I got your message. I will review the article ASAP and let you know when I have improved the references as best I can. Portions of my work on it came from the existing WP articles on Alvin (DSV-2) and Reynolds Metals Company, and they weren't well-referenced, so this will be a bit more challenging than it might at first appear, but other article improvements may be the result, so I reckon it is all good. Thanks. Mark, Vaoverland 14:43, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
With assistance from User:No1lakersfan (another member of WikiProject Virgina with whom I collaborate online), the references have been added. While we haven't found an image of Aluminaut which we can use in WP, we also located and added a US Govt image of the recovered Hydrogen bomb. I hope this will now be a good candidate for DYK, as it is an interesting piece of history. Please let me know if you see more with it that needs to be done. Thanks. Mark Vaoverland 01:21, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your comment on WP:BLP re: the Pappu Kalani article. I went through it and found the following murders are mentioned:
Other contentious material, such as charges of intimidation have also been referenced. The JJ Hospital shootout has also been referenced.
The article is quite dense with references (17 references for a 14K article), and I think it fully meets the BLP guidelines. Thanks for your comment, I think the article is stronger after this re-visit. mukerjee (talk) 16:05, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your good wishes. - P.K.Niyogi 02:19, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
I'd offer to help with a bit more than just adding even more to the already long list of suggestions, but things are a bit too hectic here. Perhaps once classes are done I'll be able to, but in the meantime, it makes for a perfectly good quick break when I need one. And besides, trivia's always fun!
If you get really desperate for a hand, though, let me know and I'll see if I can scrape together some time. -Bbik 03:19, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

You've been an admin for a year and you've been exceptional! Sarvagnya 04:01, 29 May 2007 (UTC) |
In the article State terrorism in Sri Lanka, you edit patterns which is contrary to the talk page tag which says that it is a controversial subject so please achieve consensus before making major changes is very disappointing. I can understand a tom, dick or harry indulge in such edit patterns but an admin should set the example for others to follow wikipedia rules and expectations. For example your personal opinion that Tamilnet is a blog is totally not acceptable to other wikipedians as well as reputable sources such as BBC, CNN and a number of research papers that is totally in disagreement with your personal opinion.. For example in an AFD this is what another wikipedian said about such comments.
“ | Comment: Yes. While recognizing that the Sri Lankan-Tamil civil war is a longstanding and viciously contested dispute, I decline to take notice of pissing matches between the various factions as to which source is supposedly discredited by its alleged adherence to one side or another. Fox TV is commonly presumed to be a biased mouthpiece for right-wing ideologues, but I don't think you'd get very far claiming it doesn't qualify as a reliable source on that count. RGTraynor 17:02, 24 May 2007 (UTC) | ” |
Just think about the above comment. Infact I am ready to follow wiki process of taking this difference of opinion step by step all the way to arbitration to stop this vicious cycle of edits and counter edits with snide remarks. What ever the wiki community thinks will be final. Thanks Taprobanus 13:13, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi, sorry to bother you, but it would be great if you would take some time to review the /Evidence and Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration/TingMing/Proposed decision. Some of us, including me, have responded to your reasons for objection with more details and explanations. Thanks, Vic226說 06:32, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
You closed this AfD with a delete result, but it is quite obvious to me that there is no consensus. Not counting the obvious single-purpose account, it was 3:3 keep to delete, and, at least in my opinion, the keep camp gave fair rationale. How is it that articles like this are kept, but this article was not? Two print sources were given, and the school is not a diploma mill, as you asserted in the closing comment (it's been around since 1924...hardly a diploma mill by modern standards). It would seem that most theological institutions are not accredited.
If this discussion does not yield the results I seek, I will probably put the article up for DRV. -- Cielomobile talk / contribs 08:27, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi Fayssal. I know that protection isn't an endorsement of the content, but I must say I am a bit depressed that stuff sourced from random blogs, tripod websites, google videos and partisan sources will be on display for seven days....As for discussing, I did put explanations in the edit summaries, and certainly am not a single topic editor (Tamil or Sinhalese) wrt this dispute. Thanks, Blnguyen (cranky admin anniversary) 03:56, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Well, I usually put a comment in the edit summary and then take it to the talk page from there, and I would have done so. But I will comment where necessary. Thanks, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:02, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Haven't done a proper read or fact-check, but have some general cribs. Shall I post them here ? Tintin 06:27, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Mainly, the amount of statistics and scores should be cut down and more substance added. Score-based articles may be okay for lesser cricketers but for Gavaskar I guess there should be enough documentation around (one autob and two autobiographical works plus more than three biographies on him ). Re. the missing things, take for instance the occasions when he lost the captaincy :
The general view of this is that SMG and Kirmani (who was replaced by Bharat Reddy ) were sacked from the captaincy and the team respectively because they were talking with Packer. I think SMG has denied it, not very sure. (Also seem to remember (not sure again) that the official reason was that Venkatraghavan was selected as the captain because he had experience in cricket in England and in one day cricket, but no one gives any credence to it).
What happened here was that, there was a WI tour planned in March 1980. Since there had been too much cricket that season, SMG wanted it to be postponed by two weeks. BCCI refused. So SMG refused to tour and since Viswanath was expected to be the captain, he stood down for the last two matches of the season to give him practice. In the end, WICB was not interested in a Gavaskar-less team and the tour was scrapped.
SMG captained India to a win in the WCC in Australia and then retired on his own (he had announced his intention to retire before the WCC began).
More context should be provided around the events. Mihir Bose should be useful for a lot of this. Tintin 06:42, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for commenting on my suggested tag for the article - in light of your thoughts, I have created a stub for Stereo Type (Puw), a redirect from Stereo Type and added a ((for)) entry to Stereotype. Oh, and re-wikilinked the tag accordingly! Hope this helps the article's chances in the busy world of DYK. Yours, Bencherlite 22:03, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

