Jason Blades.....

Hi Knitsey, you removed my update about Jason Blades. It is all absolutely factual and has been admitted to on various TV shows. I don't think that 'celebrities' should be protected from the truth being written about them, particularly when they have admitted to it but then perhaps in retrospect have regretted that admission amd not continued to repeat it — Preceding unsigned comment added by Accuracy1985 (talkcontribs) 06:10, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there. This is nothing to do with protecting anyone. It has everything to do with using a reliable source, using a neutral tone and adhering to BLP policies on Wikipedia.
If you read the message that I left you again, you will see I added links to WP:BLP and WP:RS. I will also add WP:NPOV. I would urge you to read all three of those policies before adding any edits to Wikipedia. If you need any further help then please do reach out. Many thanks, Knitsey (talk) 06:20, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your good work, it's appreciated. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:29, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! It's always nice to be appreciated. I don't know how admins (yourself included obviously) are so quick off the mark with blocks. It must get tiresome. Knitsey (talk) 20:31, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It sure can, but it's just another task that needs doing. For the most part it's not too bad though, with tools and such, similar to how twinkle, redwarn, antivandal, and all the others help out a lot with recent changes patrolling. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:41, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I had an accident last year which will take me a while to recover from. Thats when I started editing. I didn't realise just how much work everone puts into this project. It must be tye largest volunteer project in the world. Knitsey (talk) 20:52, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping me revert and report all of that WW2 German flag spamming IP addresses! 🛧Layah50♪🛪 ( 話す? 一緒に飛ぼう!) 03:00, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I would love to know how many I found. I could only go back 500 edits and even though my filters trimmed that down, there will be some stray ones out there. At least they mostly made it easy to find them 88 characters (of course or 103. Knitsey (talk) 03:39, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Me too.. My talk page also just got vandalized by those IP addresses. Even if some of those image vandalism edits are not found, someone will eventually remove them! :)
Once again, thanks for defending Wikipedia! 🛧Layah50♪🛪 ( 話す? 一緒に飛ぼう!) 04:17, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

FAAM

Hey - I did a little work on Facility_for_Airborne_Atmospheric_Measurements and I saw this [1] revert of yours - FAAM restyled itself in 2016 (its at the bottom of this page: [2] so now it's literally 'FAAM Airborne Laboratory' rather than being acronym. Are you cool if I update the title? (and indeed, do some rewriting on the whole page in general; it looks awful right now)

Joe (talk) 14:10, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Joereddington:, I have no problem with updates, I had heard of FAAM (through work) but I don't have enough knowledge of it to do any updates. So fill your boots. 🙂 Knitsey (talk) 14:19, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is a minor celeb with the same name as an academic on Wikipedia and she asked people to change it so that she wouldn't keep getting confused with her 😐 I really do worry about some people. Knitsey (talk) 16:38, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Those people are worrying about us. Joyous! Noise! 16:41, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I never thought of it that way around.
I reported someone earlier for asking on some drug lords talk page for them to expand into Africa. I'm clinging to the hope that it was a joke. Knitsey (talk) 16:47, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I saw that. I was not amused... Courcelles (talk) 16:52, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Me neither, joke or not, I'm sat shaking my phone saying 'wtf, why would you'. The dog jumped. Knitsey (talk) 16:54, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're a little too new yet, maybe by about six months... but if you keep this activity up and the level of sense you exhibit the same, you might want to start paying attention to the workings of WP:RFA. And, you know, start blocking your own vandals. Courcelles (talk) 16:55, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Cesspit is an exaggeration but I've read through quite a few applications and it scares the heck out of me. But thank you for giving me a boost. That's always appreciated. I'm still a noob as far as policy and procedure is concerned. Maybe in 10 year. Knitsey (talk) 17:00, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It used to be commonplace for a year to be plenty of editing. I think I passed with less months of tenure (but more edits) than you have. I don't blame you for avoiding what modern RFA has become, but wanting you to go before the gauntlet is purely selfish and wanting to do less work ;) Courcelles (talk) 17:08, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Aha! Ulterior motive. I'm getting there with how all the areas of Wikipedia interact. Someone has just helped with advice about CSD which has made things a lot clearer for me. I like to plod along and watch and learn. Learning what ticks off admins is the first phase. Knitsey (talk) 17:14, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What ticks off admins? Very little. Which is different from what will get someone blocked by an admin ;) Which boils down to either a) being an obnoxious troll and b) failure to exhibit any common sense. And CSD is perhaps the most finicky thing admins deal with every single day (Arbitration and Arb Enforcement is worse, but easily avoidable.) Most of the criteria are still straightforward, but interpreting A7 has been a source of contention forever. Courcelles (talk) 17:21, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure I will make some mistakes along the way but I do read and take on board any advice given. If there is ever something you think I'm missing the point of, I'm always happy to be advised. I find it all really interesting. Knitsey (talk) 17:29, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm so old I passed with only 21 support votes, and I only had to answer three questions: RfA was so much gentler back then.
If you ever get bored with slapping vandals, we could always use your help at Project Merge, especially dealing with articles from deletion discussions whose verdict was "merge with some other article." It is very easy to confidently assert "THIS ARTICLE NEEDS TO MERGE WITH X," but strangely, most people don't follow through and actually do the work of merging. Joyous! Noise! 20:52, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That would be something else for me to do. I will have a read tomorrow then come back with anything I'm unsure about if that's OK? Knitsey (talk) 21:04, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Gallagher page edits

