Rob Taylor (born 23 April 1959)[1] is a British engineer who is the technical director of the American Formula One team Haas F1 Team.
In 1987, he started working for the engine manufacturer Cosworth as a member of the Ford F1 HB V8 engine development team.[2]
In 1989, he joined Benetton, served as the suspension design engineer.
In 1992 he moved on and this time to Scuderia Ferrari as a designer for suspension and gearbox.
In 1997, he changed stables to Arrows and continued to work with similar duties, later becoming chief designer of the Arrows A22.[3]
In 2002 he joined Jaguar Racing as chief designer, leading design for both the Jaguar R4 and Jaguar R5[4]. Taylor remained at the team after Austrian energy drink manufacturer Red Bull bought the team in late 2004.[5] Taylor was the chief designer of Red Bull and sister team Toro Rosso's first F1 cars[1] the Red Bull RB1 and Toro Rosso STR1 respectively.
In 2006 he chose to leave Red Bull and became senior design team leader at McLaren,[6] a position he held until 2010. After that he was deputy chief designer at Virgin Racing/Marussia/Manor
