- Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALLCAT. The event was only held one time, so there is just one champion and there is no realistic potential for growth. Armbrust The Homunculus 20:31, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

- "since the category name must match the main article", that is an incorrect premise. We have hundreds of singers who have an article and a songs category, but not an eponymous category. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:22, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

- The result of the discussion was: merge. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:02, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: Not defining. Not sure if "of Hong Kong descent" is meaningful.Rathfelder (talk) 10:07, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge as a trivial intersection. Descent and occupation are entirely unrelated. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:25, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep -- Both were born in Hong Kong when it was a British colony. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peterkingiron (talk • contribs) 16:44, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- But that is not relevant to their careers as politicians. And I dont think anyone is really "of Hong Kong descent". Rathfelder (talk) 19:37, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete another meaningless "descent" category divorced from real-world meaning nor objective inclusion criteria. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 22:15, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge or delete per WP:OCEGRS. Hong Kong or Japanese have not created a different subculture or practice of British politics. Note that the 2 characters in the HK category are actually from Hong Kong, they would therefore not even qualify as being "of Hong Kong descent", except if we consider that everybody from Foo is of Foo descent, which would kill the purpose of descent categories. Category:Sri Lankan Tamil archaeologists
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Sri Lankan archaeologists alone. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:01, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: Only 1 Rathfelder (talk) 10:04, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge, also per WP:OCEGRS, non-notable intersection with ethnicity. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:24, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per WP:OCEGRS; also the Category:Tamil archaeologists runs afoul of the WP:OCEGRS policy but isn't flagged for discussion but ought to be deleted as well. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 22:14, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- @Carlossuarez46: mere deletion would remove the article from Category:Sri Lankan archaeologists, and I see no reason to do that. Place Clichy (talk) 11:24, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge to Category:Sri Lankan archaeologists only per WP:OCEGRS. The only article, K. Indrapala, is nowhere defined by reliable sources as being of Tamil ethnicity (as required by WP:EGRS). Are we supposed to guess it from his last name, or the fact that he studies Tamil inscriptions? Place Clichy (talk) 17:00, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge as suggested by Place Clichy. Until there are a lot more members, I see no need to split by ethnicity. Ethnicity might be relevant if it affected the POV with which he approaches his subject; and clearly Tamil are his special topic. Peterkingiron (talk) 15:42, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- I've also nominated Category:Tamil archaeologists for deletion. There are some others in Category:Archaeologists by ethnicity which are at least better populated, but I find it hard to see ethnicity impacts on archaeology. Rathfelder (talk) 19:06, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

- Propose Deleting/Listifying Category:Recipients of the Order of Solomon
- Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:PERFCAT, WP:OCAWARD and WP:OVERLAPCAT)
- When foreign leaders visited imperial Ethiopia, or vice versa, the Order of Solomon was given out as souvenir to commemorate the visit. Dwight D. Eisenhower, Emperor Hirohito and George V are not remotely defined by this award. (The only Ethiopians in this category are members of the royal family who are already well categorized under Category:Ethiopian Royal Family.) The contents are already listified here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:00, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

- Propose Deleting/Listifying Category:Recipients of the Silver World Award
- Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCAWARD (WP:NONDEFINING) and WP:SMALLCAT
- The Silver World Award is an international award from the Boy Scouts of America for non-U.S. Scouting leaders. The articles in this category fall into three non-defining groups: global Scouting leaders with a passing reference to the award (e.g. Göran Hägerdal, Charles Green, John Phillpot), global Scouting leaders with no mention of the award (e.g. Salvador Beltrán, Bruce Garnsey, László Nagy) and global leaders with no obvious connection to Scouting (e.g. Pope Paul VI, Golda Meir, Emperor Hirohito). The winners are already listified here in the main article for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:00, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