Knitsey ...

My user name is TeddyBones, but I AM Michael Gallagher (comic book writer) as written in your Wiki page. I replaced the content to provide more detail and correct inaccuracies. I have not used Wikipedia and am not particularly tech savvy so do not know what more to do to "legitimize" what I've written. It is all from my own experience. Please advise. I do not wish to have incomplete and inaccurate information written about me and I spent hours creating the revised post and making sure that the information about me and my family is correct..

In the meantime I will repost and provide a bit more info in the Edit Summary and hopefully my changes will not be removed again.

Thank you.

Changes at Noatak, Alaska

Hello, I've noticed that my contribution to Noatak, Alaska has been reverted because it's unsourced. Sadly, I cannot find a source of this, as it's kinda niche, but I think a natural phenomena like this is notable enough to be included on the page. My source are my own eyes, as I know people involved with the small circle of people interested in the topic, so I know it's true. Thanks :D — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.251.251.28 (talk) 11:29, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mysterious skywritting would definitely require a reliable source, see WP:RS. The Sockpuppets were told this by numerous editors last time. Knitsey (talk) 11:44, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The son of one of the researchers (and my friend) is writing an article about the topic for his high school's website news report. Would that count as reliable? SPR34D UR W1NG2 (talk) 08:05, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also can Wikipedia staff stop calling my friends trolls and accussing them of vandalism? They are very dedicated people sharing their life's work on here. Thank you SPR34D UR W1NG2 (talk) 08:10, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think you should ask for a second opinion at the teahouse [3]. You will need to include the full details of what you want to add to articles and what information you have to back up your claims.
Just be aware, a sockpuppet investigation was opened about your friends and they were linked, hence the ban. The shopped photo didn't help. Knitsey (talk) 08:17, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The photo was added mistakenly by one of us out of confusion. It was a reference image created for a presentation, as actual images are really hard to take because of the nature of visibility of the anomally. The S.O.G.S system will eventually be updated in order to make photographs easier to take, but it's going to take a long time. Other images from the performance from a few years ago are legitamate, no idea why they were removed. Thanks for understanding! Also apologies for potential grammar mistakes, english isn't me first language and for the behavior of some friends of mine towards staff, I get that being kicked under the table constantly makes them mad, but some got a bit too aggressive. Cheers!

