I'm a 30-something English IT consultant living in a leafy suburb of London, although I have a degree in Genetics and a wide variety of interests. I have a fairly low attention span, which means I haven't got close to taking one article to Good or Featured standard, but makes me quite effective as a roving cleaning/anti-vandal/minor article improvement janitor. This roving around Wikipedia has, much like the Marauders of Harry Potter fame, led to my understanding of most of the less-travelled pathways of Wikipedia, and I like to help out on the Helpdesk and New contributors' help page. Other than that, I keep an eye on my watchlist, fix and improve where I can, get frustrated with vandals and try to help with the wikify mountain.
If there's any way I can help you, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page.
Oh, as for the user name, it comes from a supporting character in A Wizard of Earthsea, one of the very best books I read as a child, and one of the more influential on my life.
Incidentally, I am mentoring my girlfriend on Wikipedia, she is User:Lynnathon; should our areas of editing overlap, that is why. Neither of us is a sockpuppet of the other, and we don't always agree of Wikipedia issues! :-)
A small cross-section of some the subjects I'm interested in:-
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this great encyclopedia - something that pulled the web out of its first Dark Age, and is likely the greatest collaborative learning experience in human history. 6,784,567 pinpricks of light in the darkness of human ignorance...
That's all for now.

This is, at the time of writing, the biggest backlog of work in the wiki. Please help out if you can!
This is a list of the typo correction actions I've taken as part of the typo correction team.
Please proofread the daily tip...
It's displayed below one day early. Some tips are obsolete. So we need new tips too. Please share your best tips and tip ideas at the Tip of the day department. edit Tomorrow's tip of the day... Mobile view sidebar from the desktop
This gadget option (for Vector skin) shows the desktop page in a mobile view sidebar while browsing the desktop site. Enable this mobile view in your Gadgets section of your Preferences. Check the box for: Mobile sidebar preview - Show page in mobile view while browsing the desktop site, then scroll to bottom of page and save your changes. There is a Smartphone shaped icon located in the top bar of tabs. Press the Smartphone icon to toggle the mobile view on and off. The expanded screenshot here is highlighted with a red box and arrow for illustrative purposes. You can turn off the mobile view by pressing the white-X in the black button at the bottom of the Smartphone frame. The Smartphone frame includes its own scrollbar independent of the Desktop scrollbar. – – See also: To add this auto-updating template to your user page, use ((totd-tomorrow))
