Why no history graph?

[edit]

Most other clubs with Wikipedia pages have a history chart showing their position at the end of each season. There is a sort of version under the LFC/Man U rivalry page. Wondered why there wasn't one for Liverpool and if I was to create one would it be possible to get it included? Midnorton (talk) 15:17, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Such a graph exists on the Swedish version of the page and is up to date:
https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liverpool_FC#Statistik
Here is the user who made many of these. They say that it keeps being removed from the American page:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:EclecticArkie#Football_League_performance_charts_missing 2A00:1F:8704:2301:5D75:BD6D:16C6:80E1 (talk) 16:51, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There's no real need to include it in the article. Just because other versions of Wikipedia do something doesn't mean we should. NapHit (talk) 21:47, 20 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Every club participating in the top two tiers of the EFL in the 2024/25 season outside of Liverpool features this historical breakdown in the English version of the article. The few clubs in L1 and 2 that miss a variation also have one in the making by EclecticArkie. Liverpool will soon become the only EFL club without such a chart used despite one existing. Liverpool´s article is of lower quality and harder to digest without it as key information from the 3 part historical section is broken down, summarized and visualized through this graph. Residentgrigo (talk) 07:20, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with @Residentgrigo it should be included Knowledgework69 (talk) 13:04, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

All red kit

[edit]

Following on from recent edit by User:Offa29 changing the date of the adoption of the all red kit to 1965 I did a small amount of checking and came across article by David Prentice which disputes the apparent timeline we currently have (and agrees with Offa). You can see the article here. This source has then been used on Historical Kits. This obviously disputes the recollections of Shankly, Yeats and St John who are all attributed at various times in different articles about the first time it is worn, and when it is finally adopted. Update backroom staff structure

[edit]

The athletic created an updated structure of Liverpool FC's backroom staff under FSG and Michael Edwards, the listing should show this...

We can use the Athletic's journalism as a source, but we probably can't just wholesale copy the diagram. Alyo (chat·edits) 14:48, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Don't need to copy the diagram. I just meant that the details on Club Officials needs updating as the Liverpool FC wiki page currently has information thats 3 years out of date.
The diagram the athletic has produced is the most up to date information of the club structure but don't need to use the diagram. 2A01:4B00:E222:3800:F4B9:E32E:F849:3BE0 (talk) 15:01, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

finally John Barnes is missing from club ambassadors
https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/john-barnes-appointed-official-ambassador-liverpool-fc Joseppppi (talk) 08:28, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To be quite honest, if it were up to me I would cut a lot of material from each of those pages. I don't think individuals should be included unless their appointment/job performance has been covered by independent, reliable sources (i.e., not Liverpool announcing it on their own site). Alyo (chat·edits) 19:30, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you mean there? Surely companies house and Liverpools employees list is the most accurate source as its the most direct? If the Athletic report something its from the club? And nobody is truely independent but the most reliable with employees and directors will be the originial source... in this case the club?
I understand if it was to do with opinion piece, then the clubs website is biased and not accurate but when it comes to this its as accurate as you can get and isnt an opinion piece but factual information. Joseppppi (talk) 20:54, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Liverpool's website is a first-party source. They are (obviously) not independent when it comes to news about themselves, their staff, their activities, etc. They are reliable, but not independent. As a general rule, the standard for inclusion on Wikipedia is covered by sources that are both reliable and independent. To take an extreme example, if the Liverpool website listed the names of all ballboys used in 23-24, would that be worth including on Wikipedia, just because it was posted by the club? The Athletic coverage does qualify as reliable and independent, which is why I've added people whose appointment was covered by the Athletic. Alyo (chat·edits) 16:09, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Liverpool have changed their crest the new crest is on the Liverpool website and app and also the Premier league website and app. 78.19.84.174 (talk) 09:59, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: The version on the club website looks the same to me, can you provide a more direct link? Bsoyka (tcg) 13:41, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bsoyka It should be there on the club's website as of today. Ufzifxigxig (talk) 17:31, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ufzifxigxig: the new version is only on the kit and digital platforms. The old one will remain as the club’s official symbol i.e. at the stadium and the training ground. [1]. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 17:51, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The club would like to be identified digitally with their new badge, having only been used in the kit and some physical material up to this point. This is why it even got changed from the old one on Google and on social media. They will only continue to use the old badge in physical locations. Please have a read of the following: https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/liverpool-fc-use-liver-bird-across-digital-platforms Ufzifxigxig (talk) 20:51, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As it says, that is for the club's own communications/"official relationships", that has nothing to do with Wikipedia. Alyo (chat·edits) 20:59, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Liverpool football club has a new club badge now it needs to be updated on Wikipedia it's all updated on other websites such as Premier league website, livescore, sky sports and social media 78.19.86.154 (talk) 13:07, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See above, they didn't change the official crest. Alyo (chat·edits) 13:20, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They did change the official crest look at the websites even the fixtures the crest has been changed it now different with just the red liverbird now 78.19.86.154 (talk) 01:18, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They didn't change the official crest. Please read the link in the above thread, it clearly states: 'LFC’s crest will remain as the club’s official emblem and an integral part of the club’s brand identity, and will continue to be used in non-digital areas – including at Anfield, the AXA Training Centre, AXA Melwood Training Centre and club offices.' That's referring to the crest we have right now. NapHit (talk) 08:09, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The crest has been changed my friend it's literally on the premier league and Liverpool and sky sports and even livescore website apps and even social media the crest needs to be updated 78.19.86.154 (talk) 01:17, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The crest hasn't been changed, the one at the top of the page still remains the club's official crest. NapHit (talk) 08:10, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As stated above and in prior threads, the club’s logo remains the same. The new one is only for the club’s digital platforms and kits. The original is still the official logo of Liverpool F.C. REDMAN 2019 (talk) 11:54, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New signing

[edit]

Liverpool just signed Chiesa so can you put him on the “players” section? 2001:8F8:1735:3949:1587:110C:4C09:4B66 (talk) 17:45, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Giorgi Mamardashvili

[edit]

Mamardashvili will join Liverpool next season on a permanent transfer. Currently, he is a Valencia player and will remain so throughout this season. No loan has happened. The deal will take effect at the end of the season, not now. @REDMAN 2019. Frost 18:18, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Frost Agreed. No loan mentioned in Official LFC statement or Sky Sports. Dhruv edits (talk) 19:10, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