ignore this, knitsey, it's definitely trolling. ltbdl (talk) 08:36, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Talking from my mobile account here. I would like to appreciate Knitsey for being an editor who's actually willing to talk with people, instead of immediately dismissing them as trolls. Telling major Wikipedia figures to ignore someone, just because you think it's trolling...very mature of you. I wish more people were like Knitsey instead of ignoring discussions with people who just want to contribute. 37.48.26.9 (talk) 08:48, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not anything major, nobody at Wikipedia is, and I do think you are part of the editors who are trying to introduce this nonsense into Wikipedia. But I could always be wrong so for the last time, I do think you should ask at the teahouse to get clarification. When you've asked there and gained consensus for the edit then it can be reinstated. Knitsey (talk) 08:56, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did ask. My post was immediately removed. Said editors who are "trying to put nonsense here" are my friends. I know about the topic at hand 37.48.26.9 (talk) 09:03, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks! Been at least ten years since I had a real cuppa (long story...)! Could really do with one right now! (My sister-in-law's crazy German shepherd, who's known me since she was a wee puppy, bit me in the hand yesterday; serious bleeding ensued...). Her problem not mine, so you can tell yr collies (always loved 'em) an' cats (almost always been owned by one) that not only am I loveable, but I'm also a gr8 fan (as well as being a borderline tea addict...). Won't go so far as to say I prefer their company to that of many humans, but... If you need any further proof of my ability for AGF, I even have friends who are Miffys (Miffies?) yorkshiretea.co.uk. Many thnx! Yeah, hurts more today than it did yesterday, but that's par for the course (at least this time I don't reckon I'm gonna need those pesky tetanus jabs... after all, it's "family").
BTW, I, too, used to be a stand-alone teaspoon kinda guy person, but I like to think Wikipedia mellowed me (?), so am now waaaay more tolerant than wot I once was... One of my fondest memories is the lovely old couple of retirees sitting down to enjoy their teapot cuppa (at teatime) at a campsite in the south of Spain (crazy heat... It's difficult to explain to people from outside the UK that if a Brit offers you a cuppa then it's the ultimate compliment. Although, we also like to judge people on how they make their tea, how they stir their tea and how they drink their tea. It is such a serious business. Knitsey (talk) 19:42, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yep! And I greatly appreciated the compliment. Unfortunately it was their last day at the campsite... Ships that pass... Re "How...", durst I say "the stuff of religions"? Call me hidebound, but... --Technopat (talk) 20:14, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the ((Ctopics/aware)) template.

Hurricane Bonnie edit

Hurricane Connie is mentioned in the article on Hurricane Diana. Connie occurred in 1955. Hurricane Bonnie preceded Hurricane Diana. I am a Wilmington resident who lived through both storms. Please check the names and dates of the storms in question. 173.93.102.110 (talk) 13:58, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not seeing any reference to Bonnie in 1955. See Hurricane Connie article. Knitsey (talk) 14:04, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalisms

It looks like you're interested in this so imma let you know a couple of things. I invite you with all my heart to go and look at what the user I was "impersonating" (Actually, I just had a similar username) is actually doing on Wikipedia. That user is a vandal that is perpetuating his hatred on the articles related to a singer, basing his over the top hating edits on LIES like this on both edit and edit summaries

