Fails WP:NENAN The Banner talk 23:30, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The good news: I am finished checking the 1290 templates created by Jax. The Banner talk 23:41, 8 June 2013 (UTC) [reply]
- LOL. Now we just have to wait for Jax to create enough articles to save as many as he can and notify Frietjes so he can proxy for him at TfD and add the articles to the nominated templates. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 02:21, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- When he starts producing quality articles, I have no problem with that. Otherwise: the axe! But I leave it to you to keep Jax on his toes. The Banner talk 04:04, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I would appreciate it if you would use my talk page if you have a problem with my edits instead of attacking me at TfD. I'm sure it's shocking that I actually have an opinion that is independent of yours and Jax. Frietjes (talk) 15:36, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- keep the ones that have enough links, delete the ones that don't. it should be a simple counting exercise to figure out which one had enough links, but was still nominated, which ones now have enough links after linking EPs and songs that were unlinked. Frietjes (talk) 17:40, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment. These templates have varying elements and qualifications going for them. Some of these are worth keeping, while others are not. I would probably say that templates worth keeping would include those with more than one section, such as Zola Jesus and Audio Bullys. Templates worth deleting would include those which detail thin discographies, or which only host studio albums, such as the templates of Jessie James and Disarmonia Mundi. I would also discourage templates that feature partial or full discographies of other music projects, as well as templates that focus on a singular musician without an actual solo career. Mungo Kitsch (talk) 06:30, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- WP:NENAN asks for at least 5 relevant links towards the subject. Excluded from those relevant links are in effect the backlink to the subject itself, "related items" (most of the time the linked item is not directly relevant to the subject, like record companies or other bands). Links other bands are also seen as not relevant to the subject (those bands should have their own nav box when enough relevant links available) The Banner talk 20:53, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- delete once you remove the intersection with Dog Fashion Disco (which has a navbox), the next largest project is Polkadot Cadaver. however, since Polkadot Cadaver is a continuation of Dog Fashion Disco, that content could be merged there. then, there is very little left, as indicated in the nomination. - Sorry, but I count the existing links. I don't use a crystal ball to see what the future can be bringing. The Banner talk 15:35, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- and deleting ones that will be shortly recreated is a pointless exercise (sloppy nomination can be just as troublesome). Frietjes (talk) 17:15, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- There's a big difference between the potential growth for navboxes such as the ones for Dean Martin and Peter Schilling. While neither as is pass NENAN, there are plenty of other articles for albums and songs by Dean Martin that can be added to ((Dean Martin)). There are no such additional articles for Peter Schilling to populate ((Peter Schilling)) further. Keep Martin, Delete Schilling. Per WP:TfD, "templates should not be nominated if they can be fixed by normal editing". I really wish you would slow down Banner. I know you're just attempting to clean up Jax's mess and have put a lot of time in reviewing his history of horrible navbox creations, but this is starting to look more like a crusade. You're just cluttering up TfD with only you and Frietjes regularly taking part in these discussions, which IMO is not beneficial to the process. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 18:26, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- and Peter Schilling technically passes the arbitrary requirement, which is an essay by the way. I agree that the use of a "mass nomination spree" was not well thought out, since it reduces the quality of the discussion, and titling the nominations with Jax makes it look like an attack on an editor. if this were all based on some sort of policy, they would have been speedy deletion candidates. Frietjes (talk) 15:25, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I wasn't arguing NENAN for keeping or deleting but as a response to the nomination, which was based strictly on the number of existing links. Meaning, I wouldn't suggest deleting the Dean Martin template even if it had only 2 links. And thanks for letting me know that WP:NENAN is an essay, I didn't know that. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 20:31, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete Moist, not about moist -- 65.94.79.6 (talk) 06:15, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Procedural keep for now. It seems that some of these navboxes may have more merit than others, and trying to discuss their varying merits doesn't fit well in one group nomination. So I suggest closing this group nom, and opening individual nominations for any of these templates which the nominator still thinks should be deleted. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 10:49, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Template:Aranda (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Fails WP:NENAN. I don't think guest musicians are relevant at all. The Banner talk 18:01, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- weak keep, the four core links plus the band is five links, and the band is still active. Frietjes (talk) 18:22, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. The guest musicians are too loosely-connected to justify inclusion in the navbox, and without them there are not enough links. Per WP:NENAN, the head article should not be counted (because the article will link to it alreday), so that leaves us with only 4 links (to the albums).
Also, Stop the World (Aranda album) shows no evidence of notability. If that page is deleted (as it should be), there would be only 3 links. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 08:33, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Are there presently at least five articles (not counting the primary article) on which your navbox will be used?" The debate on this one is whether or not the "guest musicians" that aren't part of the group/primary topic should be included. Technical 13 (talk) 18:55, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Further to TFD consensus from March 2013, these templates do not serve any purpose as they do not efficiently navigate between notable articles. There are a total of 45 such templates remaining; over the coming weeks I intend to bring them all to TFD in 3 batches of 15. GiantSnowman 13:27, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Oppose. Strong oppose for Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechoslovakia, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Yugoslavia. Normal navboxes there. The purpose is useful navigation between such tournaments. But other templates (Luxembourg, Albania, Moldova, Malta, etc) with one-two links must be deleted. Btw, WP:NENAN is only essay, not rule. Another essay is Wikipedia:A navbox on every page. NickSt (talk) 14:05, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- You have mentioned a number of templates which have not been nominated, and you have not mentioned a number of templates that have. - Keep: Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechoslovakia, England, Estonia, Finland. Navigation between more than 4–5 tournaments (for top-football countries usually). Delete: Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Faroe Islands. Unneeded navigation between 1–3 articles only. I don't sure about Belgium, because only one blue link now. NickSt (talk) 18:29, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete all - I don't think these templates provide navigation between related articles, they provide navigation between remotely related articles (at first it looks like these templates are for tournaments hosted by a country, but it looks like other tournaments where teams from that country participates also are included). The Scandinavian ones were deleted in March 2013, and when I look at the other countries it is a similar problem: One friendly-tournament for national teams are in the same template as a competitive tournament for clubs just because it happens to be arranged in the same country. IIt should also be noted that articles like Baltic Cup (football) and Balkan Cup (and probably many others) got several of these templates. WP:A navbox on every page is an essay, not WP:Fourteen navboxes on every page. My guess is that a template that includes international tournaments in Europe (like the two mentioned above and the Nordic Football Championship and similar articles) or one template with friendly tournaments for clubs (as long as you differ between competetive and friendly tournaments) would have a bigger chance of surviving TfD than these templates, as they would provide navigation between related articles.
