Newbie[edit]

Hello all, have been editing for 3 1/2 years in Indian films (saw hundreds) and now wish to picture-edit many of the film posters, beginning with early Tamil films. Thai Ullam of 1952 is a good example. Many aren't pictured squarely, have tattered edges, creases, stains etc. Have GIMP program and have used it on a couple hundred of my own pictures. I just want to restore original appearance as much as possible. As Lincoln said "It is above our poor power to add or detract. I may not be programmed for etiquette and protocol, but I wish to get the procedural stuff right. I've read that you don't have to be in the graphics lab list, but i'm announcing that I will be doing it. Comments? Suggestions? Menjobleeko11 (talk) 01:08, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Veronesi[edit]

Francesco Veronesi is a very good photographer. He is particularly focused on bird photography. His Flickr profile counts well over 13,000 photos, and he is active as ever. Commons holds 4829 of his photos (March 2021), of which 2558 photos are used on-Wiki, not less than 18,383 times. Nice photos, a real success story. I have a question, though. Many of his photographs carry a very faint watermark in the middle of the image, and some a more clear watermark down left. Any thoughts? Vysotsky (talk) 23:35, 8 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Program for finding needed photos[edit]

If anyone is interested, I've written a Python program designed to find articles that need photos near a given location. You can find it here: User:Mx. Granger/Photo program. (Also, let me know if you have suggestions for anywhere else I should post this.) —Mx. Granger (talk · contribs) 09:09, 22 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Mx. Granger: WikiShootMe does something similar on an interactive zoomable map. Cheers, cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 01:04, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That looks great! Thanks for the recommendation. —Mx. Granger (talk · contribs) 03:43, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
A few hours ago, walking in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, I was using the WikiShootMe to find targets and Commons App to shoot and upload the pictures. It would be pleasant if one of those could include the features and capabilities of the other. Another nice feature would add coords from the "Image requested" categories. Looking for some input from a photographer[edit]

I'd love to hear an independent editor with photography experience chime in in this discussion. Thanks so much! Filetime (talk) 21:08, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm again looking for some more input from photographers at another discussion regarding image quality here. Filetime (talk) 15:48, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Old items moved to wrong archive[edit]

Something must have gone wrong with the set-up of the new archives (2023). ClueBot is now moving old topics (dated January 2023) to the Archive of November 2022, see here. --- Vysotsky (talk) 14:16, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