Seriously look at THIS then check the source. You wanna be a patroller, I'm glad you want to. But if so, do your thing right and get him blocked too if you got Wikipedia in your heart. If u don't, you got It all twisted. Bye 5.90.50.222 (talk) 14:52, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I reported you as impersonating another user. Which is what you tried to do. You should have taken this to the article talk pages. Knitsey (talk) 14:55, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't try to do s**t. I choose a similar username, that's different then impersonating. Look at the talk pages of those articles, then tell me what you see. I'll wait 5.90.53.228 (talk) 15:00, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
aren't you here because you want to stop vandalism? Stop it then. What that user is doing is vandalism, and that is as clear as the sun. There is no justification for you to do your best to block me, but not do s**t to block him. Don't act like you don't know that 5.90.53.228 (talk) 15:03, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You made an account impersonating another user and used it to try and prove a point. Thats what I reported you for. You did that. Why not try one of the noticeboards to solve the dispute.
I'm going to ask you nicely to step away from my talk page and take it to the relevant board. Knitsey (talk) 15:05, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Knitsey i reported the ip to AIV for block evasion. Notrealname1234 (talk) 15:07, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was trying to give them a chance but that was my next stop. Thanks, Knitsey (talk) 15:08, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No dude. The one trying to give you a chance was me. I'm coming, be ready, we're gonna have some fun 5.90.59.120 (talk) 15:14, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And i'm going to ask you nicely to go ****** yourself, And nicely inform you that it takes 1 hour for me to drive to Somerset and have a really calm conversation with you while sipping a cup of tea. Do you like how that idea sounds? 5.90.59.120 (talk) 15:09, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And I'm telling you, I don't have better things to do today, so I might be coming 5.90.59.120 (talk) 15:10, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
seems like he got blocked. Notrealname1234 (talk) 15:20, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like it lol. I was goimg to offer them a cuppa. Knitsey (talk) 15:24, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have better things to do today... do they not have The Repair Shop in Italy (where the IP resolves)? There was a new episode the other night on BBC-1. Who the hell would vandalise stuff out of boredom when they could watch experts repairing a 1920s tailor's dummy that survived the Blitz? People mystify me. — Trey Maturin 17:24, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I LOVE the Repair Shop. I'm really getting old. Knitsey (talk) 17:26, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm stocking up Cantuccini for them. Although I may have scoffed the lot by the time they get here.
Italy is the one place I've visited again and again. Knitsey (talk) 17:29, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In the last 10 years we've done Milan once [not a fan, too much car exhaust fumes], Turin five times [love love love] and Venice [a spider's web that I just learnt in a day somehow] three times, by Eurostar and TGV/Frecciarossa. Curtailed by that damn'd virus thing, but we will get around to going back soon. I'll need to brush up my decaying Italian again. In the meantime, I'm off to watch this afternoon's Repair Shop on iPlayer! — Trey Maturin 17:42, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Northern Italy, I've not been much further south than Pisa. It's so beautiful. The Lakes are lovely. I loved Venice, I went in September and it rained nearly the whole time but I still loved it. Florence was busy bit it was so nice to visit. Enjoy Repair Shop, I will be catching up this week. Knitsey (talk) 17:49, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I wasn't sure if it was vandalism, but yeah, I should have taken it to the noticeboard.

Greetings and...

