason I've moved most of the pages back is because the previous moves were not performed properly (double redirects, red links etc.). Cheers! BanRay 14:18, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi there. I like the idea of having a separate section for the stabbing incident because it is different to his football career. However, his football career was entirely affected by the incident. And secondly the whole section would fit neatly into the football section without any alteration, so moving it wouldn't much change anything and would as you say maintain the chronology. I would marginally vote for a move. What do you think? Peanut4 (talk) 22:54, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm not exactly sure how you mean. I mean, it looks fine for my FireFox. Could you tell me exactly what's wrong, or take a screen shot? You could always try Ctrl + F5 and it'll refresh the image. Ɔrassic (talk) 23:26, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Hello Jameboy. Thanks for your kind comment about my work on Scott Carson. Most recently, I've been looking at articles on non-league players but for some reason, Carson caught my eye today (it's on my watchlist) and I started adding citations and tweaking the text. The article needs some more work on Carson's international career and on the lead, I think, so a bit more to do. I hadn't thought about GA standard and I'm not too au fait with it but I'll have a look. Cheers, --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 21:17, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
I think the only thing you need to do with the lead is rearrange the order of the paragraphs; starting off by talking about the club and the various things that have happened during its seasons is at least as good a way of introducing the table as giving the exact contents thereof (in my opinion, anyway). Suggest the following structure:
Start with current para 2, just change "The club was founded" to "West Bromwich Albion Football Club was founded".
Then current para 3, only change would be to link "European competitions" to UEFA#Competitions.
Then minor rewriting of para 1 as new para 3, something like:
Albion have played more than one hundred seasons since their first entry in the FA Cup in 1883-84. The table details their achievements in all European and nationally-organised domestic first-team competitions, and notes their top league goalscorer, for each completed season. Records of locally-organised cup competitions such as the Birmingham Senior Cup and Staffordshire Senior Cup, which have permitted reserve teams from 1906–07 onwards,[1] are not included.
Referring to table rather than list is deliberate; the whole article, lead included, constitutes the list. There are articles for first team and reserve team which it might be helpful to link. just a suggestion, anyway, feel free to ignore :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:51, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure what to suggest. I'm just glad I got Bradford City A.F.C. seasons through before the FLC criteria changed. However I've still got players and managers to do at some point!! As far as I'm concerned, you've addressed all my concerns, and it's a support in principle, but I'll wait until the article lead gets near to completion. Peanut4 (talk) 21:59, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi Jameboy, you know I'd never noticed that lists were low before! I'm not sure that's particularly fair, why should List of Margate F.C. seasons be considered as important as List of European Cup and UEFA Champions League winners? Perhaps you could initiate a discussion at WP:FOOTY to see what others think, particularly in light of the tightening of FL criteria and general improvements to the quality of promoted lists. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:12, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi Jameboy. I unlinked the article about Nigel Pearson from one about Steve Walsh, on the basis that the Steve Walsh referred to was a different person to the one linked. You asked me: "Regarding your edit to Nigel Pearson, could you explain who the two different Steve Walshs are? We should probably create an article for the "other" Steve Walsh if you are correct."
The Steve Walsh that the article linked to was, not unreasonably, the former Leicester City player – all the more understandable because another candidate for the job ultimately won by Pearson promised, when pitching for the position, to appoint this fans' favourite to the staff.
However, the Steve Walsh appointed by Pearson is not this player but a specialist talent scout. His previous position was with Newcastle United, and before that he was Mourinho's chief scout at Chelsea. There is more about him here: http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?back=true&key=1D29%7C0%7C2185366269754%7CR%7C536%7C7255261172008317796231&parentkey=1D29%7C0%7C2185366269754%7Cp%7C536%7C0 Grubstreet (talk) 20:59, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
