I added the VHS box image of Brideshead Revisited (TV serial) because VHSs had been solely released before DVDs came along. I could not remove the DVD image because editors some editor at the talk page were against replacing the DVD cover because of literally the image quality. I've added a newspaper report to the rationale that summarizes why the judge focused on the location of the incident, but I want to see the context before adding anything to the article. • Explicit, that isn't the issue. There are three main points. First, he was found next to that slip road in the image. In a highly unusual decision, a court in Frankfurt ordered the police to reopen the investigation in 2012 because, the court said, that junction is exactly where a pedestrian would end up, and "would have had to cross the four-lane road if he did not want or was unable to turn back," if they had left the area of town in which Duggan's family argue he may have spent his last night. The part of town in which he spent his last night is a crucial point within the inquiry. Please see the rationale and the newspaper article I added as a source. [1]
  The image also shows that the cars had been moved before the accident investigator took the images. That the only images available are where the cars are parked up ahead is another issue within the inquiry. Also, the body appears to have been moved too. It is much easier for readers to understand those three issues by looking at an image than only having text.
  The broader point is that it isn't appropriate to encourage these extremist positions regarding images. Stefan tried last year to delete the Auschwitz Album, of which File:Selection Birkenau ramp.jpg is a part. He nominated the latter the day after I uploaded it, [2] arguing that we ought to respect the copyright of the SS officer who took the images, and that the entire collection ought to be deleted (discussion).   • Then why is there no discussion about this in the article? File:Selection Birkenau ramp.jpg is a different issue; the problem there was no evidence that a) the picture never has been published with permission from the SS officer (necessary but not sufficient condition for PD-source), and b) the picture has been published with permission from the SS officer (necessary but not sufficient condition for PD-US). Hi,

I have updated the article about a Monk and Nun. I added 2 Photos one each in the article. One photo was given to me by the Nun herself. Khanti Khema. I have sent her a email asking to give me permission to use the photo on wiki.

Other photo of B. Vimalaramsi is used from the website but I have a implicit permission to use this photo.

I am unsure of the why copyright rules work. But I assumed that if we are using a photo of the person in a article about that person it would not be a problem.

Please let me know that if a email is sufficient to fulfil this criteria of permission to use on Wikipedia.

• @Mcolombowala:For both photos, we need written explicit permission. And this is not just permission to use it on Wikipedia, but it is permission for anyone on Earth to use the photo for any purpose. Some licensing options include releasing it to public domain or using Wikipedia's standard license, WP:Creative commons. When it comes to promotional photos, a lot of companies are not willing to do this. If you can't get these permissions, another option, if you know these people personally, is to take a photo of them yourself.

We typically allow seven days for you to send in the permissions for the file before they are deleted. If it takes longer than that, we can undelete the files later.

• Not sure, but leaning towards delete. The image that Oiyarbepsy referenced above is not the same image as the one nomimated here, so proof that it was a possible copyright violation could not have been proven by that information alone. However, afterwards, the uploader Mcolombowala admitted that the image came from a source which they are not the copyright holder, so that alone seems grounds for deletion as a copyright violation. With that information, the only real way this image could stay on Wikipedia at this point is if one of two things happen: 1) If the editor goes through the OTRS system to prove copyright information (I'm going to place a WP:F11 tag on the image here shortly since the uploader did not confirm the source in a way which the licensing tag can be confirmed and did not claim that they are the copyright holder), or 2) the subject of the photo has an article and is deceased since then it could be placed on that article as fair-use as a non-free image per WP:NFCC requirements. Hi Steel1943 I had a verbal confirmation to use this image but did not want to go thru the hassle of getting it on email as I had a Image which I had taken on my phone which I uploaded and used. Thus I would not be needing the Image in question. You may delete it. Or as per process whatever happens.
