Is there some kind of strength index for the game? 208.47.17.91 04:02, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
If the Chess source code is free, is there some reason it isn't ported to Linux and Windows. Surely, someone would have ported it... --RaviC 19:41, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes it is Sjeng now (version 11.2 on Mac OS X 10.4). You can even run Sjeng from the Terminal command line:
$ cd /Applications/Chess.app/Contents/Resources/ $ ./sjeng Sjeng: help
For reference, the strength slider only has 12 distinct settings, from -3 to 8. Negative values limit search depth from 1 to 3 ply, positive values limit search time from 1 to 256 seconds in powers of two. Since Sjeng searches on the opponent's time (pondering), all the positive levels (slider to the right of the 'Pl' of "Computer Plays:") are still quite strong. --IanOsgood (talk) 05:46, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Hello, this particular application is made for every Mac OS X release. I believe it's a notable game because it is a software packaged for a notable computer system. I am also comparing this game with others such as Minesweeper (Windows). RaNdOm26 (talk) 22:01, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Image:OPENSTEP Chess.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The article has been tagged for notability concerns, as it does not reference reliable third-party sources. It's since been prodded with those same concerns, but the prod has been contested saying that sources are available. I've tried searching myself, but have not been able to find anything. If you are aware of anything to source this article with, please can you add it to the article. Please note that unsourced articles may be flagged for deletion. Many thanks for your time and effort, Gazimoff WriteRead 00:01, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Please change Chess (application) to a separate page and not connected to Chess (Mac OS).
I wanted Chess (application) to be a disambiguation page.
The result of the move request was: procedural close, please discuss at Talk:Calendar (Mac OS)#Requested moves —innotata 02:05, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
Chess (Mac OS) → Chess (OS X) – I'm suggesting a move for a couple of OS X applications. OS X is the current name for the operating system, and it's well-known and accepted. Mac OS might be appropriate if this was an app that remained from 'classic' Mac OS, but it's not: it only ever ran on OS X. Blythwood (talk) 02:58, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Calendar (Mac OS) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 02:14, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
