The result of the discussion was delete. With no prejudice against creation of a disambiguation page, as until someone attempts to create one, we won't know if too many entries is an imaginary problem. Jay 💬 08:15, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hardly the only team to use orange (off the top of my head, Cincinnati Bengals, Fighting Illini, Netherlands national football team, and presumably many more). The edit summary of lol does not inspire confidence that there's an underlying justification here. Delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 18:12, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Weak keep Redirecting to Jolly Roger is not appropriate as anyone searching for Jolly Roger Bay is likely expecting the Super Mario 64 level. Not being mentioned in the article is a fair point, though. It should be deleted if not kept. WPscatter t/c 03:31, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Thryduulf's suggestions. A large number of these terms are not exclusive or original to Star Wars; retargeting/disambiguating them is much more helpful than nuking the lot.
Regarding "Royal Guardman", Royal Guardsmen already exists but is a redirect to The Royal Guardsmen, a rock band; it may be better to add that to the list for disambiguation rather than retargeting so that the plural and singular point to the same place. – Scyrme (talk) 21:41, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't object to that, but I think it's probably worth having a separate discussion about whether Royal Guardsmen has a primary topic and if so what it is - without knowing the band exists I'd have expected it to also land at Royal guard. Thryduulf (talk) 21:48, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's fair. The important thing is that the singulars and plurals are both dealt with, to avoid confusing inconsistencies. – Scyrme (talk) 22:28, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. If @TNstingray is agreeable then perhaps Royal Guardsman can be withdrawn from this nomination in favour of a separate discussion about it and Royal Guardsmen (with pings to the others who have commented here @Pppery, @Jontesta). Thryduulf (talk) 22:40, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think I'd prefer royal guard rather than the band I had never heard of as a target for both Royal Guardsmen and Royal Guardsman, but I agree that should be the subject of a separate discussion. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:43, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To be clear, I never suggested that. I agree that the band should not be the target for both. One of them already targets the band; my suggestion was to change that. – Scyrme (talk) 23:12, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am agreeable to any and all changes the community deems to be best for the advancement of the encyclopedia. TNstingray (talk) 00:49, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Thryduulf: Has a discussion on Royal Guardsman/Royal Guardsmen been initiated yet? Or will that start after this one has concluded? – Scyrme (talk) 13:06, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm waiting a bit longer to see if @Jontesta has an opinion about my suggestion above (and haven't had much Wikipedia time today) but unless they (or someone else) objects I expect to do that and start a new discussion about that and the plural probably tomorrow. I've also got no objection to someone else doing that before I get to it). Thryduulf (talk) 14:59, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Croatia is obviously a good title, and as the native name Hrvatska is obviously a good redirect, but I don't think putting them together like this makes a good redirect. Unclear what this is supposed to be referring to, I assume it is supposed to be the density of something, but there's nothing in the article with this density at the moment. Even if something with a density of this value was added to the article I'm not sure of the utility of this redirect, there's nothing in the redirect name to suggest that a searcher would be looking for density. 192.76.8.77 (talk) 16:30, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - It was previously a redirect to Orders of magnitude (density) but that page was blanked and redirected in 2018, so a bot automatically retargeted 1 E96. I assume "1 E96" is E notation, equivalent to 1 untrigintillion (a redirect to Names of large numbers). Some similar redirects, such as 1 E10, exist and target Orders of magnitude (numbers) which would be the best target if this is kept. However, since 1×1096 does not have its own section and is not even mentioned it's probably better to delete this; redirects for random large non-notable numbers seems costly. – Scyrme (talk) 18:55, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This looks like an acronym for the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia but it's not mentioned in the target article, it's unused, it seems a bit contrived (also TFYROM doesn't exist even if FYROM does), and I can't find any real usage in a cursory Google Books search. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 16:21, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Searching for it on Google, it seems that it is indeed such an acronym, and it is used, albeit rarely. It's included in some dictionaries and was apparently used by both the WHO and the UN at least once. Since it doesn't seem to stand for anything else of note, I don't see why the redirect should be removed. --Antondimak (talk) 07:33, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can't seem to click on that UN link, my browser says it's a security issue. The WHO link I clicked, and it's a document that uses it in list of countries, and at the bottom, this is actually expanded. This indicates to me that this was a weird acronym even in the eyes of the people who wrote that list, so I don't think this is a likely search term and it's not necessary for the encyclopedia to include it. Otherwise it's a slippery slope into including every "The A.. C... " term as "TACRONYM" which we should not encourage just because it's technically possible to google 3 instances of it happening in the real world. