Look at WP:RS to see what sort of references count for notability. Others can be used for more info. Can't remember what article this is - very long hard day - but if I've tagged it for references to be improved, you usually get a while. If I tagged it for deletion as unref bio of living person, you get 10 days. Peridon (talk) 19:36, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for helping me sort out those pages I started (I also started one for makeup winner Ve Niell) I've been a long time user of Wikipedia, just never decided to start an account till recently! Anyway, I decided to put up pages for those that seemed like they can use one. Sadly the sound cats don't have all the links so I don't know if all of them are there. (And of course I've found tons of wrong links, someone else found a intresting one on makeup for Hook though it looked like where instead of leading to the makeup artist it lead to a, well an adult star) Names that I might add soon: Craig Berkey (Sound artist who works with the Coens); Ben Snow (Multiple nominated visual effects artist); Cheryl Carasik (Multiple nominated art director); John Bright (Costume designer who use to work with Jenny Beaven); Janet Patterson (Muliple nominated costume designer); As well as quite a few makeup artist who have no pages yet. There are some older nominees I might add as well from the 30s/40s. (As well as films) Kamkek (talk) 15:37, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Hello. Here (below) are some charts that I once found on Wikipedia. They are somewhat old; it was probably a year or two ago (or so) that I ran across them. Maybe they are helpful to you, nonetheless. Thanks! (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 00:54, 3 February 2011 (UTC))

But See: The earliest nominee in this category (Best Actor) who is still alive is Jackie Cooper (1931) followed by Mickey Rooney (1940). The earliest winner in this category who is still alive is Ernest Borgnine (1956) followed by Maximilian Schell (1962) both won over Spencer Tracy and starred in the films Tracy was nominated. The few remaining living nominees from the 1940s-50s Hollywood era include Kirk Douglas (3 nominations), Tony Curtis and Richard Todd (1 each). Sidney Poitier also received his first nomination in 1958 with Curtis.
Okay now, I was just wondering if someone can provide a list of people who won for real people. As you may notice, every year since 1998 someone has won for playing one. (And I do remember reading that Bullock was I believe the 13th person to win for playing a real person who was alive at the time) Kamkek (talk) 22:03, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

