DeWitt Clinton was the seventh and ninth Governor of New York, serving from 1817 to 1822 and from 1825 to 1828. He was the nephew of George Clinton, first and third Governor of New York. He was unsuccessful candidate for President of the United States of America in the presidential election of 1812.
