Taluka Haveli is a subdivision of the district of Pune, Maharashtra.[1] The Pune Municipal Corporation & Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Pune are at the center of & entirely surrounded by the taluka for administrative purposes.[2] The region of Pune Metropolitan Region has claimed the major part of the same.
The Taluka had a population of 2,435,581 in the year 2011. Out of this, 1,823,950 people lived in Urban areas and 611,631 lived in Rural areas. This indicates that the majority of the people in Taluka Haveli, approximately 74.88% of the population, reside in urban areas.[3]
The sex ratio of Taluka Haveli is 850 females per thousand males.[3]
The most spoken language in the Taluka is Marathi, which is also the sole official language of the region.[4]
At the time of the 2011 Census of India, 73.59% of the population of the Taluka spoke Marathi, 12.89% Hindi, 2.23% Kannada, 1.94% Telugu, 1.09% Urdu, 1.08% Marwari, 0.98% Malayalam as their mother tongue.[4]
An overwhelming majority of the Taluka follows Hinduism. Other religions followed by the population includes Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism, among others. Taluka Haveli is religiously diverse.
85.89% of the population follows Hinduism, 6.26% follow Islam, 4.49% follow Buddhism, 1.76% follow Christianity, 0.93% follow Jainism, 0.32% follow Sikhism and 0.32% follow Others or did not state religion.[3]
