(eubot). Delete as WP:RFD#D5 nonsense: mix of something-halfway-between-German-and-English and English.

roundabout explanation. It's marked as ((R from title without diacritics)), because it was created from Uetikon am See (Zürich), yet the target has no diacritics. That's fixable, and we should mark as ((R from more specific geographic name)). What is not fine is that the English for "Zürich" is not "Zuerich" but, er, Zurich. I'd like to get some kind of general consensus of whether foreign-language transliterations are good disambiguation terms, when the words have been naturalised into English. I'm deliberately limiting that, since obviously some disambiguation terms need to be in the native language of the target, but this one falls in a valley between two Alps. There are many others of the same pattern. But, I'll say right now, with the Eubot redirects, I'd reckon about ten are OK for every one that is a bit iffy – perhaps even fifteen or twenty to one. Still, there are about 130,000 redirects, so that's a lot to get through. I'm trying (and over at WT:CSD to establish a conservative pattern for when we can suggest a criterion to delete the most obviously harmful ones speedily. Even if that is only one in twenty, it's a lot. It's a pity there's no obvious way to mark the "good" ones as "keep", yet. Si Trew (talk) 23:57, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(Eubot) Delete. A Turkish "ü", not a German one. Gsearch for "Ayseguel" gives me just the names of a few Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, for this exact title, even less. WP:RFD#D5 Delete as nonsense. Caps mistake is added bonus. No internal links, stats at 3 between the two of them in the last 90 days. Si Trew (talk) 23:20, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(Eubot). Created from György Stern, which was marked as ((R from title with diacritics)) but I've just changed to ((R from birth name)). This is a Hungarian "ö", not a German one, so the "oe" makes no sense here: Delete as WP:RFD#D5 nonsense. Si Trew (talk) 22:59, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have absolutely no idea whether these make any sense or not. Not at the target (" Gainlho Poirig Ranggyong Kü" is apparently the Tibetan pinyin), gsearch gives only 4 results, two from www.pronouncekiwi.com and two others from online "dictionaries". The second is a Eubot creation from the first. The target has sixteen other redirects, all of which are essentially transliterations, and I imagine some of which are unhelpful. (Eubot). English sources seem to give his name as "Nicholas of Flue" (without the diacritic), so the "Fluee" is an unlikely anglicisation, Delete as WP:RFD#D5 nonsense. The "Blessed" disambiguation(?) at the end is also rather strange. Si Trew (talk) 21:10, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Withdrawn by nominator. We'll try to consolitate the targets first, then return. (non-admin closure) by nominator, Si Trew (talk) 00:48, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure. The target is a DAB, but this could equally well go to Manasseh (disambiguation). Probably the two DABs could be combined (they're the same word in different forms) but even so, neither gives the word in this form. Nevertheless definitely the word is transliterated in this form, but we have a bit of an WP:XY. And my gsearch gives very few results in English, and those largely word-lists, so it might be WP:RFD#D8 too: most results are in French, although some are in Vietnamese (with French interposed). No links outside this discussion; stats down right now. Si Trew (talk) 20:07, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good idea, User:Gorthian. I'd seen those too but was trying to be brief. I agree, sort out the targets first. I'll withdraw this nom if that helps. Si Trew (talk) 23:07, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've left a note on the page over at anthroponymy. Withdrawing these two might be best until we can get it worked out. Thanks, Si. — Gorthian (talk) 00:40, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Eubot redirect. The target is (now) a DAB page listing several Mannasses but only one Manasse, Joseph S. Manasse, in its "See also". That being the case, I think that we should 'retarget it there.

Background: I can't see evidence of a relevant move, but this has come about as a back-formation from the redirect Manassê. Although "Manassê" is a variant of "Mannases" or "Mannaseh", its use in English seems very rare. We also have Manasses (given name), and I am not sure what value the DAB at Manasses is giving us that the given name article isn't. It's all a bit messy. The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. --BDD (talk) 17:01, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Delete as misleading, WP:RFD#D2. This was a UK consituency during the time of the Dáil Éireann (Irish Republic) (1919–1922) but has never been a constituency of the current Dáil Éireann. The version with diacritics was an article until 12 October 2007, when User:BrownHairedGirl redirected it. I appreciate it is old but doesn't make it right, or a likely search term. The version without diacritics was created as a variant by Eubot.

Dublin Harbour also redirects to the same target, so these are ((R from unnecessary disambiguation)), also. Too late, but I should have just moved the target over Dublin Harbour, but I've edited it by rcatting it. In any case, there may be a better target for Dublin Harbour, although I can't find one offhand. Si Trew (talk) 19:35, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dublin Harbour should either redirect to Dublin Port, or be a dab page between the port and this constituency. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:20, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have just converted[1] Dublin Harbour to a disambiguation page, and fixed[2] a misplaced incoming link. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:39, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You can choose whatever criteria you want. So can I: that's how we get consensus. Boldly changing a redirect to a DAB page while a discussion about it is in progress perhaps is jumping the gun. I am not going to get involved in Irish politics, but I'll let the discussion proceed in the usual manner, and be closed in the usual manner. I don't need to be bludgeoned into withdrawing it. You forgot to sign. Si Trew (talk) 00:54, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Si Trew Thanks for signing. I'm surprised that you don't want to address the WP:RFD#KEEP#1 issue. It looks fairly straightforward to me, and I don't see how asking you consider something which you appeared to have overlooked amounts to bludgeoning. As to not wanting to get involved in Irish politics, you chose to get involved when your nomination made assertions about Irish politics; I responded to that. Again, it's odd not to discuss issues raised when another assessment is offered; discussion is how we build consensus.
The Dublin Harbour redirect was not the subject of this nomination, so no gun was jumped. It is mentioned in the nom as a related issue, and two posts above you welcomed the change. All very odd. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:22, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The redirect of itself makes a statement about Irish politics, by redirecting a seemingly Irish redirect to a UK target. I refuse to be drawn into it. If it goes keep, so be it. I said of the change to a DAB "some good as come of it". You may have inferred of that, that no good would come of the rest, but you didn't infer that. Drop the stick and walk away. Si Trew (talk) 01:28, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There is no stick to drop. Simply a discussion which you opened, and in which you have been politely asked to respond to some issues arising from your nomination.
Yes, of course the redirect makes a statement about politics: it notes the fact that the constituencies established for the Westminster Parliament were used by Irish Republicans for elections to an independent parliament called Dáil Éireann.
So what is your objection to this redirect? Do you dispute that this happened? Or do you think it was wrong for people to have done it?
And if you "refuse to be drawn into it", why make a nomination on that basis? Very odd indeed. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:50, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt this is a plausible search term, even if it were, the song would be the primary topic as seen overwhelmingly in sources, not sure if we need a hatnote on the song article, still suggest deletion as it may distract or mislead readers looking for the song. Also note weird capitalization. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 05:07, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Of course it is (how does Dawson's Creek fit into that, by the way?) but I think it's better go to to the exact-title-matched article (or section of one, anyway). People looking for the song are likely to search by its actual title, I Don't Want to Wait. We wouldn't otherwise keep a redirect from lyrics (WP:NOTLYRICS is pretty consistently applied to redirects) and I prefer to account for correct usages before considering erroneous ones.
