Your draft article, Draft:Kevin Ward (mayor)
Hello, Justiyaya. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Kevin Ward".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the ((db-afc)), ((db-draft)), or ((db-g13)) code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Hey man im josh (talk) 12:15, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

Issue 54, November – December 2022
after my articles first review, it got declined and while during my edits, I deleted the first line about the first review and the reason for the declination. now i cant resubmit my article. please help me a way out --Ijasm (talk) 16:18, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi Ijasm, let me try to fix this, give me a second. Justiyaya 16:24, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
@Ijasm I've tagged the page for deletion so that the page you moved to Talk:Anil V Nagendran can be moved back, usually Wikipedia prefers edit history to be left alone and not deleted. I'm not sure about the exact way to handle this but something to that effect should work. Anyways come back in a few hours and the submit button should be there again hopefully. Many sources in the article are still questionable in regards to significant coverage from a glance, perhaps a bit more high quality sources before re-submission would be beneficial. Additionally, please review the conflict of interest guidelines if you haven't already. Justiyaya 16:34, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi--I just wrote a small article with citations, and thought I'd entered it for review--but can't tell if it was submitted. Was it? Thanks--Paris --Gayparee (talk) 18:50, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Gayparee, I have moved the draft to Draft:Charlotte Booker and added a submit button on top of the page. When you are ready, press the button to submit it. At the moment, it is unlikely that the article will be accepted by reviewers, mostly because of issues regarding notability. Please ensure that the article has multiple reliable sources providing significant coverage to the subject before submitting. Thanks for your contribution to Wikipedia, and happy editing! Justiyaya 03:10, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
Thank you in advance Justiyaya! Metro2fsb (talk) 06:26, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
Metro2fsb has given you a cookie! Cookies promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. You can spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a cookie, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.
To spread the goodness of cookies, you can add ((subst:Cookie)) to someone's talk page with a friendly message, or eat this cookie on the giver's talk page with ((subst:munch))!
because a person can never have too many cookies. 05:17, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi Metro2fsb, please submit the draft for regular review (with the submit button), posting this a lot of reviewer's talk pages is unlikely to expedite the process, and you generally should not do that. Justiyaya 05:28, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
You seem like a nice person, submitting it for regular review is a pot shot, i could get someone that loves to delete other people's work. Metro2fsb (talk) 05:50, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
Hello,
I have a question regarding edits by another contributor to Wikipedia. They have removed lot of stuff from an article claiming it as WP:OR but when I cross check the citations I can see that the ratios might not be accurate to decimal but are okay if we go by whole numbers. This is the edit :- " https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fatty_acid_ratio_in_food&oldid=1123372751 "
I want to undo this and correct the ratios instead of removing mass content by calling it original research. Should I contact the editor before doing so or just go ahead with undo as i cannot manually edit ever. Another user banned for being a sockpuppet has also removed very relevant info from the wiki page which cannot be undo by me.
Thanks,
~F~ --FofS&E (talk) 13:04, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi @FofS&E, I would contact the editor (Crashed greek) before reverting. If I'm not misinterpreting however, the issue they brought up is not that the ratios are not accurate, it's that the ratios require original research to (as OR suggests) "reach or imply a conclusion not stated by the sources", not that (as you said above) "the ratios might not be accurate to decimal". Justiyaya 13:36, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for fast reply. The source lists macronutrients of different food items such as Omega-3 & Omega-6 fats. Whoever added the ratios might have calculated the ratio themselves as the source only provides numbers, not ratios.
My point is if the source is reliable, then is it necessary for the ratios to be mentioned specifically? The correct ratios can't be added from data available on the reliable source??
Thanks! FofS&E (talk) 13:50, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
@FofS&E Well that is what I believe Crashed Greek was arguing, I might be wrong with my interpretation of their argument and I am unsure about this, which is why I encouraged you discuss with the other user. Justiyaya 14:12, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
Okay, I will do that.
Thanks again! :) FofS&E (talk) 15:25, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
Growth team newsletter #24
Welcome to the twenty-fourth newsletter from the Growth team!
Newcomer experience projects
The Growth team partnered with other WMF teams to conduct several experiments around increasing account creation and new editor retention.
Results from four of these experiments are now available:
Thank you pages & banners - Encourage donors to create accounts through thank you pages and banners.
Marketing experiment - Run ads on-wiki and off-wiki to see how this impacts account activation.
Welcome emails - Experiment sending welcome emails to newly created accounts.
Newcomer tasks
Several communities suggested improving "add a link", by suggesting underlinked articles first. We released this change to Growth pilot wikis. We will review the data and collect feedback before considering releasing it to more wikis. [1]
The deployment of the "add a link" to all Wikipedias is still in progress. Suggested links use a prediction model, which has to be trained. The deployments will resume after we finish training all models. [2]
Mentorship
When someone wants to signup as a mentor, they are now informed if they don't meet the defined criteria. [3]
Workshop hosts asked us to have workshop attendees assigned to them. They can soon use a custom URL parameter. This way, workshop hosts will continue mentoring the event's attendees after the workshop. It will be available in February. [4]
Have you considered to help new editors on your wiki, by signing up to be a Mentor?
Please visit Special:MentorDashboard to check on the conditions to be a mentor, and sign up.
If your wiki does not have Mentorship enabled, consider setting it up. The Growth team can provide advice and assist as needed. Please ping Trizek (WMF) for assistance.
This newsletter will have a new publication period, 6 times a year: January, March, May, July, September, November.
Translations
Newsletter translation: We are looking for translators for this newsletter. If you are interested and have the needed English language proficiency to assist, then please add your name to this list. You will receive an invite on your talk page to translate the newsletter when it is ready.
Voting in the 2023 Community Wishlist Survey will begin on 10 February 2023 and end on 24 February 2023. You can submit, discuss and revise proposals until 6 February 2023.
Tech tip: Syntax highlighting is available in both the 2011 and 2017 Wikitext editors. It can help make editing paragraphs with many references or complicated templates easier.

Hello, How do I get my page out of "Draft" mode and published? --Researchexec (talk) 21:43, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Researchexec, I'm assuming that the draft you are talking about is Draft:Jay Lhotak. I've added a submit banner on the top of the page, and you can click "submit" when you are ready. However I would strongly advise against submitting the draft in its current state, as the draft lacks enough sources to suggest notability along with tonal issues. I need help updating my footnotes. It's a quick fix if I just knew how to do it. My footnote #3 needs to be changed to: "1986 Congressional Record, Vol, 132, Page S 4478". and needs to be used only for the sentence " On April 17, 1986 Easterling was recognized on the U.S. Senate floor in a tribute by Alabama Senator Jeremiah Denton." All my footnotes #1 should be referenced to what is listed but getting an error message due to something I did. Please help! Thanks --Mamadu22 (talk) 01:21, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Question from Mamadu22 (02:16, 23 March 2023)
For the Marion W. Hi Mamadu22, welcome to Wikipedia! Apologies for the late reply, had a chaotic day. I think Special:Diff/1146233894 would fix it if I've interpreted your message correctly. I don't think changing citation order while keeping the same citation number is possible with this citation style if that is what you are asking for. Discussion on disallowing use of the ʻokina in Chinese romanized article titles
In this test, we use post-edit dialogs (pop-ups shown after publishing an edit) and notifications to encourage new editors to try new types of newcomer-friendly suggested edits.
Community Ambassadors completed an initial evaluation that confirmed that prioritizing underlinked articles resulted in better article suggestions. We then evaluated the change on Growth pilot wikis, and results suggest that more newcomers are successfully completing the task and experiencing fewer reverts. We have now deployed the new prioritization model to all wikis with "add a link" enabled. [6][7]
We continue the deployment of "add a link" to more wikis. These changes are regularly announced in Tech News. To know if newcomers at your wiki have access to this feature, please visit your Homepage.
The Impact module was deployed on our pilot wikis, where we conducted an A/B test. We published initial findings, and a data scientist is now completing experiment analysis. [8]
Donor Thank you page experiment – Donors land on a “thank you” page after donation, and that landing page now includes a call to action to try editing: Example Thank you page in French. Question from Oystermouth99 (11:07, 12 April 2023)
Hello, the article I want to edit is entitled Ethanolamine-O-sulfate. As it stands it contains very little information. I would like to add material from about 10 references published in mainly journals of biochemistry and pharmacology. A simple way of doing this would to add a section under the heading History. Would this be OK?. --Oystermouth99 (talk) 11:07, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
@Oystermouth99, Wikipedia encourages users to be bold, so go for it, your edits would probably be really helpful. I like how you have verifiability in mind even though you are a relatively new user, not many pay much attention to that with their first few edits. That article definitely needs some attention, thanks for helping out and feel free to message back if you have any additional questions! Justiyaya 13:18, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
Thanks. I've prepared what I want to add in Microsoft Word. I've also discovered Sandbox. It seems that I can edit the article and send a draft to someone for approval or suggested improvements before the edited version is made public. When I have finished it can I send it to you? Oystermouth99 (talk) 08:08, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello ! I am glad that you have been appointed as my mentor. I wanted to become a Wikipedia moderator. Could you help me with this ? --Zev Editor (talk) 10:28, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
Hi @Zev Editor, adminship requires years of experience, so not yet, but maybe within a few years. Your first few edits are decent, some had a few mistakes though, be sure to preview edits after finishing changes to make sure that they look decent before publishing, using an edit summary, and reading through the five pillars would be good places to improve. Hi Skar-V - Musical Artist, as mentioned on your talk page, you generally should not create or edit pages about yourself or anything you have a personal connection to. A guideline exists on this here, which in sum suggests that writing an autobiography about yourself is strongly discouraged, I believe what you are suggesting with the message above would fall under this category. Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions! Justiyaya 12:14, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
We passed the 1 million Suggested edits milestone in late April!
