Zavarak (Persian: زوارك, also Romanized as Zavārak)[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Alamut-e Pain Rural District,[4] Alamut-e Sharqi District, Qazvin County, Qazvin province, Iran.
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 176 in 57 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 126 people in 43 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 102 people in 39 households.[2]
In The Valley of the Assassins, Zavarak is mentioned by British traveller and explorer Freya Stark as a place she visits during one of her Persian tours in the 1930s. She describes the immediate region in some detail.[7]
