This is a note to let the main editors of 1740 Batavia massacre know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on September 4, 2012. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/September 4, 2012. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:
The 1740 Batavia massacre was a pogrom against ethnic Chinese in the port city of Batavia in the Dutch East Indies. The violence inside the city lasted from 9 to 22 October 1740. Unrest in the Chinese population had been triggered by government repression and reduced income from falling sugar prices prior to the massacre. In response, at a meeting of the Council of the Indies, Governor-General Adriaan Valckenier declared that any uprising was to be met with deadly force. His resolution took effect on 7 October after hundreds of ethnic Chinese, many of them sugar mill workers, killed 50 Dutch soldiers. The Dutch dispatched troops who confiscated all weapons from the Chinese populace and placed the Chinese under a curfew. Two days later, after being frightened by rumours of Chinese atrocities, other Batavian ethnic groups began burning Chinese houses along Besar Stream and Dutch soldiers launched an assault using cannons on Chinese homes. The violence soon spread throughout Batavia, killing more Chinese. Although Valckenier declared an amnesty on 11 October, gangs of irregulars continued to hunt and kill Chinese until 22 October, when Valckenier called more forcefully for a cessation of hostilities. Historians have estimated that at least 10,000 ethnic Chinese were massacred. (more...)

Hey man; since you're looking at the article is there a chance you could remove the "Iron Horse" thing? I've already done so three times tonight and it's clearly a non-notable entry (you have no idea how many un-notable covers of "In Heaven" I had to clear out of that thing). If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:
Chrisye (1949–2007) was a Chinese-Indonesian singer and songwriter. Born in Jakarta, he became interested in music as a teenager. After joining a band in the 1960s and playing in New York, in 1976 he and the band worked on a collaboration with Guruh Sukarnoputra. The success of this album led to Chrisye being approached for two projects: the song "Lilin-Lilin Kecil" ("Small Candles") and the album Badai Pasti Berlalu (The Storm Will Surely Pass). Both projects were highly successful, and as a result Chrisye was signed to Musica Studios. With them, he released nineteen studio albums before his death of lung cancer. Chrisye was known as a stiff stage performer but widely-praised for his vocal abilities. Rolling Stone Indonesia listed five of his albums and four of his songs as among the best in Indonesian music history; the magazine selected Chrisye as the third-best Indonesian musical artist of all time. His albums were mostly successful, and almost all were certified silver or higher. (more...)

I would like to ask you to consider reinstating the Brit Floyd: The Pink Floyd Tribute Show. I am not in any way associated with the band. I noticed that they were going to be in concert at a local amphitheater and went to Wikipedia, as I often do, to find out more about the band, it's history and what critics think about this band. After seeing that the page no longer exists, I searching google, is appears as there is sufficient activity to support it's presence on Wikipedia. Crisco, you reviewed this over a week ago, and noted bare refs and questioned some of the sources. It looks like JohnnyMrNinja fixed the one strictly bare ref and did nothing else. Since this is an odd one anyway—Johnny started the expansion on July 22 (DYKcheck says it's still 5x going back only to July 23, and the first big chunk was added less than an hour and a half before midnight), and created the nomination template on July 29. He seems to have forgotten to add it to T:TDYK until September 10. Anyway, I think it's for you to decide on the next step. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:33, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Hi Crisco 1492. I'm leaving you this message because you have previously been involved as an adopter with Wikipedia's Adopt-a-user program. A clean-up of this program is currently underway, and as part of the process I am trying to find out who is and isn't still interested in remaining an adopter.
If you would prefer not to be part of the adoption program anymore, you need do nothing; when the overhaul of the project is completed your name will be removed from the list of active adopters. However, if you have current adoptees, an active adoption school or an interest in adopting in the near future, then please let us know by signing here.
If you want to remain in the project and can currently take on more adoptees, there is a serious backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user; it would be enormously helpful if you could take on one or two of the users there. Please do keep an eye on the project for upcoming changes, we could use your opinions and your help! Yunshui 雲水 08:59, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
G'day Crisco 1492, I'm not sure if you are already a member or not, but if you aren't I'd like to encourage you to become an official member of the Military history project. I've had a look at a number of the articles you are working on around the topic of Indonesian military history and they are very impressive. If you wish to join, you can do so by adding your name here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Members. One of the benefits of signing up is that you will receive the project's monthly newsletter – The Bugle – and you can also vote in the project's current co-ordinator election. Of course, there is no requirement for you to sign up, and if you chose not to, your articles will still be well received. Thanks for your contribution to the encyclopedia. Per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/DNA_Tribes, the Wikipedia article for the DNA Tribes was deleted. However, the Wikipedia entries for several other prominent DNA ancestry testing firms (such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Tree_DNA and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeneTree) were not similarly deleted. In addition to commercial testing, DNA Tribes is distinguished from competitors by publishing extensive analysis of world genetic structure (http://dnatribes.com/library.html). You're a lot more savvy with images than I am; does this seem alright to be used here? After recent software changes there is one tool I frequently use in edit mode which I can not use now together with enhanced editing toolbar that I like to have. I don't know exact name of this tool, but it was right below edit box and contained a lot of Wiki markup commands (like (()) (({))} | [] [[]] [[Category:]] #REDIRECT [[]] <s></s> <code></code> <pre></pre> <blockquote></blockquote> <ref name=""/> ((#tag:ref||group="nb"|name="")) ((Reflist)) <references/> <includeonly></includeonly> <noinclude></noinclude> ((DEFAULTSORT:)) <nowiki> </nowiki>).

Hi Crisco! When you find the time, can you please leave comments at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Going, Going, Gone (Grey's Anatomy)/archive1? It's another fairly short one. Thanks, TRLIJC19 (talk • contribs) 00:28, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
I just noticed that Chrisye got promoted to Featured article and wanted to congratulate you. Not only did you do great work on your own, you managed to secure the valuable participation of Malleus and a few others. Well done! -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 02:26, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I was just gnoming and noticed the Supriyadi article is in need of a little of your attention. The article seems to be a fair amount of editorialising, and could do with a thorough copyedit back to the source; there are no online sources cited. Cheers, -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 16:10, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
