Farrokh Shahr (Persian: فرخ شهر; formerly, Ghahfarokh, Ghahfarrokh, Qahfarokh, and Qahfarrokh)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Farrokhshahr District of Shahrekord County, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Iran,[4] located 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from the provincial capital, Shahrekord. The city is populated by Persians with a Luri minority.[5]
At the 2006 census, its population was 28,920 in 7,532 households, when it was in the Central District.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 30,036 people in 8,266 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 31,739 people in 9,292 households,[2] by which time it had been transferred to the newly formed Farrokhshahr District.[4]