And yeah I didn't do them in any order, though I eventully went in reverse order by years to double check to see if I missed anyone.
And yeah sometimes the film was a true story but had non true characters (Bridge on River Kwaii, 12 O'Clock High, ect.)
Kamkek (talk) 02:42, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
So do you know of any others to start a page? Thanks
Kamkek (talk) 01:06, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
I have reviewed a few of the articles you have edited and have noticed a pattern of somewhat poor grammar in many of your edits. While I appreciate your additions I believe it would be best if you contacted some reviewers about your articles that would help ensure proper style and grammar. -Nem1yan (talk) 01:35, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
I notice that you tagged the page Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers for speedy deletion with the reason "an article about a company, corporation, organization, or group that does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because this article is not about a company, it's about a type of transducer. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, or using the WP:AFD process. Thanks! – GorillaWarfare talk • contribs 19:48, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Your tag was good; don't worry. If you're manually tagging G10, you need to blank the page (which you did), but you need to put ((db-attack|blanked=yes)); if you don't you have to edit it and remove a random space that gets inserted before it works properly. Thought you might find that useful. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 17:46, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Okay thanks, sometimes I also type it too fast and then put it wrong, so yeah thank you.
I'm wondering if you clicked the wrong button wen you tagged Hookflash as a hoax. It clearly is not. It is more likely to be a copyvio.--SPhilbrickT 20:23, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Just to let you know I don't think it's a bio - it's a copy and paste from Software architecture and I've tagged it A10 accordingly. I've left your tag on as well, just in case... Keep up the good work. Peridon (talk) 19:42, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Hey, how exactly is this page spam? Yoenit (talk) 20:59, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
I removed the BLP prod tag you placed on Lily Alone, as the article subject is a book, not a biography of a living person, and therefore cannot be deleted via BLP prod. I have, however, nominated the article for regular prod, as it is still completely unreferenced and does not demonstrate how it meets notability guidelines. —KuyaBriBriTalk 21:15, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Can I suggest having a good read through Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion? Getting the right tag isn't always easy - I cock up at times, so do we all. But getting the wrong one can lead to it being declined, and then no-one else checking why it should REALLY have gone. Are you working manually or with a tool? If with a tool, you might be hitting the wrong button (or whatever they have). If manually, which is how I work, you may need to bookmark this link and check through it. At first, I went through it every time, and copy and pasted the templates. Later I found I could remember the ones I used most - and just looked up the others. I'm not trying to put you off, just to help you get things right (which saves everyone time...). A tip if doing it manually (if you'll forgive the expression) is to use the names not the numbers. I know db-spam, db-talk and so on, but I couldn't tell you what A6 was (apart from being a rather nice Audi or a small piece of paper...). If you have problems, please ask for advice (but not me tonight - early start in the morning). Peridon (talk) 21:16, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Just a note about your Prod tag. This article is about a bar and music venue in a former garage that happens to be named after someone named "Sam Bond". But it's not actually about Sam Bond, nor is he mentioned in the article (I'm not even sure he's a real person), so it's not subject to BLP. Cheers, Valfontis (talk) 21:24, 10 February 2011 (UTC) Yeah thanks, I'm getting the hang of this now. I'm done tagging for the day (and its only the afternoon here!) Well probably later today, but yeah I did alot.Kamkek (talk) 21:25, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Hello Kamkek. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Bubble Pump, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. Thank you. PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 01:43, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Hello Kamkek. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Mayall Road to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 02:06, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
This edit, tagging Maxwell jordan for speedy deletion for "no credible assertion of notability" was invalid. A "credible assertion of notability" is made in the article, calling Jordan "the pre-eminent researcher and independent scholar in the fields of occult & religious philosophy". While this claim may turn out to be complete bollocks, it is credible on its face, and requires a more deliberative process than speedy deletion. I don't think Batchalorking and Dj zombie were G11s - they were clear A7s, as they just gave a name and a link, with no assertion of importance, but they were not promotional. WP:CSD#G11 is only for "Pages that are exclusively promotional", and is rather over-used: if there is some promotional element but A7 also applies it is preferable to use that, to avoid a situation where the author takes out a few adjectives, says "now it's not promotion" and has to be told, in effect, "OK, you pass G11, but gotcha under A7!" There is good advice for speedy taggers at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:02, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Another point about speedy tagging: if the author is a newbie with nothing on their talk page, it is useful to give them a Welcome paragraph before the speedy notice - it is less WP:BITEy, and gives them useful links which may help them avoid the same mistake next time. A useful one is ((firstarticle|<article name>)) - you can see what it looks like at User talk:IAmDee. It has one oddity: it automatically adds your signature, so for once you need not to put four tildes after it. Keep up the good work - New Page Patrol needs all the eyes it can get! JohnCD (talk) 19:51, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Peter James Perry O'Rourke wrote his first maths text book at three. Oh yeh? He created the yoyo. But he was born in 1981. Yoyos were around in 500 BCE. It's a hoax. Your tag is correct, however. He is definitely non-notable. I've put the hoax tag on. Tagging in CSD isn't all that easy sometimes. You were right to stick to the lesser level, though, if you weren't sure. With one like this, look closely. A maths book at three? There'd already be an article about this prodigy. Google (or Wiki search) yoyo. I'm old enough to know that they were around before 1981. You mightn't be. It's better to take a moment and possibly miss the chance to tag it because you're beaten to it. (Unless you are having a tagging race with someone - which is really not recommended. Keep it up - you will learn loads this way. But take a bit of time. Look at what the article says. I'm a speed reader - but I can sometimes miss something. If you're not, you must take time. Peridon (talk) 20:57, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Okay thanks (I was not born till 82, but I know Yo Yos were around before that) Funny how some of these can be really off (One was something like "Born 1875, was a model in the year 2010, um yeah that be the oldest person ever) Kamkek (talk) 20:59, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
This page is unreferenced, uncategorized, very short and likely not notable, and yet you marked as patrolled without even adding any maintenance templates. Next time your patrolling and you see a page like that, please at least add some templates to it before marking as patrolled. JDDJS (talk) 17:20, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
I probably hit that on accident then, whoops. Because I only try to patrol if it has stuff on it.

That's because imdb isn't a very good source to link to. Some parts of it are good, like the writing credits marked with "WGA" that are supplied directly by the Writers Guild of America (where applicable), and the MPAA ratings reasons, where they appear, that are supplied directly by the Motion Picture Association of America. The rest of it, though, isn't very good:
So many people were posting references to the "bad" sections of it that finally it was decided to block references to "most" parts of it. But the good parts are easily found elsewhere. You can also try using one of the templates found on this page: IMDb templates. What other websites did you want to link to? Let me know on my talk page or put the {{help me}} template back up and someone else will be along to help. :) Banaticus (talk) 23:04, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi there, I saw you tagged King air bomb for speedy deletion — when you tag pages for speedy deletion, can you make sure to mark as patrolled pages so they don't show up as still needing review? This saves work for other editors also patrolling new pages. Hello Kamkek, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Ek sapne ki maut, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not blatantly vandalism or a hoax. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Salvio Let's talk about it! 20:33, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
this was just a woefully incomplete article, not a promotional article. Since we regard all colleges (including community colleges) as appropriate for an article, I did not delete it. Please re-read WP:CSD and only use the deletion tags when the really apply--there are other ways of dealing with articles that need improvement, such as giving advice to the author. DGG ( talk ) 20:43, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi. ((db-hoax)) was not an appropriate tag at Fear the Beer, when the article just repeated the words of the title. That is covered by ((db-nocontent)); but more importantly, you should not have tagged the article only one minute after it was created by a newbie author. Many new authors start off hesitantly, and it is extremely discouraging for them to see a speedy tag pop up while they are thinking about their second sentence. If I had seen that as soon as you tagged it, I would have applied a ((hasty)) template, but 25 minutes had gone by and the author had gone, probably never to return. We have an unfortunately well earned, but unnecessary, reputation for being unfriendly to new users. Please read WP:BITE, and wait at least 10 - 15 minutes before tagging as A1 or A3 a very short new article. JohnCD (talk) 21:31, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

I tagged the Foddio Trio as a hoax - it was a real load of rubbish and has gone as vandalism - and put a personal attack warning (level 1} on OpheliaEscaulus. I've removed most of her post here. It happens. When it does, it usually means you were right... Another tip: try shadowing a regular patroller and just see what they tag and work out why (and then see what happens...). It's less painful than charging in and finding out you weren't right. And never be afraid to ask. If someone gets in while you're asking, so what? the job's done and that's the thing. Use Google on suspected hoaxes. I usually do at least three searches per hoax. I can't remember getting knocked back on one yet. Peridon (talk) 15:26, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
When you applied this tag to Joshua orvin yaury, why did you blank the content of the page? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:49, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
Hello Kamkek. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Il mondo di Lilly, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A quick Google shows this is NOT a hoax. It may well not be notable, but G3 is not a valid tag. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 17:31, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
I am trying to fix this one. Bearian (talk) 16:38, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
I object to your use of the speedy deletion tag within the first few hours of an articles life. As a new user of Wikipedia (with regard to writing articles) it was a surprise to see your request in my talk page and the article I constructed. As it happens I didn't have time to write more information on that article and was planning on returning to it later, your instant and aggressive stance made me think twice about contributing to Wikipedia. I appear don't appear to be the only person on WIkipedia with these concerns either... Pizza21 (talk) 17:07, 16 February 2011 (UTC) Sorry about that, the reason was because it sounded like one as people have done that before saying they invented something. (Plus I figured that the inventor already have a page on here!)
If an administrator moves an article to another title without a redirect, the article will still show up on Special:NewPages as an unpatrolled article; however, when you click on it the article doesn't exist. There's a bug in the software that borks it; see ((db-unpatrolled)). The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 17:48, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi. If a page is completely blank, you need to have a look at the history. Often, as with Revd Professor David Wilkinson and Trimammium just now, it has been blanked by its author, probably because he has seen a speedy or copyvio notice and realises it is inappropriate. In that case, don't tag it ((db-nocontent)) (though that is true) but ((db-author)) or ((db-g7)) author requests deletion, and there is no need to give the author a notice of speedy deletion. What is worse and often happens (but not what you did here) is when the author is given a vandalism warning for the blanking. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:12, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Regarding this edit at Amelia zidane, please do not use the ((PROD BLP)) deletion template with articles that have sources. You might have meant to use the ((PROD)) template, which supports the use of a rationale like the one you used in this deletion proposal. Also, please mention that you are proposing the article's deletion in the edit summary. One other thing, why did you add the phrase "Bold Text" to the article? Thanks! VQuakr (talk) 03:23, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
Yes, you were right to tag it as a load of rubbish, but it had someone's name in it as an example of the creature - therefore it is an attack. (I've blanked it and tagged it.) (Same with Porn gorillas.) I would suggest suggest again you shadow one or more of us to see what we do. I did quite a bit of watching when I started on New Accounts. I looked at what someone had tagged, and worked out why. And I kept a copy of Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion to hand for quite some time. (I still use it if not sure, but can remember the ones I use most - spam, bio, hoax, inc, and vandalism.) Spend a little time without tagging, but just watching. No-one comes fully formed into Wikipedia - an apprenticeship of sorts is needed. Peridon (talk) 22:05, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
I'd go for db-context or db-content - it fits both as there's no other history. Perhaps they are re-creating something deleted and playing cautious... Peridon (talk) 22:07, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
"Sir Nicholas Lionel James Bryant" indeed. I wondered whether to add a spam tag - the Guardian tags leading to Guardian Life assurance not the paper - but thought yours was enough. It's quite a well constructed hoax - it might have fooled me even - until the refs are checked. Peridon (talk) 22:18, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Please don't forget to notify the creator of an article when you nominate for CSD, e.g. Mikael-Shahin Mortazavi-Moghaddam--SPhilbrickT 02:49, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Your article, Murray Edmund Watts was nominated for deletion as a copyvio by another editor. I rewrote it sufficiently to avoid deletion, and is is clearly notable. . Please remember to avoid WP:Close paraphrase--it is necessary to more than change to words, but to reorganize the article. , DGG ( talk ) 02:22, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps rather than nominate an article for proposed deletion saying it needs imdb references at least, you could look for the imdb reference yourself and add it for a start, if it's there. If it isn't, as seems to be the case for at least some of the articles you nominated for deletion, you should say that; it facilitates the necessary deletion. I've deleted some of your nominated articles where I did fail to verify on imdb. Ideally, one should look further before nominating or deleting, but I myself do not always do so if there appears to chance of notability. DGG ( talk ) 23:10, 23 February 2011 (UTC) Hey thanks, yeah I thought of that before, just really never got down to it! I have submited in a few articles myself using the IMDB along with some other movie sites like TCM and others. I have used this site for years, just never thought of submitting stuff till recently! Patrolling is hard. Sometimes there are border line cases. (The toughest are the foreign ones IMO. They seem to be the ones who delete the speedys the most often.) Well have a nice day.

