Wikipedia:Family trees lists a lot of options, including Template:Chart for vertical presentation. For horizontal, there are several ahnentafel options, categorised inside Category:Ahnentafel formatting templates. Throughout biographical articles, clearly, the compact option seems to be the prevalent ones, more specifically Template:Ahnentafel-compact5. I do recognise that different options regarding number of generations are legitimate. However, I suppose a little bit of standardisation other than that could serve the readers more convienently.
