Hi there, Yupik. You might like to look at this. Despite numerous additions, it's still being proposed for deletion. I hope your interesting session at Wikimania attracts some attention.--Ipigott (talk) 08:15, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
Hi,
We spoke today about orthographies in Cameroon, and how are they helpful or not.
What I know about this comes mostly from this very interesting article: Bird, Stephen. 2001. "Orthography and Identity in Cameroon.". It is linked from the Wikipedia article General Alphabet of Cameroon Languages.

Do you happen to know if there is documentation for the official orthography anywhere? Rua (mew) 08:11, 22 August 2019 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Jiella requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 05:47, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

On 8 October 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article REDress Project, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that the red dresses (example pictured) in Jaime Black's REDress Project represent the missing and murdered Indigenous women of Canada and the United States? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, ), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

This new article related to Sámi Studies was moved to Draft:Samica_(book_series). Can you help getting it pass through review? (I'm actually not getting what the problem was to begin with.)
Michael.riessler (talk) 07:24, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
I've made a start on this. It would be good to have her date of birth (or just the year). I have not been able to find anything more on her success in receiving ministerial funding for education in the Sami languages. Perhaps you can find something in Finnish.--Ipigott (talk) 15:06, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Please could you try and keep to the Wikipedia biography standards? I noticed that you added place of birth and death for Matti Ahde inside the brackets in the introduction. This is wrong in English wikipedia and I have corrected it. Deb (talk) 08:35, 20 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi Yupik! No rush, but if/when you have some time, can you take a look at the article on Kirsti Ilvessalo, which I translated from Swedish, but there's more info in the Finnish-language article? Thanks, and happy holidays. --Rosiestep (talk) 23:39, 19 December 2019 (UTC)
I have been wondering whether it would be useful to create Category:Sami women academics in line with the other categories listed under Category:Women academics by ethnicity. It looks as if it might be rather difficult as we do not have Category:Sami academics or Category:Sami women. So perhaps a first step would be to create Category:Sami academics along the lines of Category:Sami-language writers with subcategories on Category:Finnish Sami academics, Category:Norwegian Sami academics, Category:Russian Sami academics and Category:Swedish Sami academics. Or maybe we could simply create Category:Sami academics like Category:Sami actors, categorizing it with Category:Sami people by occupation and Category:Academics by ethnicity. We could then create Category:Sami women academics as a non-diffusing subcategory. What do you think?--Ipigott (talk) 13:06, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
I note you write Saami rather than Sami but a Google search shows that Sami is far more common in English. From what you say above, we need to take on a general revision of many of the Sami categories. Do you agree to the following?
Do we also need the following?
Before we actually go ahead and move them, it might be useful to see if there are comments from Ser Amantio di Nicolao and/or BrownHairedGirl, both of whom have done considerable work on categories.--Ipigott (talk) 16:53, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

Hi, Yupik, a message awaits for your input, or one Danish translation was picked up from OCLC database. I hope you can find which original title it was translated from.
Also, I used a Gadget to all raw http links so that titles and so on will be auto-filled. However, sorry that it applies access-dates as 23/24 February 2020, or the date the Gadget manouvred. If possible, could you correct the access-dates to when you have originally added them please? Lastly, will you please add the newpaper column title for their marriage notice, which was blank when I poked? Cheers, --Omotecho (talk) 20:04, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
