The Ōtautahi Christchurch monthly meetups are a chance for Wiki people (Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikisource, and so on) to get together. Everybody's welcome, beginners or experienced.
Foundation Cafe, ground floor of Tūranga, the Christchurch Central Library.
This is a slightly hastily-organised and semi-official meetup. Mike has found himself called away to do important Wiki-business. So to carry the torch I will be sitting in the Foundation cafe for 2 hours doing Wikipedia stuff on my laptop. If anyone wants to come along for a chinwag about Wikipedia you are welcome to join me. UPDATE I have caught some horrible bug so won't be able to attend after all.
Nothing directly related to Christchurch, but I did take a golden opportunity to capture the voices of some notable people for the Voice Intro Project, which is a cool thing Mike mentioned at a previous meetup. David Palmer//cloventt(talk)
Aside from preparing for Wikimania, I have been working on some new projects that came out ofnthe Wikipedian at Large work: one of them is a Wiki drive with the University of Canterbury biology department, to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Zoology/Botany merger. With the help of the head of department we've drawn up a list of notable faculty which will be the target of an edit-a-thon later this year. Still trying to organise a Chch architecture edit-a-thon for next month, and working currently with several National Science Challenges to get their people and research into Wikipedia/Commons/Wikidata. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 01:58, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Notably, the Foveaux Strait has reached GA status and I'm currently waiting for someone to start reviewing to start on the Opawa article. Alexeyevitch(talk)05:55, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
