Oakland is a city in California. It is across the bay from San Francisco. It is the county seat of Alameda County and the third-largest city in the Bay Area, after San Jose and San Francisco. At one time, Oakland had many factories that built cars, ships and airplanes. It is a major seaport and rail junction. It is the home of the Athletics baseball team.
California governor Jerry Brown was once mayor of Oakland. The current mayor is Sheng Thao.
