This file has apparently had its copyright status changed by the author on Flickr since uploading, as it now displays "© All Rights Reserved" on the Flickr source. Keep Image: The File:Offshore platform on-route to final position, Jubilee field.jpg is being used in the Wikipedia articles Ghana (Ghana#Economy section) and Oil reserves in Ghana, as "Ghana is believed to have up to 5 billion barrels (790,000,000 m3) of oil in reserves." and that Ghana holds the world's twenty-fifth largest proven oil reserves. The oil industry is one of Ghana's biggest resources followed by Gas and the well known Cocoa and Gold. The image is also complements Ghana as the Worlds Fastest Growing Economy for the year 2011. This reason that I have stated now defeats the claim of: "as the image is only used for illustration and doesn't enhance the understanding of the topic and article doesn't contain critical commentary about it." from Armbrust. - MarkMysoe (talk) 22:47, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, that is still simply using the image for illustration. See our policy on non-free content. In order for an image to be used in this sort of context and adhere to policy, it must be available under a free license. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 15:22, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Image and its use qualify under Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. No free equivalent. The oilfield Offshore platform image is important to help identify Ghana as a oil and natural gas producer in line with the the oil company who own the "Jubilee oil field".--MarkMysoe (talk) 09:03, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But the image fails WP:NFCC#8, contextual significance. It's inclusion doesn't significantly enhance the readers understanding of the topic and it's omission isn't detrimental to it. It's goal to identify Ghana as a oil and natural gas producer could be conveyed with words alone and this particular picture isn't needed to that. Additionally the article (in which the picture is used) doesn't contain sourced critical commentary about the image. (A non-free image has satisfy all of the criteria and not just one of them.)