In my defence, none of the links i have posted have been inapropriate!! My link on 'Sun Wukong' pointed to my NON COMMERCIAL, NON PROFIT MAKING AND HOPEFULLY INFORMATIVE site which has a page/pages/references to Sun Wukong, likewise for Zhu Bajie, likewise for Sha Wujing, and so on.. Besides which, my links ARE NOT misleading - i clearly state the name of my site and what can be found on the other end of the link, giving the person reading the page a choice of whether to click on it or not. I can't make them follow the link, but if they do it's because they wanted to, and if they wanted to why shouldn't it be there? Why would you want to limit their options Mr Admin' dude? What happened to free speech/movement/information?? May i suggest, if you don't want links on the 'Tripitaka' (or any other page) pointing to 'Tripitaka not what YOU deem apropriate' pages, you be more specific with the page titles.
ThankYOU. custurd
I wouldn't class 'my' website as personal, for i am not really Monkey! I figure, as ALL linked websites are created by someone, they're all personal anyway, so strictly speaking - there should be NO links allowed? I would class mine as a fansite, i don't see anything in 'the guide of contradictions' about not allowing fansites. But seriously, it matters not what i think, i'm at your mercy, at the end of the day.

Hello User Blnguyen,
I am contacting you as I had requested a pov review of the Indo greek article (map in particular) but the administration has not responded. User phg deleted that status while I was away, but I reinstated it. So far four other users have complained about the accuracy of this article (windy city dude, vastu, pavanapuram, and mahitgar). Just to bring you upto speed
1. user vastu negotiated a settlement with user phg. user phg violated it after vastu left. 2. user sponsianus provided two maps (1 that even he admitted was inaccurate, and they other in contrast to the author's other maps and stated views). 3. users phg and sponsianus refused to negotiate in spite of repeated entreaties[[2]] 4. current indo greek article is 75% or more based on colonial scholar W.W. Tarn. 5. both indian and european scholars (modern) have remarked on the high degree of uncertainty surrounding the indo greeks 6. accurate oxford map was rejected by users phg and sponsianus on specious grounds
Please assist in commencing the administration review. Thank you.
Best Regards,
Devanampriya 00:13, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Blnguyen, I have a problem concerning plagiarism. I wrote the Rajendrasinhji Jadeja page referring to a number of online sources, including the Bharat Rakshak website, which at that time had a very small entry regarding this person. That website has since been "updated" based upon the Wikipedia page, (read especially the 3rd paragraph of this, but also the rest of it), and I am flattered, except that the page claims copyright on its contents!! Someone could easily claim that I committed copyvio and start deleting content or even nominate for deletion, which would be very unfair. What do you think I could do about this? In the past, I have myself nominated pages like Piru Singh and Jadu Nath Singh for being copy-paste from this very website (genuine copyvio cases, repeatedly recreated by the Rajput troll) and now I seem set to face the same accusation! ImpuMozhi 01:17, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Being a long standing member on BR, I can only say that BR, being a non-commercial entity, enforces its copyrights only to ensure that due credit is given. There is/are no restriction(s) on using BR material as long as you cite the actual source.
Nice work. —Moondyne 14:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
