- The result of the discussion was: rename. (non-admin closure) –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 10:37, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Nominator's rationale: Standard form. Roman Kingdom doesn't even use "Kingdom of Rome" anywhere on the page, and Google results for the latter just turn up pages titled with the former. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 15:18, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment I will not oppose but personally I think that the current name has greater precision than the target. How is it standard? Do we commonly say the "French Kingdom" or the "Spanish Kingdom"? Laurel Lodged (talk) 16:33, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Rename per nom (who invokes WP:C2D) and WP:C2C: parent is Category:Roman Kingdom, siblings are Category:People of the Roman Kingdom, Category:8th century BC in the Roman Kingdom, Category:7th century BC in the Roman Kingdom, Category:6th century BC in the Roman Kingdom. Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 16:37, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- PS: I should add that "Roman Kingdom" is the WP:COMMONNAME in historiography. Some states just have a certain conventional name, such as Roman Empire rather than Empire of Rome, Roman Republic rather than Republic of Rome, German Empire rather than Empire of Germany etc. With former states such as Florentine Republic/Republic of Florence and Venetian Republic/Republic of Venice it's a closer contest (although in English the "Republic of" formulation is more common). With "Roman Kingdom", it's not even close. Almost nobody says or writes "Kingdom of Rome". Cheers, Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 07:39, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Rename unless the article is renamed the other way around by WP:RM. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:47, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- That RM is 6 years old. It was never closed and archived. (Done.)

- Rename per nom. To match the main article. Dimadick (talk) 16:59, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Category:Battles involving the Kingdom of Rome and Category:Wars involving the Kingdom of Rome are currently WP:SMALLCATs but can be populated with items mentioned in List of Roman wars and battles up to 509 BCE. Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 18:22, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- In an effort to better distinguish it from List of Roman civil wars and revolts, I've renamed List of Roman wars and battles to List of Roman external wars and battles, and merged some content from 'external' to 'civil'. Much of these lists are full of unsourced or poorly sourced OR/SYNTH, so anyone who feels like fixing stuff and adding sources is invited to take a look. Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 02:50, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Rename. I was going to say that it's not that urgent for the category titles to match the main article, and that the present titles look fine. But on further reflection, "Kingdom of Rome" sounds more like a medieval/post-medieval entity (following the downfall of the Roman monarchy, the Romans came to hate the concept of kingship with such a passion that even the emperors carefully avoided any mention of kingship, and the traditional symbols of the Roman kings). So it's probably better to change it. P Aculeius (talk) 11:05, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Glad we agree here. :) Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 07:19, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment On a somewhat related note, there is an AfD going on at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Roman–Gallic wars, which I began as a result of looking over more Roman military history due to this CfR. Some of you might want to take a look and participate. Cheers, Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 07:22, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALLCAT for just one person. As always, every educational institution does not automatically get one of these the moment there's one alumnus with an article to file in it -- there have to be at least five or six alumni with articles before a category for them is warranted, and it aids navigation not a whit to have minicategories of one. A check of the institution's "what links here", further, reveals nobody else who could be added here to increase the category's population -- there are a fair number of people whose articles describe them as faculty of, or lecturers at, or subjects of sourcing published by, the institution, but not even one other article describes its subject as an alumnus. - Nominator's rationale: This is a highly subjective and oftentimes derogatory description which is unencyclopedic. Neighborhoods change character and this description is deeply presentist. User:Namiba 12:25, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:27, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: By my count, just 8 out of 38 entries in this category use the word at least once aside from the category name itself. None of those appear to be using it derogatorily, and most are source-based so I'm not sure the subjectivity argument applies without countersourcing. Not quite sure what to do about the presentism issue though, but I'm also not entirely clear if it is an issue. Could it be resolved by renaming the category to more strongly imply temporality? I could see an argument for dumping most of the category as unsourced and keeping seven of those eight (Echo Park only uses the term in a description of a song, not the neighborhood itself). QuietHere (talk | contributions) 15:40, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
- Went ahead and did the purge myself. The cat is now down to eight entries (I guess I miscounted above) which all explicitly call the neighborhoods hipster in prose. I would be willing to support a rename if it's seen as necessary, but I'm not convinced just yet that this needs deleting. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 15:51, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
