Is it me or is the news section goofy looking? February looks all sorts of weird, whereas January is just fine... I'm not entirely sure on the fix for it, but I'll try to look into it. Im using Firefox, so I don't entirely think that it is me...Pvt Mahoney 13:43, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think I fixed it, but I had to move the note about the wikinews being related to peru to the bottom of the list. Hope this doesn't bug anyone, but it's the only way to make that box LOOK right. Pvt Mahoney 13:43, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Selected Article, Picture, Biography For April and May[edit]
I've just created a new image and changed the color layout of the portal.--Andersmusician$ 05:22, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good. I'll try and help out by updating the news section. We should also choose a new selected article/image/bio since the ones we have on now have been there for months.--Jersey Devil 05:23, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I propose Norte Chico civilization as selected article as it is the only Peru-related article that has reached FA category. As for a new bio it could be one of the two in which the Wikiproject:Peru participants have collaborated: Andrés Avelino Cáceres or Andrés de Santa Cruz. What do you think? --Victor12 12:08, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think the norte chico civ is ok; now about bios, might be good to place them in alphabetical order, just 4 being more organized, since we don't have a log or something. --Andersmusician$ 20:43, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. Maybe we should make a list of articles, bios and pics for the portal, so that they could be changed once a week as in Portal:New Zealand. Incidentally this is a featured portal, I think the current Peru portal looks better. Once it is bringed up to date we can propose its promotion at Wikipedia:Featured portal candidates. --Victor12 01:53, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
agree but deftinively we need a Article/image/news/didya/bio log. --Andersmusician$ 04:35, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Peruvian Flag and Peruvian Patriotic symbols[edit]
As I put a new flag in the portal, I also left the particular code in the source by commenting it out, so if you do not agree with how it looks you can change it for whatever reason that you might have. However I am taking the opportunity for presenting to you the following case (below), and if you have any idea or thought about it, please share it with me.
What I am suggesting is that we might need to identify the licenses of all related symbols about Peru, and making sure that images that are orphans be deleted or properly released under very well-clarified terms and conditions.
I think that there are various reasons why we want to do this, without even thinking in those types of vandalisms that quite often occurred, but any of those reasons are necessarily valid and I don't think it is a need for stating them in here.
Well, it is quite satisfying to see how good it looks the portal now, but as you know there are so many other entries about our country that need to be created or fixed and Wikified. Even more as it is indicated in our Wikiproject.
Please look for the page "List of Latin Americans" for instance, even César Vallejo, I believe, is not mentioned in it.
FYI-I started few weeks ago in this language version of Wikipedia, What a hostile environment comparing it with others. I found out.
I plan to do more of what little I have done, although too little it is within my range of time a personal triumph for me. I will continue, "Lento pero sin pausa".
My greetings and best wishes for all of you, hope to hear from you soon,
I keep forgetting it!, What a mule I am! - I know that our pages are frequently visited by Wikipedians of different nationalities, therefore please to those who are not Peruvians and for some special reason are interested, or very interested in Peru, do not hesitate, and contact me as well.
Of course, my first priority in this messages as well as in my heart, goes to all of you who are Peruvians or descendant of Peruvians, just have patience with me and with my replies, they all will get to you soon, if you write, that is.
Therefore, heeeereere it comes! The case of the Coat of Arms right below:
Coat of Arms of Perú
So here is the text about this particular image from our Coat of Arms, so please lets find the right information for this file, I think we might need to delete it and again we could upload it with the right information, in terms of: Where and who can use it and for what ends, in addition of the normal license information issues.
Hi GerardM, do you remember this Image?
coat of arms
It seems that you have uploaded a "jpg" [format] file under the filename: ►coa_Peru.jpg◄ back in 2004. The file seems to have problems in terms of the licensing in which it has been released.
As a Peruvian I am concerned, because for whatever reason you might have in both, be part of this community, Wikipedia, and in working or uploading a national emblem, in this case, from my country, you seem as you didn't have enough time for inputting crucial information, in a way that was clearly enunciated over this file's sharing status and its author's intellectual property rights and permissions.
