Digital Anthropology research

Hello Nvvchar, My name is Stephanie Barker and I am a student at the University of Colorado Boulder. I am currently enrolled in a Digital Anthropology class, which attempts to answer how the digital world affects culture and how culture affects the digital world. For my final project I am doing an ethnography on women Wikipedia users and as a member of the WikiProject Women page I was hoping I could ask you some questions about your experiences editing Wikipedia pages.

1. Have you ever been locked into an intense editing war? If yes, please explain the situation to me.

2. How did you become interested in editing Wikipedia pages and did you have any initial fears/hesitations when you started editing pages?

3. Have you ever been a victim of a mass deletion or other vandalism on Wikipedia? If yes, please explain the situation to me.

4. How would you describe your gender?

5. Is there any thing else you would like to share with me about your experiences as a Wikipedia editor?

Thank you for taking the time to read this email. I would like you to know that I am only sharing my research with my professor and the other students in my class. If you would like me to send you a copy of my final project, I would be more than happy to! Sincerely. Stelba90 (talk) 00:42, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Stelba90 Thanks for your interest in my editing work. I have replied to your above questions. Please send me your report when finalized. Nvvchar. 08:59, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sai Baba

I may have mentioned this before, but Teh Ching, the Chinese-Javanese Zen teacher of Dutch Zen teacher Ton Lathouwers, was also a follower of Sai Baba. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 05:31, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
3 years ago a year-long celebration was planned during Swami Vivekananda's 150th birth anniversary. Between 11 and 26 September we had 6 DYKs on the dates Vivekananda delvered his lectures in Chicago.
Now, after 3 years, can we plan something similar this September? Please share your opinion and views. --Tito Dutta (talk) 08:44, 14 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 25

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Deogarh, Uttar Pradesh, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jagati (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Editor of the Week [27 August 2016]

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week for geography-related edits. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Sainsf submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I nominate Nvvchar (talk · contribs · count · logs) to be Editor of the Week for significantly contributing to articles related to the geography of several countries, especially India. His works, most recently on religious scriptures, are of high quality and have extensively improved Wikipedia's coverage – he has 1483 DYKs and 66 GAs to his name, and lots of others that are B or C class. I have had the pleasure of interacting with him through GA reviews, and he has always been polite and humble. I have noticed him in many good collaborations with other editors. I feel we all are quite fortunate to have such a gem among us, he truly deserves this award.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:
