Warning, boilerplate ahead:
Welcome!
Hello, Torsodog, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place ((helpme))
before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome!
All safe, boilerplate over. So anyway: thank you for your edits on Asakusa and elsewhere. Please keep it up.
Oh dear, the boilerplate has some nonsense about how you should ask me for help. But please don't, as I'm about to leave Wikipedia to its own devices for the greater part of two weeks. However, if you have any question after that, you're very welcome to ask me. Although you seem to know what you're doing as it is. -- Hoary (talk) 07:14, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Please don't move pages by cut and paste, that loses the edit history of the original article, which is a copyright violation. I'm going to undo your move until it can be moved properly. Corvus cornixtalk 07:46, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Not a problem. Unfortunately, now that both articles have an edit history, only an admin can do a move. You can make a request for a valid history move at WP:RFPM. Corvus cornixtalk 07:58, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi, I noticed you have a request in at peer review which has not yet received any response besides the semi-automated script. Have you tried requesting a peer review from the volunteers list? Another idea you might want to try is to review someone else's request (particularly one from the list of requests without responses), then ask that they look at your request. Hope these are helpful suggestions and help to get some feedback for your request soon, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 17:09, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Hey Torsodog, thanks for you kind words. Of course you're welcome, if there's anything more I can do to help with this or any other article, or anything else Wikipedia-related, don't hesitate to give me a shout. All the best, The Rambling Man (talk) 08:24, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Great work on the Posting system article. I saw a couple of the edits you'd made as I was going to bed, and when I woke up, there was a fully sourced article. Fantastic stuff. Mosmof (talk) 12:37, 31 March 2008 (UTC) |
Heh heh...sorry, bud, for two things: one, for throwing you off with the new username, and two, for making you feel stupid. I've been there!
P.S.: I've changed my sig. colors. ;-) --La Pianísta 04:45, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
La Pianísta has smiled at you! Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by smiling at someone else, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Cheers, and happy editing!
Smile at others by adding ((subst:Smile)) to their talk page with a friendly message.
I thought I'd give you a heads up that I don't think I'll be working on the Portal until Friday night or Saturday. My coursework requires more attention at the moment. In the mean time, another user left some feedback on the portal on my talk page. Check it out if you'd like. -JadeFox (talk) 03:36, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi, I got your message. Nice job changing the Overview tab to Geography. By the way, the text (from the Japan article) in the Projects tabbed box seems out of context. A brief overview of what WikiProject Japan's objectives and most important activities are would be more appropriate. Article creation, maintenance, AfD rescue, etc. The WikiProject page is very well detailed - lots of material there to work from. The Transhumanist 08:16, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Approved. Enjoy! --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 20:52, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Hey Torsodog. I recently began a project called japanwiki (japanwiki.org). I did that before I discovered the Portal:Japan function in Wikipedia. I resoect the work you have done so far and I was wondering if you could ask the community what they think is best. The portal function of Wikipedia or a completely independent site. I built the site using mediawiki (same as wikipedia) and I am hoping to make it a source of knowledge for Japan. I wanted to ask for the help of the community but I see that a lot of the work has already been done here. Do you think the community would be willing to move the content to JapanWiki? What do you think? I would be willing to let anyone who is serious to be an administrator and shape the site his preference. Jubeidono (talk) 19:54, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Hello, your GAN of the above article has been reviewed, however, it does not meet the GA criteria to the fullest, though, it has been placed on hold, in order for the comments to be addressed. Thank You and Good luck.--SRX 21:45, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

If you want to help me choose Category:Top-importance Chicago articles, come comment at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chicago/Assessment#Current_Top-importance_Candidates by June 5th.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 13:49, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
I am kind of interested in pursuing a WP:FT with Millennium Park. This means that all the attractions on the first line in the template have to be WP:GAs, Millennium Park has to get to WP:FA. I am not sure if we would have to improve any other article or if any others would be missing. I have made Crown Fountain and Jay Pritzker Pavilion GAs. I am working on BP Pedestrian Bridge. I could use help with any of the other articles. I guess if I were to point you in a direction, I would think you could have fun properly citing Cloud Gate.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 08:12, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I replied to your comment at Talk:BP Pedestrian Bridge. You may also want to take photos of Lakeshore East buildings that remain photoless.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 23:23, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I just scoured flickr. The following are out Lurie Garden options:
I will probably upload them to commons tomorrow or Monday.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 08:22, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
I just added some info to the talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 20:20, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Now we have Cloud Gate, BP Pedestrian Bridge, Lurie Garden, McCormick Tribune Ice Rink, Wrigley Square and Harris Theater (Chicago) all in the WP:GAC queue. The latter ones could use some more beef. Let me know if you can find anything to help out, because they are kind of borderline.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 05:56, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
There are five sections in the main page. The easiest one to make is the did you know section. Any article that was created in the last five days or newly expanded five-fold in the last five days is eligible. Right now BP Pedestrian Bridge is on the main page. At any given time 6-12 different articles are featured. A picture from one of the articles goes on the main page. It is not uncommon for an article that usually gets 50 visitors a day to get 5000 during a six hour run in this section. You are a hard working guy. You would get on the main page for taking any of the redlinked articles at WP:CHIFTD to over 1500 characters in a five day period for example. If you are a good photographer you can also make the main page pretty easily with a picture. So far I have made the main page in three section. Featured article is the hardest. We have got to get you thinking about getting on the main page regularly and if you have a lot of great photos, you should try at WP:FPC. I have learned that with my point and shoot, I can only succeed if I get a high quality image that is virtually irreplaceable. I have only one WP:FC in many attempts. We can talk further, but I encourage you to create a new article and try and make the main page. We need to get our other redlinks written up so any of those at WP:CHIFTD would be a good start.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 08:41, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
If you get a chance we could use a picture of the North Exelon Pavilions. The Northwest Pavilion is the welcome center, so I guess this should be the main image for the page if we can get an image. I have some requests in at Flickr for some authors to change their licensing, but they may not be willing to.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:47, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
The interior pictures are not so good on flickr compared to those at http://www.aia.org/aiarchitect/thisweek05/tw0325/0325pw_bike.htm . You are practically across the street from that one, but I am not sure if you have to pay to see the insides. Can you see the Cycle Center from the same place you shot the Bridge? We have some images, but might do better with better images. E.g., comparing the locker photo we have with the one at AIA is not so good for us.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 23:08, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Hey, what guidelines are you using for writing out Japanese addresses in English? I haven't been able to find any consensus on the "proper" way of doing it, so I'm seeing what information you have before I start a discussion on Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles) (the format given on Wikipedia:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles) seems a bit out of date, so that's why I want to update it all). Thanks for your input. Douggers (talk) 05:22, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
--Gatoclass (talk) 20:32, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
At WP:FAC you are only suppose to have one active nomination at a time. Thus, we may want to both nominate articles. I know you were considering nominating Crown Fountain. Are there any other articles at WP:CHIFTD that you want to nominate. Cloud Gate would be logical because you have cleaned it up. I am just trying to figure out how to attack nominating articles for promotion if we are successful at WP:GA.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 00:44, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
