All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is an American professional wrestling promotion based in Jacksonville, Florida, and is considered the second largest wrestling promotion in the United States behind WWE. Title reigns are either determined by professional wrestling matches or are awarded to a wrestler as a result of the culmination of various scripted storylines.
There are currently nine total championships in AEW, with five singles championships, one traditional tag team championship, and one six-man tag team championship for male wrestlers, and two singles championships for female wrestlers. Championships from AEW's sister promotion Ring of Honor are also occasionally defended on AEW programming; its titles can be found at the Ring of Honor article.
As of April 19, 2024, 10 wrestlers hold AEW's championships, with the traditional tag team title being vacant. This list includes the number of times the wrestler has held the title, the date and location of the win, and a description of the winning bout.
The American professional wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW) promotes several professional wrestling championships for its men's and women's divisions. AEW often broadcasts championship matches on their weekly television programs—Wednesday Night Dynamite, Friday Night Rampage, and Saturday Night Collision—as well as television specials, including Battle of the Belts. Championship defenses also occur at the promotion's periodic pay-per-view events.
At the top of AEW's championship hierarchy for male wrestlers is the AEW World Championship. It is held by first-time champion Samoa Joe, who defeated MJF at Worlds End on December 30, 2023.[1]
Secondary titles for male wrestlers include the AEW TNT Championship, the AEW International Championship, and the AEW Continental Championship. The TNT Championship is a television championship, the International Championship has a special attribute in which it can be defended in other promotions globally (although the majority of defenses have been held in AEW), while the Continental Championship is defended under Continental Rules in which no one is allowed at ringside and outside interference is strictly prohibited. Additionally, when the Continental Championship is held simultaneously with the ROH World Championship of sister promotion Ring of Honor (ROH) and the Strong Openweight Championship of partner promotion New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), the holder is recognized by AEW as an American Triple Crown Champion, also referred to as the Continental Crown Champion.
The TNT Championship is held by two-time champion Adam Copeland, who defeated Christian Cage in an "I Quit" match on March 20, 2024; the match started on Dynamite and concluded on Rampage, which aired back-to-back.[2] The International Championship is held by first-time title holder Roderick Strong, who defeated Orange Cassidy at Revolution on March 3, 2024.[3] The Continental Championship is held by first-time champion Kazuchika Okada, who defeated Eddie Kingston on the March 20, 2024, episode of Dynamite.[4]
The FTW Championship is a tertiary level championship, considered (in storyline) as an unsanctioned "outlaw" title. It is held by record-tying two-time champion Hook, who defeated Jack Perry in an FTW Rules match on August 27, 2023, during the All In Zero Hour pre-show.[5]
The AEW World Tag Team Championship is AEW's traditional tag team title, being contested by teams of two wrestlers. As of March 3, 2024[update], the championship is vacant. Former champions Sting and Darby Allin vacated the title due to Sting's retirement following their defense at Revolution on March 3, 2024.[6] New champions will be crowned in a tournament final at Dynasty on April 21, 2024.[7]
The AEW World Trios Championship is a six-man tag team championship, contested by teams of three wrestlers, referred to as trios. It is held by first-time champions The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) and Billy Gunn, who defeated The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews) in a House Rules No Holds Barred match on August 27, 2023, at All In.[8]
At the top of AEW's championship hierarchy for female wrestlers is the AEW Women's World Championship. It is held by record-tying three-time champion "Timeless" Toni Storm, who defeated Hikaru Shida at Full Gear on November 18, 2023.[9]
The secondary title for female wrestlers is the AEW TBS Championship, which is also a television championship. It is held by first-time champion Julia Hart, who defeated previous champion Kris Statlander and Skye Blue, who she pinned, in a three-way match at Full Gear on November 18, 2023.[10]