Hey up! Tea (tee) up? Got yer kettle on the boil? I'm down to my last 20 tea bags... and no Royal Marines in sight! Any suggestion? Breathe deeply? Om... Technopat (talk) 21:12, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Problem, no tea, u r ded 😄 Knitsey (talk) 21:18, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nope! Sorry, but u ain't gonna write me off so easily... Been there, seen it an' done it... (Never underestimate the enemy...) And when push comes to shove, am even capable of recycling teabags (once one has to resort to teabags, anything goes...). Talking hardcore here... Want me to mention the B-word again? --Technopat (talk) 21:33, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Am I allowed to suggest 'advance coitus you'. Don't you bring the B word to my table! Knitsey (talk) 21:43, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! Them's fighting words! Didn't expect 'em from such a quarter... Yer persona led me off on a wild goose chase... (That there tea cosy you insinuated really led me astray...) From now on, will be on me guard... --Technopat (talk) 21:55, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Want me to send you some T-bags out? I've heard Netto do a bag of 1,000 for £2.75. Knitsey (talk) 22:00, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds amazing! 'Ang on... is that there "1,000 for £2.75." some sorta (pyramid?) scam to catch us poor expats off our their guard? That's what I pay for 80... BTW, hope this T-banter hasn't distracted you too much from all the stalking I've just seen... I realise it's par for the course, but don't let 'em get to you! Best... --Technopat (talk) 22:12, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's par for the course with vandalism.
I can't guarantee there will be much, if any, tea in the t-bags. More like tea flavoured dust. Knitsey (talk) 22:18, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Never thought I'd ever get round to using this, but LOL! (Literally the first time I've ever had occasion to use that one...) Thnx! --Technopat (talk) 22:24, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, you did leave Gawds own county. I don't feel a huge surge of sympathy. Knitsey (talk) 22:28, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, right... What a googly! Nothing like resorting to guilt-tripping on tea issues... Definitely below the belt! Talk about passive-aggressive behaviour! Am obviously at a disadvantage here, so need a time out (that's a tea-break for you poor, hidebound Brits). Allow me to appeal to all those (pre-Brexit?) historic ideals of fair play, Laws of Cricket, Britishness. Any chance of a level playing field? Nice cuppa? --Technopat (talk) 22:51, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Cricket! My Grandad used to take me to watch cricket at Headinley when I was little. Every time I hear/see anything to do with Yorkshire cricket, it reminds me of him. Nice memories. He always had a hip flask and always bought me a cuppa. I didn't like tea then, but I always drank it as it was usually cold. Knitsey (talk) 23:04, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Headingley! What a privilege! So that explains that Yorkshire lass tea angle. Here's to yer Grandad! (We poor toffs had to make do with The Oval and, on one memorable occasion, a visit to Lord's.) Now that I think of it, the hip flask you refer to, as opposed to a Thermos flask, obviously didn't contain tea... And don't forget you're dealing with someone old enough to know the difference 'twixt Tetley's Brewery and Tetley... --Technopat (talk) 23:27, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my, the dray horses at Teley Brewery. I LOVED seeing them. I think they used them right up to closing? Knitsey (talk) 23:33, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh MY! Now we're really getting down to brass tacks (not monkeys..., yet)! While I'm dismayed to see that the Yanks got in there first (here at Wp) with Draft horse —"two countries separated by a common language"—still remember the magnificent Young's and Fuller's drays. And while I still remember, vividly, "Ernie (The Fastest Milkman in the West)", can't say that I ever saw any horse-drawn milk cart... Ours were all posh electric floats. The local rag-and-bone man, certainly, and Steptoe and Son in b&w, of course... Oh! "England Your England"... Right! Enough of that! This is getting soppy silly... --Technopat (talk) 00:08, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've been looking at old photos of Leeds. The dray horses were beautiful. You're even older than me! Bed for me.
The subject next time is flat caps and whippets. Knitsey (talk) 00:14, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jeez! Waaaay past me bedtime... up in 4 hours. Not quite crack o' dawn, but near as dammit! Meanwhile, the mice will play... and I'll be dreaming that I saw Gary Sobers hit them there six sixes and that I've got enough tea to last me 'til the end of the week! --Technopat (talk) 00:29, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Playing fast and loose...

Hey up! Am shocked to see you's gone over to The Dark Side... An' here you had me believing you was a pukka cricket fan. No longer playing The Game? Is it all over? Rain stopped play? Googlies no longer mean anything to you? Sigh! Technopat (talk) 11:03, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If I could be bothered, I would actually watch some baseball, or rounders as it should be called. It was the only game (that girls were allowed to play) at school that I really enjoyed.
When I was in sixth form they eventually let girls play cricket. Knitsey (talk) 11:08, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah! Those were the days! Tennis-ball rounders... (I once smashed a classroom window... dead centre, perfect circle! (Smashed Pane stopped play...). So perfect that the whole school admired it (and me). Never got any academic recognition, but that pane was the highlight of my school years... the kids were talking about it for days! That and the fact that I din't get into trouble for it!) BTW, our mixed primary school was cool; boys got to play netball! (Didn't have new-fangled inventions like basketball in them days.) Re yer sixth form, batters in skirts? Blue-stockinged lbws? The mind boggles... --Technopat (talk) 11:36, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We still didn't have a girls football team by the time I left. The Catholic school I attended was mixed but was quite traditional. We used to play footy at break times but it wasn't included in the curriculum. Things have moved on fortunately.
The only thing I destroyed at school was my glasses. Awful NHS glasses that I used to get bullied about. I 'accidentally' left them on the school field when it was grass cutting day. My mum was fuming. Knitsey (talk) 11:52, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh! Those happy "accidents"! One of many minor successes of which I'm also especially proud was managing to break, one by one, the six horrendous green wine glasses (with black stems!) my mother-in-law gave us as a wedding gift. She got her own back by passing away on my birthday... --Technopat (talk) 13:42, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, those wine glasses sound fugly. And selfish or what! Knitsey (talk) 15:58, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fugly? Wow! Not part of my lexis... until now. Thnx for that! Will incorporate it asap. I take it that the etymology is "effing ugly", but popular etymology, as an extreme sport, is very risky... Re selfishness, nah! pretty much par for the course as far as mother-in-laws go :) (Oops! Are you one of those? I'm still suffering from the fallout from when I accused my wife of being "just like your mother"! Only once; never again...). --Technopat (talk) 16:53, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How the heck did you get to your age without knowing you never, NEVER compare your wife to their mother. Or your mother come to that. I hope she made you pay for a long, long time. Knitsey (talk) 17:04, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So now you're playing the age card? Re my "I'm still suffering...". C'mon, you know, better than wot I does, us men are but mere ciphers, simply noble and naive pawns in this game. And before you write me off as a wimp, I'd just like to point out, in passing, that I used to be pretty street-wise (Ol' Lunnon Town), trained with special forces (we all have a past...) and have developed a thick skin and a pretty high pain threshold. Of course, none of that prepared me for life in the real world... let alone a mother-in-law. Whole new ballgame. No rules... anything goes. It's been a long and winding learning curve to finally get to start internalising Ol' Father Aesop's teachings. --Technopat (talk) 10:38, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Special forces, pfft. They crumble just at the mention of mother-in-law.
When I was 20 or 21, I went on holiday to Greece with a boyfriend. His parents were already out there on holiday. When we got there, his mum took all our money from us both for 'safe keeping'. We had to ask if we wanted to spend some money. She was so controlling. We broke up about 2 weeks after we got back. Knitsey (talk) 11:36, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

