Scratch pad[edit]

Morton and Glick[edit]

I seem to remember them using radio spots with "Morton and Glick" (sp?) at some point in the mid 1990s. Anyone recall this? Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention)

Non-free images[edit]

The article clearly needs to contain some non-free images, as they are the subject. It does not need to contain 24 of them, especially as many are functionally identical. This is an article about advertising, not histories of logos. I would suggest that at least half of the excessive images are pruned. Links - WP:NFCC#3a, WP:NFCC#8, WP:NFLISTS. After three and a half years, I've implemented the consensus reached at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content/Archive 60#Burger King advertising. I removed the tag. Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 12:27, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The stuff that also has changed since that discussion:
  1. Many images used in the article have now been moved to Commons as non free combinations of text and simple geometric shapes that do not qualify for trademark status under USPTO guidelines.
  2. The Kid's Club characters and Honbatz trademark registrations in the United States have been cancelled.
Basically, the three-year old discussion no longer is valid because the vast majority of points brought up at that time are no longer valid. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 00:44, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Jerem43: I did check it against the revision from 2013 [1] upon implementation, and the problems persisted. I removed none of the images that are currently on Commons / are free (I have a script that checks that; I also checked the rationales one-by-one). Trademark is separate from copyright and doesn't affect non-free content considerations. Can I revert your edit, or do you want to comment on some of the images? Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 07:50, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: I did remove one free image: File:Hungry Jack's.svg per the comment at NFC: "the internation[al] logo are absolutely unneeded (there's a separate article for Hungry Jack which is fine there)". This file was non-free back in 2013. It's inclusion here is completely up to preference. Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 08:02, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have been going through the images, many of the images were never trademarked in the United States so their status is questionable at best. Several more of the images have been moved into the public domain because their registration lapsed or was never renewed by Burger King. I have noted this on the image pages, as appropriate. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 07:58, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Jerem43: Trademark is separate from copyright status and affects it in no way. Please don't miss-tag files as free for their trademark being revoked, as they are still copyrighted unless released under a free license. Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 08:04, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've rolled back your changes to the image description pages. File:Hungry Jack's.svg also appears to be non-free, as there was no evidence that the image was published before 1923 or otherwise PD through copyright expiration. "Have It Your Way" slogan[edit]

I have changed the establishment of the HIYW slogan from 1973 to 1974. Couldn't find evidence for the 1973 claim anywhere, after this History Channel documentary "How Our Food Changed to Burgers & French Fries" said that the slogan dated to 1974.
