Nevermind about these actually; just went ahead and revise it myself.
I re-revised here a bit. The source doesn't actually say when he met his wife, just that it was at a game in Moose Jaw. I also clarified - Morweena isn't his hometown, I'm guessing his hometown is too small to have a high school.

Some more work to do, but nothing huge. Rather than have you make a bunch of minor edits, I ended up just doing a copy edit myself throughout the rest of the article. Good luck! Orlandkurtenbach (talk) 00:33, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, looks good! I made some additional revisions to close out the GAN and promote the article. I googled the high school and it is, in fact, in Arborg, so I re-inserted the fact it's in his hometown. Also did some prose revisions to the playing style and the ECHL playoffs. Other than that, good work! Yayy for GA.. Orlandkurtenbach (talk) 07:44, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Title Change

[edit]

Has Reimer gained enough notability to warrant a name change to just 'James Reimer' instead of 'James Reimer (ice hockey)'? The identifier at the end was to distinguish him from the late A. James Reimer, a Mennonite theologian, who I am sure did wonderful work in his field, but who may not be known outside of that. I feel anyone looking up Reimer or James Reimer would be looking for the professional goaltender, and those who look up A. James Reimer, probably already know about him. I move to change the article title. Uncleben85 (talk) 21:10, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

James Reimer is a bigot? My wikipedia, political views are wrong. We need neutrality to approve this garbage. Please change this immediately 129.222.99.131 (talk) 01:44, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Re-establish LGBT controversy

[edit]

Please add back the controversy. It is important that his views are publicly shared. Neutrality is displaying it as it is. He refused to wear an LGBTQ jersey on pride night, and that caused controversy. 70.30.39.200 (talk) 03:35, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No, it really isn't important in any way. Nobody with anything in their life cares about whether or not a hockey player wore a shirt. 2601:600:817F:A8E0:8121:8310:21B3:4A8 (talk) 06:54, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nobody cares about his faith either.
If you are going to include statements about his belief in god, you need also to include his lack of support for the NHL's Pride initiatives, for which many people see as him being homophobic. They are equally relevant, so describe both or describe neither. Fielding99 (talk) 15:13, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
do NOT restore that hate filled remark. He is a good, faith based man who openly loves everyone and simply chooses to live and let live. At NO time has he ever been afraid of homos and is definitely NOT homophobic, a label he has never endorsed. Just because a person lives by God's judgement does not make them against or afraid of homos. Stop spreading this malicious, divisive hate! 98.97.115.27 (talk) 14:32, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Homos? Sounds like there is a problem here. Fielding99 (talk) 15:10, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Homos is derogatory, that says alot about you. But put that aside,as a gay guy, if James has beliefs and faith on the Bible, and doesnt go against us, then its whatever. 62.4.44.178 (talk) 21:19, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed this should be re-added 2605:8D80:647:692D:4548:ECD7:1194:D68C (talk) 15:05, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Should not be added. Reimer made a personal decision. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 16:08, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@70.30.39.200 I agree wholeheartedly. Good people should be allowed to know that there are people brave enough to stand up for their convictions and they can do it too. 107.115.165.57 (talk) 22:35, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There must be some Wikipedia policy to go by, rather than simply basing this off of people's desires. This has become a big issue.

It may be time to bring in an impartial expert to determine whether the inclusion of this section is appropriate and encyclopedic or not. 216.126.73.219 (talk) 00:35, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
