Sorry, unregistered users cannot be granted permissions due to technical restrictions. Please create an account in order to request user account permissions.
Please review the AWB guide before making a request. Users with under 250 non-automated mainspace editsor500 total mainspace edits are rarely approved. You can check your non-automated contributions on XTools. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to request access. For bots, please consult the Bot Approvals Group or bureaucrats' noticeboard about adding AWB access. This page is for requesting AWB Access for English Wikipedia only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for that purpose; first create the account, give it a userpage declaring it to be your alternate account, then make the request using your main account.
I will be doing some extremely repetitive edits for articles under WikiProject Automobiles due to some changes in convention, and some car companies had changed their name so I should went and change it in each car articles. I want to use AWB to do that to save time. Andra Febrian (talk) 14:19, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aware. It will be repetitive. For example, the manufacturer Kia Motors has just changed their name to Kia. I'm sure AWB could help me to remove Kia Motors in favour of Kia in many Kia model articles. I will do different edits for sure, but obviously in a different session. Perhaps my wording wasn't clear enough. Andra Febrian (talk) 14:30, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Most of my edits in Wikipedia are fixes of small typos and inconsistencies and such, and I would like to be able to use AWB to be able to efficiently do so in the future. Playlikeastar (talk) 01:48, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am requesting AWB today to easy my load on my background maintenance. I do a lot of cleaning up and switching dmy dates, etc. etc., and AWB would make it a lot easier for me to do this. Thank you in advance, Kline | vroom vroom17:51, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've been looking to do some repetitive changes on Wikipedia for a while; including fixing links, adding short descriptions and tags for "Use British English" and "Use dmy dates". There would be hundreds (if not thousands in the long-term) of articles that I want these adding to, so I've been putting it off until I learned that this tool can help to ease repetitive edits, so it would be very useful. – DarkGlow (contribs • talk) 14:57, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: I would like to have this authorization because I would like to increase the number of my contributions Dr Salvus (talk) 17:09, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Dr SalvusDr Salvus (talk) 17:09, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Dr Salvus: I'm concerned that your statement is not quite a good reason for AWB. AWB doesn't even increase the number of edits, in some cases it reduces it. For example, typo fixing that usually requires 5-6 edits to detect each one of them would be bundled into a single edit thanks to AWB. Regards, Jeromi Mikhael17:24, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've been doing various repetitive edits, and AutoWikiBrowser would help out with many of these. I already have rollback and PC permissions, which up until recently was just about all I did. I have over 500 non-automated edits, nearly all of them to mainspace. RedPanda2500:21, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I want to use AWB because I want to fix typos that I made. I am not a native speaker of English, so I frequently make a ton of typo in every single article. Moreover, I also made lists in the past and interested in keep making lists in a faster way. Regards, Jeromi Mikhael11:30, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Leaning decline on this one - we shouldn't be using automated tools to fix the mistakes we make, we should use the Preview button and double-check our edits before needing a semi-automated tool (which likely won't catch the mistakes anyway) to make a second edit. I'm an active editor of templates—scroll down here to see some templates I've created in the last few months—and believe that having this tool would be beneficial, as I could rapidly add new templates to all of the appropriate pages. Doing so manually is extremely tedious, especially with larger templates I've made like Byzantine music. In the immediate future, I plan to use it for putting my Trouvère template on every page (which I am yet to yet because of the large amount of articles included), and the same for Template:Troubadour (when I make it!).