hello ! if you don't mind could you check over my reasonings for adding that link, also I can't find any where where the original editor found citations for the business model part of the page, I am unsure whether to leave it uncited or add info on best western's non profit and the fact it's members vote on changes to the company, any advice would be helpful ! Amapiano origin

To whom it may concern. I have come to a discovery by error. The famous logdrum used on Amapiano genre seems to jabe been used by Mdu Masilela on a song Oksalayo Siyajola. I uploaded this song while testing the stem separation with the new Fl studio update beta. So I managed to isolate drums, bass and vocals. To my surprise I discovered that a logdrum sound was used on this in the 1990's. There's also a free software called spitter that can be able to do this for those who might want to test my theory. However, there is sidechain that was used to remove the click on the logdrum when a kick and bass are playing together. Because in Kwaito music, a kick needed to be the louder and clearer sound. So the logdrum can be heard clearly when the kick mutes. I will like to hear the feedback from similar curious minds. Maybe this is nothing. But I work with music so I am familiar with Amapiano genre. Reverse Psycho (talk) 11:47, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Cambridge International School

Hello You have queried some changes I have tried to make to this page. Please check out the website and you can see what I am recording is correct and that the school has not closed. It has a different Unique School Number than the one incorrectly posted on the wikipedia page. If you visit https//get-information-schools.service.gov.uk you will see the school is open and is at Cherry Hinton Hall. It is for children aged 2-11. The confusion is that the senior school for children aged 11-16 has closed. The Unique number you need for the establishment is 146301 and the DFE number is 873/6056/Previous owners had changed the registration information but they are no longer involved in the school. I would like to continue to update the page as it is factually incorrect. I also need the address to change as it is Cherry Hinton Hall, Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge, CB1 8DW. I would be grateful for your help if you can do so as it is not helpful to anyone to have inaccurate information. Thank you Apu1eius (talk) 21:37, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Novak Djokovic..... Hi Knitsey, you removed my update about Novak Djokovic. It is all absolutely factual and has been admitted to on various Tennis shows. I don't think that 'athletes' should be protected from the truth being written about them, particularly when they have admitted to it but then perhaps in retrospect have regretted that admission amd not continued to repeat it — In response to signed comment added by Knitsey (talk • contribs) 20:11, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply] Silopsone (talk) 21:58, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Silopsone: You changed the name on the article for Grigor Dimitrov to Novak Djokovic. Knitsey (talk) 22:02, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, as I said his name is Novak Djokovic and it is absolutely factual. It has been admitted to on various Tennis shows. If he is interested in pretending his name is not Novak Djokovic then I think he should not receive protection just because he is an "athlete".
For example, see this tweet from 2018: https://twitter.com/ASICSamerica/status/967074019001253888 Silopsone (talk) 22:14, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You've lost me. Are you saying you think that they are the same person? Knitsey (talk) 22:18, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Novak Djokovic and Grigor Dimitrov? No, of course they are not the same person! They are two different tennis players.
But if Novak Djokovic has admitted that he is Novak Djokovic but then perhaps in retrospect regrets that admission amd not continued to repeat it then I do not believe he should be protected for any reason. Silopsone (talk) 22:29, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, ok, you're jerking me around. If you vandalise Wikipedia again the chances are you will be blocked. Knitsey (talk) 22:32, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So, I get that you and many wikipedia people are against "vandals" but two things:
(1) What's to stop me from simply creating another account and doing the same sort of thing?
(2) Maybe it's not the most clever joke but the reason I changed Dimitrov's name to Djokovic was because I was trying to tell my friend that Djokovic was 32 and by changing Dimitrov's page I was able to get the information that shows up immediately on a google search to say that Djokovic was 32 to create some "evidence" as a joke, it's not like my friend didn't know Djokovic's age.
Why is that sort of joke such a big deal? Seems pretty different from vandalizing in order to purposely mislead. Silopsone (talk) 22:56, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And blocked. Knitsey (talk) 23:00, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Great job and thanks!

