Farahabad (Persian: فرحآباد) is a city in, and the capital of, Rudpey-ye Shomali District, Sari County, Mazandaran province, Iran.[3]
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 2,027 in 570 households, when it was a village in the former Rudpey-ye Shomali Rural District of the Central District.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 2,027 people in 661 households, by which time the rural district had been separated from the district in the establishment of Rudpey District.[5] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 2,217 people in 762 households, when the rural district had been renamed Farahabad-e Shomali Rural District and become a part of the newly established Rudpey-ye Shomali District. It was the largest villages in its rural district.[2] After the census, the village of Farahabad was elevated to the status of a city.[6]
