- I think this is premature. Fine for ones with only a handful of transclusions, but it hasn't even been a month since the rollout of the new ((IPA)). Editors aren't quite used to the new syntax yet, and may not even be aware of the deprecation. And deleting them will turn transcriptions into red links in old revisions. Maybe run the bot right now, but wait for at least six months, preferably a year, before deleting them. Nardog (talk) 08:58, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- We already handled this kind of replacement with ((In lang)) and other templates. Editors learn faster than we give them credit. Also, if this replacement doesn't happen, then it will always be "too soon" as a "deprecated" notice is meaningless for most editors as they won't even enter the template page to view it in first place. - A bot replacing all extant uses will definitely get them notice. And unlike ((In xx)), IPA-xx not only accept parameters but show the content of the first one as entered. Not being able to see it in non-latest revisions that aren't even months old would be too inconvenient. So make old revisions work for a while; we can do that with

The ellipsis in the middle of the word seems to make this an implausible search term. Admittedly, Titin is known for its extremely long scientific name, but utilizing exactly the first 41 characters, followed by an ellipsis plus the remaining 10 characters, does not seem to be very plausible way of searching. - A template with ~10 transclusions does not need any significant treatment and WP:BOLD is perfectly fine. That said, your revert was probably the right choice there. However, creating a template with zero documentation and no indication of all of its features isn't helpful. The category text for example is completely inappropriate in a non-talk page, as it doesn't say anything about the category, but about why it was created, which should be (and after my edit, is) handled in the talk page.