Hello. This is Ian Baker. I'm a developer over at the Wikimedia Foundation.
tl;dr: We’re designing a much-improved UI for NPP tools, and we’re seeking guidance—and hopefully, screencasts of your NPP workflow—from expert New Page Patrollers like yourself. We’re asking for this so we can see (literally) what actions you take during patrolling which could be better supported through software.
I'm contacting you because, according to our statistics, you're a particularly active New Page Patroller on the English Wikipedia. Here at the WMF, we're working on a design for a much-improved NPP user interface. We hope that it will (as part of a larger strategy) address many outstanding issues in the article creation process, while also providing a more modern, streamlined and efficient UX for patrollers.
To do this successfully, we are relying upon the guidance of our most experienced patrollers. I'm sending this message to the ten most prolific patrollers in 2011, and a few other people who've been participating actively in this discussion.
Specifically, I'm hoping you can take a few minutes to record a screencast of yourself doing NPP. We're looking for a 10-15 minute session, but more is okay if you feel it's needed. Ideally, you'd first walk us through your process, explaining as you go, and then switch to doing NPP at your usual pace.
Our preliminary examination of this feature has shown that many experienced patrollers have evolved their own specially-tailored interface and workflow, often using external tools and plugins. Making an interface that works well will require understanding those tools and the motivation for using them. However, even if you haven't done that, observing your NPP technique will still be valuable, giving us insights into what factors inform your judgement, how you use the existing interface, and how long NPP generally takes an expert patroller such as yourself.
If you'd like to help, great! I've posted a set of instructions over at the relevant thread on the Article Creation Workflow talk page, which should get you everything you need to know. If something's missing or you have a question, post it there. That's also the place to go if you want to learn more about the reasoning behind this request.
I understand that people have differing expectations of privacy with regard to their own computer and voice. Therefore, you can either post this screencast publicly (place a link in the talk page above) or if you'd prefer, send it to me privately at ian@wikimedia.org.
Of course, any other input on this feature that you’d like to provide is also welcome. Don't hesitate to get involved in the discussion on the above-linked talk page, or contact me personally. I'd love to hear from you.

Whether you have patrolled many pages or only a few, we now need to know about your experience. The survey takes only 6 minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist us in analyzing the results of the survey; the WMF will not use the information to identify you.
Please click HERE to take part. You are receiving this invitation because you have patrolled new pages. For more information, please see NPP Survey |

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