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 08:17, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I found a way to get the UN link, and the first instance of this seems to say "The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (TFYRM)" after which "TFYRM" is used later in the document. Clearly the author defined the acronym ad hoc and explained it immediately, so I don't see how this would be anywhere approaching a common search term - anyone who encounters it inside this document will already know what they meant. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 08:24, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This page was moved to Amine (French singer) in 2016 as a result of confusing Amine (rapper), the latter of which has an "é". 2600:6C40:5400:5E68:DDF0:14C2:CFC:2D11 (talk) 07:07, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Create redirect Amine (American singer) to Aminé. The reason is because this source refers to the rapper as a singer with no "é". In addition, Aminé (singer) was also created as a redirect. 2600:6C40:5400:5E68:AC2C:D4E3:A6EE:4010 (talk) 01:00, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
WP:COMMONNAME asks us to use the name " most commonly used (...) in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources)". If you move Amine (French singer) back to its orignal title, then Danny Boy (rapper) (who's not only a rapper) and Danny Boy (singer) should be moved to Danny Boy O'Connor and Danny Boy Steward respectively, because searching the rapper Danny Boy's name throws up results of singer Danny Boy. 23.84.172.67 (talk) 15:12, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Disambiguate and retarget.

I don't really have a great idea as to what to do with this redirect. Its target has been changed a number of times. While it seems like 30th Street (San Diego) is more precise, it's a far less popular article than 30th Street Station, which is rather commonly referred to as "30th Street". I don't think deletion is the answer, but I would like to hear other editors opinions as to keep it where it is, retarget to 30th Street Station or do something else entirely? To all those saying keep, why y'all we prefer Cook (profession) over Chef? — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 13:37, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Because it's broader. A chef is a type of professional cook. Thryduulf (talk) 13:49, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Kent Dominic: But this redirect already targets the Cook (profession) article. The DAB page is completely separate and has nothing to do with this redirect, so I don't understand why you are mentioning it. CycloneYoris talk! 21:37, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@CycloneYoris: It seems I'm the one who instigated this thread. My intitial concern in fact related partially to the DAB page. Specifically, it doesn't include an entry for the Cook (profession) article, but I think it should. Also, the Cook (profession) article relates primarily to professional cooks, not to the profession itself. Finally, typing an incomplete "Cook (" in the search window brings up only Cook (profession) but I think it should also bring up Cook (professional) to help readers decide which article they want. The result of the discussion was soft delete. Based on minimal participation, this uncontroversial nomination is treated as an expired PROD (a.k.a. "soft deletion"). Editors can request the article's undeletion. plicit 06:58, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Kardashians page contains just a single sentence about her, and it's hard to find the sentence. Someone who is searching for information about the person won't really find any helpful information by being redirected there. The result of the discussion was retarget to List of Sonic the Hedgehog characters#Characters in other media. There appears to be a rough consensus that this target is suitable following edits to content at that target. signed, Rosguill talk 21:31, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is no longer a characters section in the article as such the R from merge tag is no longer accurate. This redirect is confusing for anyone who types this in and expects a list of Sonic X characters. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 23:41, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adding the list back into the article would probably be WP:LISTCRUFT or WP:FANCRUFT. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 23:43, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Beehive house. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 01:01, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The word "home" is not mentioned in the target article. The target article is alternatively called a "beehive hut", but a separate article Beehive house exists; the subject of Beehive house can also be used as a home, but the word "home" isn't mentioned in that article either. A minor character in which you must race in order to get Shine Sprites. Not mentioned in article though it is mentioned in List of crossovers in video games but you have to scroll really far down in order to see the mention. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 14:39, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There exists a disambiguation page at Parker House, which appears to be a better target for this redirect. I don't see a reason why adding a definite article in front of "Parker House" would create a WP:PTOPIC. As such, I propose that this redirect be retargeted to Parker House. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 00:28, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
