disputing the PD claim - as far as I can tell this is a non-free logo and should be tagged as such (my preferred revision is at Special:PermaLink/858092133) FASTILY 20:43, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If the copyright tag is correct, this COA would need to have been published prior to 1946 to be public domain, correct? Is there evidence one way or the other for when it was published? --B (talk) 20:51, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This was apparently uploaded under CC 2.5, I'm not aware of BAE Systems (or Hawker) having released photos under that license. However as P1081 was an experimental aircraft lost in an accident in 1951, use of this image would I feel meet NFCC, as it wouldn't be possible to create a free replacement of this image. Image is in use, so a DI/PROD was not applicable. Given source is a dead link, meaning I can't easily check the license given. If this is own work it would need a confirmation from the uploader. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 08:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The uploader, AaronRoe, self-identifies as Aaron Fulkerson. There is no reason to doubt that this image is from anyone other than that person. He has contributed other images of the Boundary Waters to Wikipedia, [2], [3]; his personal blog says he has been in the BWCA, [4]; and has been to the Snowbank Lake area during 2005 when this image was taken.[5] Kablammo (talk) 18:29, 13 September 2018 (UTC))[reply]

This media was uploaded in good faith under CC By 2.5, given the licensing of the linked website. However, a press photo would presumably be subject to the normal copyright rules (independently of the site on which it appears), and so I would ideally like to see more information/clarification as to why the copyright in this specific photo had expired (was it no-notice or non renewal given the date for example). A confusing situation, The attributed creator is "Tim Harald", the uploader is "GSchjetne", but the photo is used on a different userspace page. Who actually created this, and what is the relation to the uploader or photo subject? A clarification would be desirable. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 08:43, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Image is unused, I've added information in good faith, but I am brining this to FFD on the grounds that an otherwise unused lo-res image isn't necessarily useful. Would this be of any use on Commons? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 08:49, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Refferal to FFD owing to a lack of clarity about who created this image. The image attributes "a member of the public", and makes a claim abut permission having been granted. How can that be verified? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 08:51, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
