- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:I-Kiribati men. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:31, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: Upmerge for now. Having only one category is not helpful for navigation Mason (talk) 23:22, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Category:1992 in Yugoslav sport
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: rename, with split for 1992 and 1990s. – Fayenatic London 22:32, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: This proposal follows the pattern of other FRY category renames done over the last few weeks, like here or here or here. Do we add a definite article in the names? Not sure what's best for readability and/or use in supporting templates like ((YYY0s in nationality sport category header)). --Joy (talk) 12:30, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Rename per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:38, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Just a note that the '92 category should get re-created later, because Yugoslavia at the 1992 Winter Olympics belongs there as it describes transitional events from February '92 when former Yugoslavia was in the process of breakup. The majority of stuff, after April '92, goes to FRY categorization. --Joy (talk) 23:20, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: Split Unpoosed for three weeks. * Pppery * it has begun... 03:41, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: split, the category consists of three articles about the Proto-Indo-European language but not so much about language comparison and the remainder is about specific language comparisons, not broadly for the Indo-European language family. The two sets of articles are unrelated. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:53, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- The result of the discussion was: containerize by selectively upmerging articles within the nominated categories. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:40, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: containerize, violence in general is a far too common theme in films, but the subcategories are useful. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:08, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Why just films? I don't see how that doesn't apply to fiction in general. Category:Fiction about violence and Category:Works about violence should preferably be included in this. It could be a possibility to upmerge them to multiple categories, such as "conflict", "crime" or "social issues" depending on the subcategory. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 16:41, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Selectively upmerge to the parent categories. Crime and/or social issues, depending on the subcategory's topic. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 06:03, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- That is nice advice to keep in mind when processing the nomination, i.e. moving the articles to a better place while containerizing. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:57, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- The result of the discussion was: keep. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 23:28, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: Redundant category per WP:NARROWCAT. A blocked user moved these here, they should be moved back. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 06:40, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- The result of the discussion was: no consensus. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 12:42, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: Merge as unnecessarily specific overcategorization. There are only four actual characters in this category, and Elective mutism is in itself an outdated term that is no longer recognized by psychiatrists. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 06:13, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Mike (musician) albums. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:31, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: Created the category, it should be moved to Category:Mike (musician) albums so it links to Mike (musician) instead of the disambig page Mike. मल्ल (talk) 04:57, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: delete. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:30, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: This is a very trivial intersection and not a defining characteristic. At best this deserves a mention in the person's article (employment/education) —SpacemanSpiff 03:59, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Merge to Category:Vice Chancellors of Banaras Hindu University as it is an apparent duplicate. Don't delete, because Category:Vice Chancellors of Banaras Hindu University is a valid subcategory of Category:Vice-Chancellors by university in India. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:04, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose merge, it is not the same. The nominated article is for people(alumni and staff) from the Banaras Hindu Univ who went on to become Vice Chancellor of any university, anywhere, while Category:Vice Chancellors of Banaras Hindu University is of anyone who has been a Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu Univ. - I misunderstood the intention of the category. Then delete per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:12, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per nom. I was so confused. Thank you User4edits for clarifying. Mason (talk) 21:33, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge to Category:Banaras Hindu University alumni per definition above. Respublik (talk) 14:50, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Not a subset, this includes people who've worked at Banaras Hindu University but did not study there. —SpacemanSpiff 16:51, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Jewish businesspeople by nationality
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: Delete * Pppery * it has begun... 03:41, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: Right now this category doesn't help navigation (with only one category in it). Notably, there isn't a main category category: Jewish businesspeople, so I think we should repurpose this small category and reparent it. Then we can add in category:Jewish bankers Mason (talk) 02:03, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per WP:OCEGRS. Category: Jewish businesspeople was deleted for the same reason. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:05, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Perfectly fine by me. Does that mean we should manually upmerge the only child category from Category:German Jewish businesspeople to Category:German Jews, while we're at it? Mason (talk) 21:34, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Added, and have added folks from the German Jewish businesspeople category to the proper merge categories. Mason (talk) 23:24, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you. But merging won't be needed, the articles are already in century subcategories of the targets. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:58, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- The result of the discussion was: merge all as nominated with no prejudice against recreation if the category can be appropriately populated. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 22:23, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: Upmerge for now, at present it doesn't help navigation with only one category in it Mason (talk) 01:07, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge for now, without objection to recreate the category when multiple reasonably well populated subcategories can be added. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:10, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Works set in convents. (non-admin closure) HouseBlastertalk 21:25, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: Contains only subcategories by setting, including the target. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 00:59, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Support per nom. Mason (talk) 01:23, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Manually downmerge per nom (downmerging always requires manual action). Or phrased alternatively (with exactly the same result): re-parent Category:Works set in convents and delete Category:Convents in fiction. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:18, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