Having stating this, I am congratulating you in taking your time to upload the Coat of Arms from Perú, for what I am thanking you dearly, but on the other hand, I can't use it, and no one for that matter can use it, evenly so, in the official pages of projects about my country, therefore, what is the purpose of this file?
Now, I asking you to clarify the terms and conditions in which you uploaded this particular file or other files that you may have uploaded into Wikipedia and unwillingly forgot to determined the information aforementioned. It is just fair to ask you to do just that. If you were the author, then, by all means, please, state clearly the types of licenses too, by updating this file(s)'s profile or by adding the rationale of the fair use related to it(then), so everybody would have less struggles in using images of the sorts and finding questionable bots' reversions on their pages and contributions on this environment. Having writing this in here, feels estrange but, this is Wikipedia, perhaps, you might decide to use one or some of the four freedoms embedded in the "Commons" as well to release your files in the future, it is only an idea.
However, I am thanking you again, with all my respect and with some anticipation (hoping that this is a short one) for kindly take proper and effective actions over your already uploaded and future contributions. I sense that in the process of uploading "so much information" into Wikipedia's servers you, may perhaps, skipped, this crucial information. Anyway let me know what you do know or understand about these issues, they are sensible in nature, for each of us, in Wikipedia and in relation to our Coat of Arms, is the proper concern, as you might empathize with us, of every Peruvian. JohnManuel-"-Todos Llegan de Noche, todos se van de día" 20:21, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
◙ PD Do not forget to add a fair use clarification, if it were for whatever reason applicable. ◙
Hoi, as indicated I had it from the Spanish Wikipedia. Given the amount of time that has gone since, you will understand that I cannot recall any more details. GerardM 05:12, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are already properly sourced pics of the Peruvian Coat of Arms and its variants, check Coat of arms of Peru. They also look better than the one you presented above, don't you think? --Victor12 21:17, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I will check those pictures. However, the fact remains quitely the same a Coat of Arms image exists, such as it has not being properly licensed and lately has created problems for some users. Therefore, I am [documenting] proposing a vote for its complete deletion, since, as you wrote, there are more and better despictions of our Coat of Arms. What do you think? By the way, How are you? and thanks for the interaction. Hope we are more than (3)three in here, so we could have a kind of a quorum. "History is important, it forms a great part of our identity, and we are making it right now" ◙JMK◙NYC◄ I'am all yours -"-Todos Llegan de Noche, todos se van de día" 21:58, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And how do you explain this: coat of arms, let me do it one more time, just in case wait ... coat of arms
I still proposing the vote, "History is important, it forms a great part of our identity, and we are making it right now" ◙JMK◙NYC◄ -"-Todos Llegan de Noche, todos se van de día" 22:33, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, I mean no article in Wikipedia is currently using that particular pic. Of course it is being used here, in your talk page and in the upload log archive. --Victor12 23:33, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Does anybody knows why César Vallejo died en París and not in Peru? Hope you can help me, in this one. For those who are not Peruvians, also you can help me to figure this out. I proposing to add in our portal something about our poets in every edition. What do you think? Thank you for your support. -John Manuel"-Todos Llegan de Noche, todos se van de día" 00:47, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's tooo long for a Portal, I suggest it to be reduced. --AndersmusicianVOTE 05:33, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we can delete the third paragraph. How long should it be? --Victor12 12:08, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
After checking Wikipedia:Featured portals, I've found that almost all are half the size of Peru intro, so I propose to reduce it to the height of the pictures. --AndersmusicianVOTE 04:54, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like a good idea. You can cut paragraphs three and four. --Victor12 11:48, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