The Suggested edits feature (AKA Newcomer tasks) increase newcomer activation by ~12%, which flows on through to increased retention. (source)
Suggested edits increase the number of edits newcomers complete in their first two weeks and have a relatively low revert rate. (source)
Suggested edits are available on all Wikipedia language editions.
Newer Suggested edits, like Add a link and Add an image, aren’t yet deployed to all wikis, but these structured tasks further increase the probability that newcomers will make their first edit. (source)
The new Impact module was released to Growth pilot wikis in December 2022, and we are now scaling the feature to another ten wikis. [13]
The Leveling up features are deployed at our pilot wikis.
The Personalized praise features were deployed at our pilot wikis on May 24. Mentors at pilot wikis will start to receive notifications weekly when they have “praise-worthy” mentees. Mentors can configure their notification preferences or disable these notifications.
We are progressively releasing Add a link to more wikis. [15]
After adding Thanks to Recent Changes, Watchlist and Special:Contributions, we investigated Thanks usage on the wikis. There is no evidence that thanks increased after the feature was added on more pages.
We shared an overview of Growth annual planning ideas, and have started community discussion about these potential projects. We would love to hear your feedback on these ideas!
Hi, I added the premiere date for Canada in the main body of the main article, and tried to add the citation in the reference section, but that section is mostly blank when in edit mode, so due to my lack of editing knowledge (and having been able to edit this section in other articles before), I'm wondering if you could either let me know how to add the citation in this article myself, or perhaps add it for me. This is the link I was attempting to add: https://www.wnetwork.com/shows/outlander/
For some reason, Outlander is premiering two days after the US premier date, so I added that info. It's just missing the citation/link to the reference section. I'm just not experienced enough with Wikipedia methodology. (talk) --Kubrickrules (talk) 02:53, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.
Technical news
Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.
Arbitration
The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.
Hello, I need help with the article Khmer royal cuisine. It has become an WP:3RR. I've kindly asked to reach a common ground but they refuse to be civil or follow WP:NPA, if you look at the history of the talk page. Their dismissal of my questions have me doubting they have good intentions.
There is one editor solely focusing on my edits and following me into other pages. I've looked at their recent contributions and there are WP:DISRUPTSIGNS, specifically WP:RUNAWAY behavior in indigenous Khmer articles, which has low readership, few editors monitoring and is an underrepresented group.
For example, in the Num banhchok article, they intentionally misspelled the name, added an unrelated/unflattering photo in the center, made it political, and added a fake folklore that referenced a blog that painted Khmers as "xenophobic". Starting at (14:24, 19 June 2021).
I am concerned about this editor and need help on how to proceed. Thank you for your time. --Cerie1914 (talk) 20:17, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
Hi Cerie1914, I do think that although Turaids could've done a better job assuming good faith and remaining civil in the discussion on the talk page, but I do however agree with him in the case of the talk page section that you pointed out. As, (to quote Netherzone in the talk page) it is clearly stated - and verifiable - in the citation and that as a collaborative encyclopedia project we go by what the sources say, not by one's own personal opinions.
I would also generally avoid citing ignore all rules in content related disputes with other editors and would encourage you to provide alternative sources that provides backing to your claims. If you believe that the source is "heavily biased", find alternative sources that support your edits, or further and more clearly establish why the source is unreliable.
