The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.
As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.
Is this portal still maintained? Nice that the selected articles transclude the current section 0 from actual articles, so they don't remain too outdated. I'm glad to see that several of the quotations have sources, but many don't have any source and are not in Wikiquote either. I suggest to remove the unsourced quotations. I commented-out the News section of the portal (diff). The most recent news is from 2015, and articles listed below that are even older. I also moved the WikiProjects box downward, because the projects are not as popular as they once were, and portals typically list project information lower down, rather than at the top.
