I know there is little chance of anybody reading this since these comments were made ages ago, but why? What's wrong with "ABC News"? That's what it's called... Watch your local ABC station. They don't say "American Broadcasting Company News"... --Peng 15:07, 19 May 2005 (UTC)

The problem is that "ABC News" can refer to multiple items, mainly Australian BC News and American BC News. Both have an equally valid claim to the name and so the obvious solution is to append a (USA) or (Australian) suffix on the end and make "ABC News" a disambiguation page, listing both articles. I don't see what the problem with this obvious solution is? I just can't understand why it wasn't done years ago. Canderra 02:41, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Having watched probably about a dozen episodes of the ABC Evening News program on late-night cable from my home country of the UK over the past few months, I couldn't help but notice a very prominent Christian underpinning to pretty much every show. To date, I think every episode I've seen has shown atleast one or more stories which have either featured interviews with members of the clergy or stories which have had some form of religous emphasis.

This seemed extremely odd to me as here in the UK it is quite rare to see a religous figure or for stories to have a religous emphasis on the evening news programs. I am wondering therefore, is ABC News known for having a particularly evangelical Christian overtone or does religion just feature reguarly on most US TV news programs? I've noticed that too, and I'd say it arrived with the departure of Peter Jennings. I believe the management of ABC News made a deliberate decision to try to appeal to a completely different market segment and saw the change of anchorship as the obvious indication of their new direction. And so every episode has to have at least one story arranged to pander to American Christian conservatives. I don't know if it will work for them; speaking just for me, I changed the channel. If I wanted that sort of news, I'd have already been watching Fox News.

Absent a quote from management or some media-watch group, though, I don't think we can include this in the article, no matter how obvious it is to us.

This is one of the most surprising comments I've heard about network news in awhile. I stopped watching any network news except Fox when the Iraq War started. I laugh when I hear people say Fox isn't conservatively biased; almost as hard as when someone says network news isn't liberally biased. While I'd prefer watch "objective" reporting, as a libertarian with conservative values my choice is an easy one. Looks like it didn't work out for them all that well, even with Lawyer2b's added viewership. Down 10% of their audience/~1,000,000 viewers, Vargas out, ... Ahh well. Maybe they'll get back to real news now? They hit Denny Hastert pretty hard last night.

Hi, I just did a little editing on the 'edges', so to speak, and I noticed a new section saying "While many do not call ABC News a Liberal-biased News Channel, it does subtly reflect this in much of it's reporting." I don't know whether or not this is correct, but I wasn't sure whether that section should be there or not. Any thoughts?

Critics of the channel say that ABC News openly promotes liberal and far left political positions. Other critics of the network news organization contend that it is in the pocket of the vast right wing conspiracy and still others declare that it is run by reptoid aliens. Why have you not made a clear statement that Obama used a Muslim bible to be sworn in as a U. S. senator?

It IS important that we have a non muslim for our president.

Such scheduling information as is listed in the article is 100% arbitrary by the managers of the TV networks, and the information is subject to be changed at any time at all. The Wikipedia is not a "TV guide" of a cuckoo clock, and such transitory and readily-changeable information does not belong here. I have seen other such items places in other Wikipedia articles, such as railroad schedule information. Such things are non-encyclopedic and unsuitable for placing in the Wikipedia. For Pete's sake, next people will be posting the weather forecasts in the Wilipedia.

Ongoing complaints of ABC political bias were echoed by critics pointing out an ABC News headline (since removed from ABC's News Web site) describing Palin as a "Pitbull" and the following day placing rapper P. Diddy's video about Sarah Pailinrun on 10/3/2008 on the front page of the ABC News website with the video title on the ABC site: "I'm afraid of Sarah Pailin". Critics point out that ABCs [lack of?] journalistic neutrality and obvious support of one candidate over another come into focus with news coverage like this. P. Diddy has a history of implying that Pailin is racist despite the fact that her husband is of Eskimo descent and her children are bi-racial.

Does anyone do long-term tracking of ABC & the other mainline media? A major story possibly ignored or underreported by ABC till it got to big to ignore might be the June 6 2010 large protest at Ground Zero against a mega-mosque to be built about 600' away by a controversial leader. I searched ABC's online site for the June 6 2010 protest at Ground Zero (Estimated 5-possibly 10,000 protestors protested against a proposed "mega mosque" at Ground Zero. Search online to see many photos that show a large, peaceful protest with speakers from various racial, ethnic backgrounds on this controversial proposed "mega mosque" and its leader.)

On the ABC online site (as of this day) I do see ABC listed coverage from about June 25 onward. Some charge that ABC and its like under report or ignore some major news stories or cultural phenomenons until they get too large to ignore. It has occurred to me that there is no criticism or controversies section in this article. Now i'm from the UK and so perhaps don't understand the USA broadcast culture very well... but it seems that CBS News, Fox News, CNN and NBC News/CNBC do have documented criticisms on wiki, but not ABC News... why was there no mention of the death of George McGovern from South Dakota on the Monday nighly news? He did more good for this country and across the world with his Feed the Hungry. He was an advocate for peace and a real humanatarian. He is someone we should all strive to be like. This country should be made aware of his accomplishments and what a truly good man he was. Instead we heard once again about Lance Armstrong and the man in Michigan who killed 3 people.