I would also encourage you to assume good faith looking at the the third and second paragraph above. I think both of you are trying to make the encyclopedia better, but are disagreeing on what the article should look like. I've had little experience being in disputes like this, but would assume that it's really frustrating. Feel free to post additional questions below :D Justiyaya 05:17, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your response. This particular editor has already posted on my talk page warning about my question to you and will probably see this. I think it is now gone beyond assuming good faith. They have already made uncivil remarks about me on my talk page complaining about my edits to my mentor, who have already given them a warning. Thank you again for taking the time to read and answer my questions. Cerie1914 (talk) 06:35, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
Looking over Turaids latest contributions again and taking a closer look at the discussions. I see nothing but civil comments made recently by Turaids, with more problematic comments written on or before June 10th. I applaud him for walking back and removing remarks made on your talk page and both of you for seeking a resolution on his talk page. I strongly object to your claim that this gone beyond assuming good faith, I think both of you were heading towards a really nice resolution on his talk page. Turaids has recently asserted multiple times that he'd much rather devote his time elsewhere, and to reiterate my previous point, I still think both of you are trying to make the encyclopedia better, just in different ways. @Cerie1914 What do you think should happen? Justiyaya 07:24, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to take a closer look and helping me see that they did remove their remarks. I was seeking additional perspective and your helpful input is encouraging for me as a new editor. Thank you. Cerie1914 (talk) 19:44, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
Welcome! Feel free to reach out for help again if you need any :D Justiyaya 01:59, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
It would be so much easier to assume good faith, if the said editor wouldn't continue making false claims not only to justify their removal of reliably sourced information, but also about me. It became a WP:3RR precisely because they tried deleting a reliably sourced piece of information threetimesin a row and it was me who stopped short of reverting them for the third time (the revision history is there for everyone to see) and started a discussion, where I tried to engage them twice. When other editors joined the discussion, also disagreed with them and started discussing ways of improving the sentence, they exited the discussion the moment it became clear that the word they so insistently tried to get rid of is there to stay. And their invitation of collaboration also seemed to expire the moment I continued disagreeing with their take on Wikipedia core principles.
As for num banhchok, the page was actually renamed (i.e. "misspelled") by a completely different user, which is, again, in the revision history for everyone to see. Regarding their outlandish claims about "fake folklore", I just started another discussion about their removal of yet more reliably sourced information. The fact that they complain about "unflattering photo" or writing about politics gives an impression that they still don't understand what Wikipedia is and is not. Maybe you can explain to them that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a promotional booklet. –Turaids (talk) 15:19, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
Hi, sorry, I've been a bit busy and will be until maybe tomorrow night. Wouldn't have time to review and read everything. might respond later Justiyaya 06:14, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
@Turaids I don't think there is much more for me to say, I think the above discussion is sufficient, also the editor is currently inactive. I do think the discussion initiated by you was the right way to go. Justiyaya 01:58, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
I could start discussions like that for almost all of their edits and can only guess how many more of their claims have to be proven as objectively false for them to be finally regarded as an unreliable source of information. I hope that if they do eventually return they do so with a better attitude and mindset, because otherwise even more time will have to be spent cleaning after them. I'll be sure to ping you in the potential future scenarios, so they cannot just continue dismissing my objections to their disregard for Wikipedia rules or honesty as personal attacks. –Turaids (talk) 14:55, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
Request on 01:12:20, 15 June 2023 for assistance on AfC submission by FreedomSocialists
Please explain in more detail why this small feminist and socialist press doesn't meet criteria for having a Wikipedia page. Wikipedia has a long list of feminist publishers that are on a par with Red Letter Press. Why does the fact of RLP's existence over many decades and the list of publications on its website (also on Google Books and the Library of Congress) not qualify it? Many of the book reviews of RLP titles, and at least one article about the press, were printed in small publications and are not available in current online archives. How else can I verify the publisher's existence and relevance for people trying to find alternative publishers?
Hi @FreedomSocialists, thank you for reaching out. I think you have misunderstood why the article is declined. As an encyclopedia, when choosing subjects, we do not consider how long the subject has existed or the amount of publications it has, nor reviews of its publications.
Instead, Wikipedia looks at notability, what is generally considered to be (copying from decline message) multiple published sources that are:
in-depth (not just brief mentions about the subject or routine announcements)
reliable
secondary
strictly independent of the subject
When I reviewed the draft, I was unable to locate these sources in the source list, leading to the decline, which echos the previous decline as well. If you think I made a mistake, please reply below with two or three sources that satisfy the above criteria, and I'll take a look. If you have any other questions surrounding the topic, please post them below as well. Justiyaya 01:46, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