done, I'm now removing paragraphs from "Selected article" box --AndersmusicianVOTE 00:19, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Great. Now, what about keeping the portal updated? We can use a bot to change the selected article/bio/pic/quote randomly or make a list of monthly (or weekly) changes. --Victor12 00:25, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know that only a template (((Random portal component))) is needed for random subpages update. However, on your second proposal I was thinking instead of "trying" to adjust these to the related current "coyuntura" (I can't translate that), this might make the portal more "alive" I guess (and making distance with others).--AndersmusicianVOTE 03:10, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but first we would need a list of all the articles which are worth including in the portal. Currently we have only 2 FA and 4 GA, we need to make a selection of B class articles (currently 79) which are suitable for this purpose. How many do you think we'll need? --Victor12 03:34, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah good idea, but should we also consider importance for selecting B ones? maybe not, should we? (this link might help WP 1.0 bot log) --AndersmusicianVOTE 16:01, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking about that too. Maybe only articles of mid importance and above? Not sure about it. We need more opinions. --Victor12 16:10, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm starting to think that importance is not that relevant, as long as the article is well-written and complying with B standards. Then, I propose to add "B" articles now by topic on the proposed list.--AndersmusicianVOTE 23:27, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Now, how many well-written articles do we have? --Victor12 00:39, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that would be hard to determine, at least for me, since I don't have plenty of free time for wikipedia. It might be better to look to specific articles related to current events. --AndersmusicianVOTE 23:47, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As we don't have many good articles maybe it would be better to merge "Selected article" and "Selected biography" to just "Selected article". I think we can get about 12 good articles for this section. Limiting ourselves to articles related to current events would leave us with really few and contentous articles, for instance Alberto Fujimori. Out of my head I think candidate articles for inclusion in the Portal are Andrés de Santa Cruz, Andrés Avelino Cáceres, Navy of Peru plus our few FAs (Norte Chico civilization and Guinea Pig) and GAs (Machu Picchu, Ollanta Humala) all of which seem to be in good shape. --Victor12 18:41, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
yeah that's fine, don't hesitate in asking me how to place them.--AndersmusicianVOTE 03:20, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I created the Tourism in Peru article and I think that it should be placed on the Peru topics template. I couldn't figure out how to add it myself. Vivaperucarajo (talk) 07:58, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I created the Iperu, tourist information and assistance article in Spanish, English and French. This is the free and official service of the Peruvian Government that provides info about Peru: destinations, regular companies, suggestions, fares, and all info that people need to plan a trip to Peru. I think is important to improve this article (in all languages versions) and promote it in the Peruvian Tourism related articles (again, in all languages versions if possible). If you may, help translating this article to German, Japanise, Chinese and other languages. It will be good for Peru image as a World tourist destination. Remember that the Amazon River and the Peruvian Amazon are leading the New seven nature wonders and Machu Picchu is one of the Seven World's Marvels. --EdwinJs (talk) 16:23, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For the Recognized content section:
These are featured and good articles related to Peru which appear on Portal:Peru. Peru related articles promoted to these categories should be added to this list and those demoted should be removed. Each entry includes at least the first two paragraphs of the lead section modified so that the name of each article is wikilinked. Remember that per Wikipedia:Featured portal criteria article summaries should not significantly exceed 200 words in length.
These are war or battle articles related to Peru, preferably featured or good articles but certainly no Stub articles which appear on Portal:Peru thus, war or battle articles related to Peru promoted to these categories should be added to this list. Each entry includes the first two paragraphs of the lead section modified so that the name of each article is wikilinked. Remember that per Wikipedia:Featured portal criteria article summaries should not significantly exceed 200 words in length.
The following updates were performed to the Peru portal in March 2020. North America1000 13:36, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Updated portal using Template:Transclude random excerpt, which provides readers with current, up-to-date information that is verbatim to that in articles. Used suitable article selections moved to the main portal page from Portal:Peru/Selected article.
Per a lack of a great number of recognized content articles (FA- and GA-class) available at this time for Peru-related topics, more B-class were added to a new Selected article section, to round-out the portal to provide a more comprehensive topical overview. The following B-class articles were added:
