The user’s upload history doesn’t give us a lot of confidence about their image sourcing. Probably taken from the web. Adeletron 3030 (talkedits) 01:04, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is a logo for a specific year of the awards, not a general logo for the award ceremony. As such, it fails WP:NFCC#8, as contrary to the fair use rationale on the image, it is not at the top of the article dedicated to the entity in question. (as that would be 2021 ESPNcricinfo Awards) Joseph2302 (talk) 07:47, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseph2302 Good to know, should I black out the year part and would that be acceptable. PalauanReich (talk) 11:21, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This file is likely a copyvio and should therefore be deleted. No link is provided to the alleged source of the photo to confirm the CC 3.0 license that is alleged. Sonoma State's athletics also don't appear to have a Flickr account and there aren't many other sources that even list a CC license. The only source I can find for this photo outside of Wikipedia is (a different version) on the cover of Sonoma State's 2018 baseball media guide where no CC license is listed. Dennis C. The cover of the July 1994 issue of Discover features a public domain NASA image. As the added text is unlikely to meet the threshold of originality, that would put the whole cover in public domain. I don't see any commentary specifically about the November 2014 issue, so we may be able to replace this non-free cover. Ixfd64 (talk) 19:11, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe this image qualifies for fair use. The subject was professionally active as an association football player from 1995 to 2003, and was alive until 2022, so the claim that the "creation of a free image is impossible" doesn't stand up.
