It would be really helpful if you would follow things like the use of en dash between years, and comma placement relative to birth years etc., rather than inserting errors for others to clean up. Dicklyon (talk) 02:42, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
I've reverted you at your most recent edits to get your attention on this. Please ask here if you need help on what we mean or how to enter en dashes. Dicklyon (talk) 15:21, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
Someone using this IP address, 108.54.69.247, has made edits that do not conform to our policies and therefore have been reverted. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you did not do this, you may wish to consider getting a username to avoid confusion with other editors. If you'd like to experiment with the syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles.
You don't have to log in to read or edit pages on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free, requires no personal information, and has many benefits. Without a username, your IP address is used to identify you.
Some good links for newcomers are:
Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and a timestamp. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask the Help Desk, or place ((helpme))
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
Again, welcome! Jooojay (talk) 04:29, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to List of African-American visual artists, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Jooojay (talk) 19:40, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at List of Ivorian writers. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Dicklyon (talk) 05:47, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing.
If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at List of Indian journalists, you may be blocked from editing. Your refusal to talk back, and continuation of wrong-style edits, is disruptive. Dicklyon (talk) 23:40, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
I started the section WP:AN/I#Can we block to get attention? to see if admins can help get your attention. Feel free to respond there or here (by editing the page). Dicklyon (talk) 22:58, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at List of Indian journalists. If you don't respond here or stop what we're trying to get you to not do, you will be blocked. Dicklyon (talk) 23:43, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi. I have blocked you in order to get your attention to the multiple outstanding notices above. Please acknowledge. El_C 23:53, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
Still, please acknowledge by editing here. You're not making progress as long as I'm reverting all your edits. Dicklyon (talk) 00:10, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
The issue that caused the discussion about you on WP:AN/I seems to be that you are using a hyphen in date ranges (1999-2000), rather than a longer en dash (1999–2000), which is the preferred dash for dates on Wikipedia. I don't know what kind of computer you're on, so if it isn't obvious to you how to produce en dashes, perhaps you could google it for your system. That would help. Many thanks, SarahSV (talk) 00:13, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
I see here you're using dashes now. Good on you! Dicklyon (talk) 01:16, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
Nope, that was a fluke. Bad to the bad old ways. Dicklyon (talk) 17:15, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
([0-9]{4})-([0-9]{4})
to \1–\2
. (This may not work in all versions of regex.) I do a rapid one-by-one find-and-replace with this regex, and there are rarely exceptions. Biogeographist (talk) 19:53, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

Happy editing! racecar d (talk) 18:55, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
I appreciate your hard work adding birth and death dates to lists of people, but your edits are unsourced. When you copy stuff from one Wikipedia article and add it to another Wikipedia article, you are assuming the article you are copying is correct, and so often it isn't. That is why using Wikipedia as a source is not permitted. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:19, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
They are continuing to change dates and/or add dates to articles, as in List of Latin American artists, List of English women artists, List of Native American artists, Women Artists of Bangladesh. This is going to be a nightmare to check all those dates and unravel any errors unless it stops. Netherzone (talk) 15:03, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
Hello, I'm Adakiko. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, Marie Farge, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Adakiko (talk) 04:45, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