Hey, great job fighting vandalism today! Also, thanks for your eyes at Special:Diff/1186668363 although I'm also curious if that might have been left for the admin to view as part of the cleanup? Either way, cheers! microbiologyMarcus (petri dishgrowths) 19:23, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No problem and you caught most of it. I do usually leave vandalism at AIV just so that there is no doubt they are vandals, although most people revert. I reverted as AIV is backlogged so ot might be a while before anyone gets to it. I'm glad I've come across someone else that usually leaves it for blocking admins! Josephine Webb (artist)

Please hold off on any more edits etc at this article. I am in the middle of compiling a talk page message to all the editors concerned (including the apparent instructor). Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 16:39, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Shearonink: Ah ok, thank you. I did see your help on the editors talk page earlier. Do you know if this is an official Wikipedia course? There looks to be a few editors involved so I wasn't sure where to go next. I will leave it for now as you seem to know what's going on.
I did say on one of the talk pages about not wanting to see them fail and if they needed none help etc. Knitsey (talk) 16:43, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I saw your offer of help wherever it was yes. I don't want one of these student editors to get blocked if they revert again etc. because of WP:3RR. It appears to be a university course connected to Smirkybec. I'm pinging everyone concerned to the article talk page. The copyvios are serious + the deletion of sourced content + the WP:PUFFERY language (which ties in to the copyvios) + the not using sources when the content is obviously SOURCED, etc. *sigh*... Shearonink (talk) 16:49, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thank you. I will leave it for now and see what happens on the talk page. Thank you so much for trying to sort it all out. Knitsey (talk) 16:51, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Haven't seen any action from anyone connected with the article since the 27th (JamieMcLoughlin on the article talk page, Danni Molloy on the article itself). I"ve been watching the article/article talk & the students user talk. I wonder if we'll ever know if they passed the course... Shearonink (talk) 15:35, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I keep having a look as replies might get lost on my watchlist but yes, nothing. I'm a lottle disapointed. I know we shouldn't write it for them of course, but I thought a little help with formatting or referencing might help.
I do think they've chosen a difficult subject to expand. A female artist from that era that isn't as notable as some (mostly male) artists etc.
I'm in for surgery for a few days from tomorrow, but after I'm up and about again I might use it for a little project. My referencing is mostly for modern subjects that are much easier to source. I might pop to Bristol library as their referencing section is quite good. Knitsey (talk) 15:43, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Britain First Edits Removal

Hello Knitsey. I recently made some edits to the Britain First Wikipedia page regarding misinformation about the party status & ideology. I removed references to them being fascist as they themselves do not call themselves fascists & neither does official party material. The sources calling them fascists are opinion pieces & should not be used to justify removal of sensible edits. It is critically important to keep bias & misinformation out of politics & while Britain First has many questionable views, we must still represent them fairly.
